1This is whatכֹּ֤הkohH3541the Lordאֲדֹנָ֣י'a.do.NaiH136GODיְהוִ֔הYah.wehH3069showed meהִרְאַ֙נִי֙ וְהִנֵּה֙hir.'A.ni ve.hi.NehH7200 H2009:He was preparingיוֹצֵ֣רyo.TzerH3335swarms of locustsגֹּבַ֔יgoyAiH1462just afterאַחַ֖ר'a.CharH310the king’sהַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ha.Me.lekhH4428harvestגִּזֵּ֥יgi.ZeiH1488,as the late spring cropעֲל֣וֹת הַלָּ֑קֶשׁa.Lot ha.La.keshH5927 H3954was coming upבִּתְחִלַּ֖תbit.chi.LatH8462וְהִ֨נֵּה־ve.Hi.neh-H2009לֶ֔קֶשׁLe.keshH3954.

2Andוְהָיָ֗הve.ha.YahH1961whenאִם־'im-H518the locusts hadכִּלָּה֙ki.LahH3615eatenלֶֽאֱכוֹל֙le.'e.khOlH398אֶת־'et-H853every green plantעֵ֣שֶׂב'E.sevH6212in the landהָאָ֔רֶץha.'A.retzH776,I saidוָאֹמַ֗רva.'o.MarH559, “Lordאֲדֹנָ֤י'a.do.NaiH136GODיְהוִה֙Yah.wehH3069,pleaseנָ֔אNa'H4994forgiveסְֽלַֽח־se.lach-H5545!Howמִ֥יmiH4310will Jacobיַֽעֲקֹ֑בya.'a.KoH3290surviveיָק֖וּםya.KumH6965,sinceכִּ֥יkiH3588heהֽוּא׃Hu'H1931is so smallקָטֹ֖ןka.TonH6996?”

3So the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068relentedנִחַ֥םni.ChamH5162fromעַל־'al-H5921thisזֹ֑אתZotH2063plan. “It will notלֹ֥אlo'H3808happenתִהְיֶ֖הtih.YehH1961,” Heיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068saidאָמַ֥ר'a.MarH559.

4This is whatכֹּ֤הkohH3541the Lordאֲדֹנָ֣י'a.do.NaiH136GODיְהוִ֔הYah.wehH3069showed meהִרְאַ֙נִי֙ וְהִנֵּ֥הhir.'A.ni ve.hi.NehH7200 H2009:The Lordאֲדֹנָ֣י'a.do.NaiH136GODיְהוִ֑הYah.wehH3069was callingקֹרֵ֛אko.Re'H7121for judgmentלָרִ֥בla.RivH7378by fireבָּאֵ֖שׁba.'EshH784.It consumedוַתֹּ֙אכַל֙va.To.khalH398אֶת־'et-H853the greatרַבָּ֔הra.BahH7227deepתְּה֣וֹםte.HomH8415and devouredוְאָכְלָ֖הve.'a.khe.LahH398אֶת־'et-H853the landהַחֵֽלֶק׃ha.Che.lekH2506.

5Then I saidוָאֹמַ֗רva.'o.MarH559, “Lordאֲדֹנָ֤י'a.do.NaiH136GODיְהוִה֙Yah.wehH3069,pleaseנָ֔אNa'H4994stopחֲדַל־cha.dal-H2308!Howמִ֥יmiH4310will Jacobיַעֲקֹ֑בya.'a.KoH3290surviveיָק֖וּםya.KumH6965,sinceכִּ֥יkiH3588heהֽוּא׃Hu'H1931is so smallקָטֹ֖ןka.TonH6996?”

6So the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068relentedנִחַ֥םni.ChamH5162fromעַל־'al-H5921thisזֹ֑אתZotH2063plan. “Itהִיא֙hi'H1931will notלֹ֣אlo'H3808happenתִֽהְיֶ֔הtih.YehH1961eitherגַּם־gam-H1571,”saidאָמַ֖ר'a.MarH559the Lordאֲדֹנָ֥י'a.do.NaiH136GODיְהוִֽה׃ סYah.wehH3069.

7This is whatכֹּ֣הkohH3541He showed meהִרְאַ֔נִיhir.'A.niH7200:Beholdוְהִנֵּ֧הve.hi.NehH2009,the Lordאֲדֹנָ֛י'a.do.NaiH136was standingנִצָּ֖בni.TzavH5324byעַל־'al-H5921a wallחוֹמַ֣תcho.MatH2346true to plumbאֲנָ֑ךְ'a.NakhH594,with a plumb lineאֲנָֽךְ׃'a.NakhH594in His handוּבְיָד֖וֹu.ve.ya.DoH3027.

8“Amosעָמ֔וֹסa.MosH5986,whatמָֽה־mah-H4100do youאַתָּ֤ה'a.TahH859seeרֹאֶה֙ro.'EhH7200?”askedוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559the LORDיְהוָ֜ה אֵלַ֗יYah.weh 'e.LaiH3068 H413. “A plumb lineאֲנָ֑ךְ'a.NakhH594,”I repliedוָאֹמַ֖רva.'o.MarH559. “Beholdהִנְנִ֨יhi.NiH2005,”saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559the Lordאֲדֹנָ֗י'a.do.NaiH136, “I am settingשָׂ֤םsamH7760a plumb lineאֲנָךְ֙'a.noKhH594amongבְּקֶ֙רֶב֙be.Ke.revH7130My peopleעַמִּ֣י'a.MiH5971Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478;I will noלֹֽא־lo'-H3808longerאוֹסִ֥יף ע֖וֹד'o.Sif odH3254 H5750spareעֲב֥וֹרa.VorH5674them:

9The high placesבָּמ֣וֹתba.MotH1116of Isaacיִשְׂחָ֔קyis.ChakH3446will be desertedוְנָשַׁ֙מּוּ֙ve.na.Sha.muH8074,and the sanctuariesוּמִקְדְּשֵׁ֥יu.mik.de.SheiH4720of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478will be laid wasteיֶחֱרָ֑בוּye.che.Ra.vuH2717;and I will rise upוְקַמְתִּ֛יve.kam.TiH6965againstעַל־'al-H5921the houseבֵּ֥יתbeitH1004of Jeroboamיָרָבְעָ֖םya.ra.ve.'AmH3379with My swordבֶּחָֽרֶב׃ פbe.Cha.revH2719.”

Amaziah Accuses Amos

10Then Amaziahאֲמַצְיָה֙'a.matz.YahH558the priestכֹּהֵ֣ןko.HenH3548of BethelH1008sentוַיִּשְׁלַ֗חvai.yish.LachH7971word toאֶל־'el-H413Jeroboamיָרָבְעָ֥םya.ra.ve.'AmH3379kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478,sayingלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559, “Amosעָמ֗וֹסa.MosH5986has conspiredקָשַׁ֨רka.SharH7194against youעָלֶ֜יךָ'a.Lei.khaH5921in the midstבְּקֶ֙רֶב֙be.Ke.revH7130of the houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478.The landהָאָ֔רֶץha.'A.retzH776cannotלֹא־ תוּכַ֣לlo'- tu.KhalH3808 H3201bearלְהָכִ֖ילle.ha.KhilH3557אֶת־'et-H853allכָּל־kol-H3605his wordsדְּבָרָֽיו׃de.va.RavH1697,

11forכִּי־ki-H3588this is whatכֹה֙khohH3541Amosעָמ֔וֹסa.MosH5986has saidאָמַ֣ר'a.MarH559: ‘Jeroboamיָרָבְעָ֑םya.ra.ve.'AmH3379will dieיָמ֣וּתya.MutH4191by the swordבַּחֶ֖רֶבba.Che.revH2719,and Israelוְיִ֨שְׂרָאֵ֔לve.Yis.ra.'ElH3478will surely go into exileH1540,away fromמֵעַ֥לme.'AlH5921their homelandאַדְמָתֽוֹ׃ ס'ad.ma.ToH127.’”

12And Amaziahאֲמַצְיָה֙'a.matz.YahH558saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toאֶל־'el-H413Amosעָמ֔וֹסa.MosH5986, “Go awayלֵ֥ךְlekhH1980,you seerחֹזֶ֕הcho.ZehH2374!Fleeבְּרַח־be.rach-H1272toאֶל־'el-H413the landאֶ֣רֶץ'E.retzH776of Judahיְהוּדָ֑הye.hu.DahH3063;earn your breadוֶאֱכָל־ לֶ֔חֶםve.'e.khol- Le.chemH398 H3899thereשָׁ֣םshamH8033and do your prophesyingתִּנָּבֵֽא׃ti.na.Ve'H5012thereוְשָׁ֖םve.ShamH8033.

13But neverלֹֽא־lo'-H3808prophesyלְהִנָּבֵ֑אle.hi.na.Ve'H5012at BethelH1008againתוֹסִ֥יף ע֖וֹדto.Sif odH3254 H5750,becauseכִּ֤יkiH3588itה֔וּאHu'H1931isthe sanctuaryמִקְדַּשׁ־mik.dash-H4720of the kingמֶ֙לֶךְ֙Me.lekhH4428and the templeוּבֵ֥יתu.VeitH1004of the kingdomמַמְלָכָ֖הmam.la.KhahH4467הֽוּא׃ סHu'H1931.”

14“Iלֹא־ אָנֹ֔כִיlo'- 'a.No.khiH595 H3808was notוְלֹ֥אve.Lo'H3808a prophetנָבִ֣יאna.Vi'H5030,”Amosעָמוֹס֙'a.mOsH5986וַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559אֶל־'el-H413repliedוַיַּ֤עַןvai.Ya.'anH6030אֲמַצְיָ֔ה'a.matz.YahH558, “nor was Ithe sonבֶן־ven-H1121of a prophetנָבִ֖יאna.Vi'H5030;ratherכִּֽי־ki-H3588,Iאָנֹ֑כִי'a.No.khiH595was a herdsmanבוֹקֵ֥רvo.KerH951andאָנֹ֖כִי'a.No.khiH595a tenderוּבוֹלֵ֥סu.vo.LesH1103of sycamore-fig treesשִׁקְמִֽים׃shik.MimH8256.

15But the LORDיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068took meוַיִּקָּחֵ֣נִיvai.yi.ka.Che.niH3947from followingמֵאַחֲרֵ֖יme.'a.cha.ReiH310the flockהַצֹּ֑אןha.TzonH6629and saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to meאֵלַי֙ יְהוָ֔ה'e.Lai Yah.wehH413 H3068, ‘Goלֵ֥ךְlekhH1980,prophesyהִנָּבֵ֖אhi.na.Ve'H5012toאֶל־'el-H413My peopleעַמִּ֥י'a.MiH5971Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478.’

16Now, thereforeוְעַתָּ֖הve.'a.TahH6258,hearשְׁמַ֣עshe.Ma'H8085the wordדְּבַר־de.var-H1697of the LORDיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068.Youאַתָּ֣ה'a.TahH859sayאֹמֵ֗ר'o.MerH559: ‘Do notלֹ֤אlo'H3808prophesyתִנָּבֵא֙ti.na.Ve'H5012againstעַל־'al-H5921Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478;do notוְלֹ֥אve.Lo'H3808preachתַטִּ֖יףta.TifH5197againstעַל־'al-H5921the houseבֵּ֥יתbeitH1004of Isaacיִשְׂחָֽק׃yis.ChakH3446.’

17Thereforeלָכֵ֞ןla.KhenH3651this is whatכֹּה־koh-H3541the LORDיְהוָ֗הYah.wehH3068saysאָמַ֣ר'a.MarH559: ‘Your wifeאִשְׁתְּךָ֞'ish.te.KhaH802will become a prostituteתִּזְנֶה֙tiz.NehH2181in the cityבָּעִ֤ירba.'IrH5892,and your sonsוּבָנֶ֤יךָu.va.Nei.khaH1121and daughtersוּבְנֹתֶ֙יךָ֙u.ve.no.Tei.khaH1323will fallיִפֹּ֔לוּyi.Po.luH5307by the swordבַּחֶ֣רֶבba.Che.revH2719.Your landוְאַדְמָתְךָ֖ve.'ad.ma.te.KhaH127will be dividedתְּחֻלָּ֑קte.chu.LakH2505by a measuring lineבַּחֶ֣בֶלba.Che.velH2256,and you yourselfוְאַתָּ֗הve.'a.TahH859will dieתָּמ֔וּתta.MutH4191onעַל־'al-H5921paganטְמֵאָה֙te.me.'AhH2931soilאֲדָמָ֤ה'a.da.MahH127.And Israelוְיִ֨שְׂרָאֵ֔לve.Yis.ra.'ElH3478will surely go into exileH1540,away fromמֵעַ֥לme.'AlH5921their homelandאַדְמָתֽוֹ׃ ס'ad.ma.ToH127.’”
