11When Jehuוְיֵה֗וּאve.ye.Hu'H3058went outיָצָא֙ya.Tza'H3318toאֶל־'el-H413the servantsעַבְדֵ֣י'av.DeiH5650of his masterאֲדֹנָ֔יו'a.do.NavH113,they askedוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Is everything all rightהֲשָׁל֔וֹםha.sha.LomH7965?Whyמַדּ֛וּעַma.Du.a'H4069did thisהַזֶּ֖הha.ZehH2088madmanהַמְשֻׁגָּ֥עham.shu.Ga'H7696comeבָּֽא־ba'-H935to youאֵלֶ֑יךָ'e.Lei.khaH413?” “Youאַתֶּ֛ם'a.TemH859knowיְדַעְתֶּ֥םye.da'.TemH3045אֶת־'et-H853his kindהָאִ֖ישׁha.'IshH376וְאֶת־ve.'EtH853and their babbleשִׂיחֽוֹ׃si.ChoH7879,”he repliedוַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֲלֵיהֶ֔םvai.Yo.mer 'a.lei.HemH559 H413.

12“That is a lieשֶׁ֔קֶרShe.kerH8267!”they saidוַיֹּאמְר֣וּvai.yo.me.RuH559. “Tellהַגֶּד־ha.ged-H5046usnowנָ֖אna'H4994!”So Jehu answeredוַיֹּ֗אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “He talkedאָמַ֤ר'a.MarH559to meאֵלַי֙'e.LaiH413about thisכָּזֹ֤אתka.ZotH2063and thatוְכָזֹאת֙ve.kha.zoTH2063,sayingלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559, ‘This is whatכֹּ֚הkohH3541the LORDיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068saysאָמַ֣ר'a.MarH559:I anointמְשַׁחְתִּ֥יךָֽme.shach.Ti.khaH4886you kingלְמֶ֖לֶךְle.Me.lekhH4428overאֶל־'el-H413Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478.’”

13Quicklyוַֽיְמַהֲר֗וּvay.ma.ha.RuH4116,each manאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376tookוַיִּקְחוּ֙vai.yik.ChuH3947his garmentבִּגְד֔וֹbig.DoH899and putוַיָּשִׂ֥ימוּvai.ya.Si.muH7760itunderתַחְתָּ֖יוtach.TavH8478Jehuonאֶל־'el-H413the bareגֶּ֣רֶםGe.remH1634stepsהַֽמַּעֲל֑וֹתha.ma.'a.LotH4609.Then they blewוַֽיִּתְקְעוּ֙vai.yit.ke.'UH8628the ram’s hornבַּשּׁוֹפָ֔רba.sho.FarH7782and proclaimedוַיֹּאמְר֖וּvai.yo.me.RuH559, “Jehuיֵהֽוּא׃ye.Hu'H3058is kingמָלַ֥ךְma.LakhH4427!”

14Thus Jehuיֵה֛וּאye.Hu'H3058sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Jehoshaphatיְהוֹשָׁפָ֥טye.ho.sha.FatH3092,the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Nimshiנִמְשִׁ֖יnim.ShiH5250,conspiredוַיִּתְקַשֵּׁ֗רvai.yit.ka.SherH7194againstאֶל־'el-H413Joramיוֹרָ֑םyo.RamH3141. (Now Joramוְיוֹרָם֩ve.yo.RamH3141and allוְכָל־ve.kholH3605Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478had beenהָיָ֨הha.YahH1961ה֚וּאhu'H1931defendingשֹׁמֵ֜רsho.MerH8104Ramoth-gileadבְּרָמֹ֣ת גִּלְעָ֗דbe.ra.Mot gil.'AdH7418 H1568againstמִפְּנֵ֥יmi.pe.NeiH6440Hazaelחֲזָאֵ֖לcha.za.'ElH2371kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Aramאֲרָֽם׃'a.RamH758,

15but Kingהַמֶּ֜לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428Joramיְהוֹרָ֨םye.ho.RamH3088had returnedוַיָּשָׁב֩vai.ya.ShavH7725to Jezreelבִיְזְרְעֶ֗אלviy.ze.re.'ElH3157to recoverלְהִתְרַפֵּ֣אle.hit.ra.Pe'H7495fromמִן־min-H4480the woundsהַמַּכִּים֙ha.ma.KimH4347אֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834he had sufferedיַכֻּ֣הוּya.Ku.huH5221at the handsof the Arameansאֲרַמִּ֔ים'a.ra.MimH761in the battleבְּהִלָּ֣חֲמ֔וֹbe.hi.La.cha.MoH3898againstאֶת־'et-H854Hazaelחֲזָאֵ֖לcha.za.'ElH2371their kingמֶ֣לֶךְ אֲרָ֑םMe.lekh 'a.RamH4428 H758.)So Jehuיֵהוּא֙ye.Hu'H3058saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Ifאִם־ יֵ֣שׁ'im- yeshH518 H3426you commanders wish to make me kingנַפְשְׁכֶ֔םnaf.she.KhemH5315,then do notאַל־'al-H408let anyoneיֵצֵ֤אye.Tze'H3318escapeפָלִיט֙fa.LitH6412fromמִן־min-H4480the cityהָעִ֔ירha.'IrH5892to goלָלֶ֖כֶתla.Le.khetH1980and tellלְהַגִּ֥ידle.gidH5046itin Jezreelבְּיִזְרְעֶֽאל׃be.yiz.re.'ElH3157.”

16Then Jehuיֵהוּא֙ye.Hu'H3058got into his chariotוַיִּרְכַּ֤בvai.yir.KavH7392and wentוַיֵּ֣לֶךְvai.Ye.lekhH1980to Jezreelיִזְרְעֶ֔אלָהyiz.re.'E.lahH3157,becauseכִּ֥יkiH3588Joramיוֹרָ֖םyo.RamH3141was laid upשֹׁכֵ֣בsho.KhevH7901thereשָׁ֑מָּהSha.mahH8033.And Ahaziahוַֽאֲחַזְיָה֙va.'a.chaz.YahH274kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Judahיְהוּדָ֔הye.hu.DahH3063had gone downיָרַ֖דya.RadH3381to seeלִרְא֥וֹתlir.'otH7200אֶת־'et-H853himיוֹרָֽם׃yo.RamH3141.

17Now the watchmanוְהַצֹּפֶה֩ve.ha.tzo.PehH6822standingעֹמֵ֨ד'o.MedH5975onעַֽל־'al-H5921the towerהַמִּגְדָּ֜לha.mig.DalH4026in Jezreelבְּיִזְרְעֶ֗אלbe.yiz.re.'ElH3157sawוַיַּ֞רְאvai.Yar'H7200אֶת־'et-H853Jehu’sיֵהוּא֙ye.Hu'H3058troopsשִׁפְעַ֤תshif.'AtH8229approachingבְּבֹא֔וֹbe.vo.'OH935,and he called outוַיֹּ֕אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Iאֲנִ֣י'a.NiH589seeרֹאֶ֑הro.'EhH7200a company ofשִׁפְעַ֖תshif.'AtH8229troops!” “Chooseקַ֥חkachH3947a riderרַכָּ֛בra.KavH7395,”Joramיְהוֹרָ֗םye.ho.RamH3088commandedוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559. “Send him outוּֽשְׁלַ֥חu.she.LachH7971to meet themלִקְרָאתָ֖םlik.ra.TamH7122and askוְיֹאמַ֥רve.yo.MarH559, ‘Have you come in peaceהֲשָׁלֽוֹם׃ha.sha.LomH7965?’”

18So a horsemanרֹכֵ֨ב הַסּ֜וּסro.Khev ha.SusH7392 H5483rode offוַיֵּלֶךְ֩vai.ye.leKhH1980to meet Jehuלִקְרָאת֗וֹlik.ra.ToH7122and saidוַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙vai.Yo.merH559, “This is whatכֹּֽה־koh-H3541the kingהַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ha.Me.lekhH4428asksאָמַ֤ר'a.MarH559: ‘Have you come in peaceהֲשָׁל֔וֹםha.sha.LomH7965?’” “Whatמַה־mah-H4100do youknow about peaceוּלְשָׁל֖וֹםu.le.sha.LomH7965?”Jehuיֵה֛וּאye.Hu'H3058repliedוַיֹּ֧אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559. “Fall inסֹ֣ב אֶֽל־so 'el-H5437 H413behind meאַחֲרָ֑י'a.cha.RaiH310.”And the watchmanהַצֹּפֶה֙ לֵאמֹ֔רha.tzo.Peh le.MorH6822 H559reportedוַיַּגֵּ֤דvai.ya.GedH5046, “The messengerהַמַּלְאָ֥ךְha.mal.'AkhH4397reachedבָּֽא־ עַד־ba'- 'ad-H935 H5704themהֵ֖םhemH1992,but he is notוְלֹֽא־ve.lo'-H3808coming backשָֽׁב׃ShavH7725.”

19So the king sent outוַיִּשְׁלַ֗חvai.yish.LachH7971a secondשֵׁנִי֒she.NiH8145horsemanרֹכֵ֣ב סוּס֮ro.Khev susH7392 H5483,who wentוַיָּבֹ֣אvai.ya.Vo'H935to themאֲלֵהֶ֔ם'a.le.HemH413and saidוַיֹּ֛אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “This is whatכֹּֽה־koh-H3541the kingהַמֶּ֖לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428asksאָמַ֥ר'a.MarH559: ‘Have you come in peaceשָׁל֑וֹםsha.LomH7965?’” “Whatמַה־mah-H4100do youknow about peaceוּלְשָׁל֖וֹםu.le.sha.LomH7965?”Jehuיֵה֛וּאye.Hu'H3058repliedוַיֹּ֧אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559. “Fall inסֹ֥ב אֶֽל־so 'el-H5437 H413behind meאַחֲרָֽי׃'a.cha.RaiH310.”

20Again the watchmanהַצֹּפֶה֙ לֵאמֹ֔רha.tzo.Peh le.MorH6822 H559reportedוַיַּגֵּ֤דvai.ya.GedH5046, “He reachedבָּ֥א עַד־ba' 'ad-H935 H5704themאֲלֵיהֶ֖ם'a.lei.HemH413,but he is notוְלֹֽא־ve.lo'-H3808coming backשָׁ֑בShavH7725.And the charioteerוְהַמִּנְהָ֗גve.ha.min.HagH4491is driving likeכְּמִנְהַג֙ke.min.HagH4491Jehuיֵה֣וּאye.Hu'H3058sonבֶן־ven-H1121of Nimshiנִמְשִׁ֔י כִּ֥יnim.Shi kiH5250 H3588—he is drivingיִנְהָֽג׃yin.HagH5090like a madmanבְשִׁגָּע֖וֹןve.shi.ga.'onH7697!”

21“Harnessאֱסֹ֔ר'e.SorH631!”Joramיְהוֹרָם֙ye.ho.RamH3088shoutedוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559,and they harnessedוַיֶּאְסֹ֖רvai.ye'.SorH631his chariotרִכְבּ֑וֹrikh.BoH7393.Then Joramיְהוֹרָ֣םye.ho.RamH3088kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Israelיִ֠שְׂרָאֵלYis.ra.'elH3478and Ahaziahוַאֲחַזְיָ֨הוּva.'a.chaz.Ya.huH274kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Judahיְהוּדָ֜הye.hu.DahH3063set outוַיֵּצֵ֣אvai.ye.Tze'H3318,eachאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376in his own chariotבְּרִכְבּ֗וֹbe.rikh.BoH7393,and metוַיֵּֽצְאוּ֙ לִקְרַ֣אתvai.ye.tze.'U lik.RatH3318 H7122Jehuיֵה֔וּא וַיִּמְצָאֻ֔הוּye.Hu' vai.yim.tza.'U.huH3058 H4672on the propertyבְּחֶלְקַ֖תbe.chel.KatH2513of Nabothנָב֥וֹתna.VotH5022the Jezreeliteהַיִּזְרְעֵאלִֽי׃hai.yiz.re.'e.LiH3158.

22וַיְהִ֗יvay.HiH1961When Joramיְהוֹרָם֙ye.ho.RamH3088אֶת־'et-H853sawכִּרְא֤וֹתkir.'otH7200Jehuיֵה֔וּאye.Hu'H3058,he askedוַיֹּ֖אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Have you come in peaceהֲשָׁל֣וֹםha.sha.LomH7965,Jehuיֵה֑וּאye.Hu'H3058?” “Howמָ֣הmahH4100can there beעַד־'ad-H5704peaceהַשָּׁל֔וֹםha.sha.LomH7965,”he repliedוַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙vai.Yo.merH559, “as long asהָרַבִּֽים׃ha.ra.BimH7227the idolatryזְנוּנֵ֞יze.nu.NeiH2183and witchcraftוּכְשָׁפֶ֖יהָu.khe.sha.Fei.haH3785of your motherאִמְּךָ֛'i.me.KhaH517Jezebel aboundאִיזֶ֧בֶל'i.Ze.velH348?”

23Joramיְהוֹרָ֛ם יָדָ֖יוye.ho.Ram ya.DavH3088 H3027turned aroundוַיַּהֲפֹ֧ךְvai.ya.ha.FokhH2015and fledוַיָּנֹ֑סvai.ya.NosH5127,calling outוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toאֶל־'el-H413Ahaziahאֲחַזְיָ֖הוּ'a.chaz.Ya.huH274, “Treacheryמִרְמָ֥הmir.MahH4820,Ahaziahאֲחַזְיָֽה׃'a.chaz.YahH274!”

24Then Jehuוְיֵה֞וּאve.ye.Hu'H3058drewמִלֵּ֧א יָד֣וֹmi.Le' ya.DoH4390 H3027his bowבַקֶּ֗שֶׁתva.Ke.shetH7198and shotוַיַּ֤ךְvai.YakhH5221אֶת־'et-H853Joramיְהוֹרָם֙ye.ho.RamH3088betweenבֵּ֣יןbeinH996the shouldersזְרֹעָ֔יוze.ro.'AvH2220.The arrowהַחֵ֖צִיha.Che.tziH2678piercedוַיֵּצֵ֥אvai.ye.Tze'H3318his heartמִלִּבּ֑וֹmi.li.BoH3820,and he slumped downוַיִּכְרַ֖עvai.yikh.Ra'H3766in his chariotבְּרִכְבּֽוֹ׃be.rikh.BoH7393.

25And Jehu saidוַיֹּ֗אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toאֶל־'el-H413Bidkarבִּדְקַר֙bid.KarH920his officerH7969, “Pick him upשָׂ֚אsa'H5375andthrow himהַשְׁלִכֵ֔הוּhash.li.Khe.huH7993into the fieldבְּחֶלְקַ֕ת שְׂדֵ֖הbe.chel.Kat se.DehH2513 H7704of Nabothנָב֣וֹתna.VotH5022the Jezreeliteהַיִּזְרְעֵאלִ֑יhai.yiz.re.'e.LiH3158.Forכִּֽי־ki-H3588remember thatזְכֹ֞רze.KhorH2142when youוָאַ֗תָּהva.'A.tahH859אֵ֣ת'etH853and Iאֲנִ֣י'a.NiH589were ridingרֹכְבִ֤יםro.khe.VimH7392togetherצְמָדִים֙tze.ma.DimH6776behindאַֽחֲרֵי֙'a.cha.ReiH310his fatherאָבִ֔יו'a.VivH1Ahabאַחְאָ֣ב'ach.'AvH256,the LORDוַֽיהוָה֙va.Yah.wehH3068lifted upנָשָׂ֣אna.Sa'H5375thisהַזֶּֽה׃ha.ZehH2088burdenהַמַּשָּׂ֖אha.ma.Sa'H4853against himעָלָ֔יו'a.LavH5921אֶת־'et-H853:

26‘As surelyאִם־ לֹ֡א'im- lo'H518 H3808אֶת־'et-H853as I sawרָאִ֤יתִיra.'I.tiH7200the bloodדְּמֵ֣יde.MeiH1818of Nabothנָבוֹת֩na.VotH5022וְאֶת־ve.'EtH853and the bloodדְּמֵ֨יde.MeiH1818of his sonsבָנָ֜יוva.NavH1121yesterdayאֶ֙מֶשׁ֙'e.meshH570,declaresנְאֻם־ne.'um-H5002the LORDיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068,so will I repayוְשִׁלַּמְתִּ֥יve.shi.lam.TiH7999youon thisהַזֹּ֖אתha.ZotH2063plot of groundבַּחֶלְקָ֥הba.chel.KahH2513,declaresנְאֻם־ne.'um-H5002the LORDיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068.’Now thenוְעַתָּ֗הve.'a.TahH6258,according to the wordכִּדְבַ֥רkid.VarH1697of the LORDיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068,pick him upשָׂ֧אsa'H5375andthrow himהַשְׁלִכֵ֛הוּhash.li.Khe.huH7993on the plotבַּחֶלְקָ֖הba.chel.KahH2513of ground.”

27When Kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428Ahaziahוַאֲחַזְיָ֤הva.'a.chaz.YahH274of Judahיְהוּדָה֙ye.hu.DahH3063sawרָאָ֔הra.'AhH7200this,he fledוַיָּ֕נָסvai.Ya.nosH5127up the roadדֶּ֖רֶךְDe.rekhH1870toward Beth-hagganבֵּ֣ית הַגָּ֑ןbeit ha.GanH1004 H1588.And Jehuיֵה֗וּאye.Hu'H3058pursued himוַיִּרְדֹּ֨ף אַחֲרָ֜יוvai.yir.Dof 'a.cha.RavH7291 H310,shoutingוַ֠יֹּאמֶרVai.yo.merH559, “Shootהַכֻּ֣הוּha.Ku.huH5221himאֹת֞וֹ'o.ToH853tooגַּם־gam-H1571!” So they shot Ahaziahinאֶל־'el-H413his chariotהַמֶּרְכָּבָ֗הha.mer.ka.VahH4818on the Ascentבְּמַֽעֲלֵה־be.ma.'a.leh-H4608of Gurגוּר֙gurH1483,אֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834אֶֽת־'et-H854near Ibleamיִבְלְעָ֔םyiv.le.'AmH2991,and he fledוַיָּ֥נָסvai.Ya.nosH5127to Megiddoמְגִדּ֖וֹme.gi.DoH4023and diedוַיָּ֥מָתvai.Ya.motH4191thereשָֽׁם׃ShamH8033.

28Then his servantsעֲבָדָ֖יו'a.va.DavH5650carried him by chariotוַיַּרְכִּ֧בוּvai.yar.Ki.vuH7392to Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלְָ֑מָהye.ru.sha.Le.mahH3389אֹת֛וֹ'o.ToH853and buriedוַיִּקְבְּר֨וּvai.yik.be.RuH6912himאֹת֧וֹ'o.ToH853with his fathersאֲבֹתָ֖יו'a.vo.TavH1in his tombבִקְבֻרָת֛וֹ עִם־vik.vu.ra.To 'im-H6900 H5973in the Cityבְּעִ֥ירbe.'IrH5892of Davidדָּוִֽד׃ פda.VidH1732.
