Hosea 7
Revised Version 1895
1When I would healH7495 IsraelH3478, then is the iniquityH5771 of EphraimH669 discovered, and the wickednessH7451 of SamariaH8111; for they commit falsehoodH8267: and the thiefH1590 entereth in, and the troopH1416 of robbersH1590 spoileth without. 2And they considerH2142 notH1961 in their heartsH3824 that I rememberH2142 allH3605 their wickednessH7451: nowH6258 have their ownH1961 doingsH4611 beset them aboutH1961; they are beforeH6440 my faceH6440. 3They makeH8055 the kingH4428 gladH8055 with their wickednessH7451, and the princesH8269 with their liesH3585. 4They are allH3605 adulterersH5003; they are as an ovenH8574 heated by the bakerH644; he ceaseth to stirH5782 the fire, from the kneadingH3888 of the doughH1217 untilH5704 it be leavened. 5On the dayH3117 of our kingH4428 the princesH8269 made themselves sickH2470 with the heatH2534 of wineH3196; he stretchedH4900 outH4900 his handH3027 with scorners. 6For they have madeH3605 ready their heartH3820 like an ovenH8574, whiles they lieH693 in waitH693: their bakerH644 sleepeth allH3605 the nightH3915; in the morningH1242 it burneth as a flamingH3852 fireH784. 7They are allH3605 hotH2552 as an ovenH8574, and devourH398 their judgesH8199; allH3605 their kingsH4428 are fallenH5307: there is noneH369 among them that calleth unto meH413. 8EphraimH669, he mixeth himselfH1931 among the peoplesH5971; EphraimH669 is a cakeH5692 notH1961 turnedH2015. 9StrangersH2114 have devouredH398 his strengthH3581, and he knoweth it notH3808: yea, grayH7872 hairsH7872 are here and there upon him, and he knoweth it notH3808. 10And the prideH1347 of IsraelH3478 doth testifyH6030 to his faceH6440: yet they have notH3808 returnedH7725 unto the LORDH3068 their GodH430, norH3808 soughtH1245 him, for allH3605 this. 11And EphraimH669 is like a silly doveH3123, withoutH369 understandingH3820: they callH7121 unto EgyptH4714, they goH1980 to AssyriaH804. 12When they shall goH3381, I will spreadH6566 my netH7568 uponH5921 them; I will bringH3381 them downH3381 as the fowls of the heavenH8064: I will chastiseH3256 them, as their congregationH5712 hath heard. 13WoeH188 unto them! for they have wandered from meH5921; destructionH7701 unto them! for they have trespassed againstH5921 meH5921: thoughH3588 I would redeemH6299 them, yet they have spokenH1696 liesH3577 againstH5921 meH5921. 14And they have notH3808 criedH2199 unto meH413 with their heartH3820, but they howlH3213 uponH5921 their bedsH4904: they assemble themselvesH5921 for corn and wineH8492, they rebel againstH5921 meH413. 15Though I have taughtH3256 and strengthenedH2388 their armsH2220, yet doH589 they imagine mischief againstH413 meH413. 16They returnH7725, but notH3808 to him that is on highH5920; they are like a deceitfulH7423 bowH7198: their princesH8269 shall fallH5307 by the swordH2719 for the rageH2195 of their tongueH3956: this shall be their derisionH3933 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714.
