1 Kings 11:1-11
1Now kingH4428 SolomonH8010 lovedH157 manyH7227 foreignH5237 womenH802, together with the daughterH1323 of PharaohH6547, womenH802 of the MoabitesH4125, AmmonitesH5984, EdomitesH130, SidoniansH6722, and HittitesH2850; 2of the nationsH1471 concerningH413 which Jehovah saidH559 unto the children of IsraelH3478, Ye shall not goH935 among them, neither shall they comeH935 among you; for surely they will turnH5186 away your heartH3824 after their godsH430: SolomonH8010 clave unto these in loveH160. 3And he had sevenH7651 hundredH3967 wivesH802, princesses, and threeH7969 hundredH3967 concubinesH6370; and his wivesH802 turnedH5186 away his heartH3820. 4For it came to pass, when SolomonH8010 wasH1961 oldH2209, that his wivesH802 turnedH5186 away his heartH3824 after otherH312 godsH430; and his heartH3824 wasH1961 not perfectH8003 with Jehovah his GodH430, as wasH1961 the heartH3824 of DavidH1732 his fatherH1. 5For SolomonH8010 went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the SidoniansH6722, and after MilcomH4445 the abominationH8251 of the AmmonitesH5984. 6And SolomonH8010 did that which was evilH7451 in the sight of Jehovah, and went not fully after Jehovah, as did DavidH1732 his fatherH1. 7ThenH227 did SolomonH8010 buildH1129 a highH1116 placeH1116 for ChemoshH3645 the abominationH8251 of MoabH4124, in the mount that is before JerusalemH3389, and for MolechH4432 the abominationH8251 of the children of AmmonH5983. 8And soH3651 did he for all his foreignH5237 wivesH802, who burnt incenseH6999 and sacrificedH2076 unto their godsH430.
9And Jehovah was angryH599 with SolomonH8010, because his heartH3824 was turnedH5186 away from Jehovah, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478, who had appearedH7200 unto him twice, 10and had commandedH6680 him concerning this thingH1697, that he should not go after otherH312 godsH430: but he keptH8104 not that which Jehovah commandedH6680. 11Wherefore Jehovah saidH559 unto SolomonH8010, Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not keptH8104 my covenantH1285 and my statutesH2708, which I have commandedH6680 thee, I will surely rend the kingdomH4467 from thee, and will giveH5414 it to thy servantH5650.
