Jeremiah 39
1(IN the ninthH8671 yearH8141 of ZedekiahH6667 kingH4428 of JudahH3063, in the tenthH6224 monthH2320, cameH935 NebuchadrezzarH5019 kingH4428 of BabylonH894 and allH3605 his armyH2428 againstH5921 JerusalemH3389, and besieged it; 2in the eleventhH6240 yearH8141 of ZedekiahH6667, in the fourthH7243 monthH2320, the ninthH8672 dayH2320 of the monthH2320, a breachH1234 was made in the cityH5892:) 3that allH3605 the princesH8269 of the kingH4428 of BabylonH894 cameH935 in, and satH3427 in the middleH8432 gateH8179, even Nergal-sharezerH5371, Samgar-nebo, Sarsechim, Rab-sarisH7249, Nergal-sharezerH5371, Rab-magH7248, with allH3605 the restH7611 of the princesH8269 of the kingH4428 of BabylonH894. 4And it cameH1961 to passH1961 that when ZedekiahH6667 the kingH4428 of JudahH3063 and allH3605 the menH376 of warH4421 sawH7200 them, then they fledH1272, and wentH3318 forthH3318 outH3318 of the cityH5892 by nightH3915, by the wayH1870 of the king’sH4428 gardenH1588, by the gateH8179 betwixt the twoH4480 wallsH2346: and he wentH3318 outH3318 the wayH1870 of the ArabahH6160. 5But the armyH2428 of the ChaldeansH3778 pursuedH7291 afterH310 them, and overtookH5381 ZedekiahH6667 in the plainsH6160 of JerichoH3405: and when they had takenH3947 him, they broughtH5927 him upH5927 to NebuchadrezzarH5019 kingH4428 of BabylonH894 to RiblahH7247 in the landH776 of HamathH2574, and he gaveH3947 judgmentH4941 uponH413 him. 6Then the kingH4428 of BabylonH894 slewH7819 the sonsH1121 of ZedekiahH6667 in RiblahH7247 beforeH5869 his eyesH5869: also the kingH4428 of BabylonH894 slewH7819 allH3605 the noblesH2715 of JudahH3063. 7Moreover he putH935 outH935 Zedekiah’sH6667 eyesH5869, and boundH631 him in fettersH5178, to carryH935 him to BabylonH894. 8And the ChaldeansH3778 burnedH8313 the king’sH4428 houseH1004, and the housesH1004 of the peopleH5971, with fireH784, and brake downH5422 the wallsH2346 of JerusalemH3389. 9Then NebuzaradanH5018 the captainH7227 of the guardH2876 carriedH1540 awayH1540 captiveH1540 intoH1540 BabylonH894 the residue of the peopleH5971 that remainedH7604 in the cityH5892, the desertersH5307 also, that fellH5307 awayH1540 to him, and the residue of the peopleH5971 that remainedH7604. 10But NebuzaradanH5018 the captainH7227 of the guardH2876 leftH7604 of the poorH1800 of the peopleH5971, whichH834 had nothingH369, in the landH776 of JudahH3063, and gaveH5414 them vineyardsH3754 and fieldsH3010 at the sameH1931 time. 11NowH7227 NebuchadrezzarH5019 kingH4428 of BabylonH894 gaveH6680 chargeH5921 concerning JeremiahH3414 to NebuzaradanH5018 the captainH7227 of the guardH2876, sayingH559, 12TakeH3947 him, and lookH5869 wellH3651 to him, and doH6213 him noH408 harmH7451; but doH6213 unto him evenH3588 as he shall sayH1696 unto thee. 13SoH7971 NebuzaradanH5018 the captainH7227 of the guardH2876 sentH7971, and Nebushazban, Rab-sarisH7249, and Nergal-sharezerH5371, Rab-magH7248, and allH3605 the chief officers of the kingH4428 of BabylonH894; 14they sentH7971, and tookH3947 JeremiahH3414 outH3318 of the courtH2691 of the guardH4307, and committedH5414 him unto GedaliahH1436 the sonH1121 of AhikamH296, the sonH1121 of ShaphanH8227, that he should carryH3318 him homeH1004: soH3947 he dweltH3427 among the peopleH5971. 15NowH1961 the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 cameH1961 unto JeremiahH3414, whileH1961 he was shutH6113 upH1961 in the courtH2691 of the guardH4307, sayingH559, 16GoH1980, and speakH559 to Ebed-melechH5663 the EthiopianH3569, sayingH559, ThusH3541 saith the LORDH3068 of hostsH6635, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478: BeholdH2005, I will bringH935 my wordsH1697 uponH935 this cityH5892 for evilH7451, and notH3808 for goodH2896; and they shall be accomplished beforeH6440 thee in that dayH3117. 17But I will deliverH5337 thee in that dayH3117, saith the LORDH3068: and thou shalt notH3808 be givenH5414 intoH376 the handH3027 of the menH376 of whomH834 thou art afraid. 18For I will surelyH3588 saveH4422 thee, and thou shalt notH3808 fallH5307 by the swordH2719, but thy lifeH5315 shall be for a prey unto thee: becauseH3588 thou hast putH982 thy trustH982 in meH5315, saith the LORDH3068.
