Samuel 17:5-38

And he had an helmetH3553 of brassH5178 uponH5921 his headH7218, and he was clad with a coat of mail; and the weightH4948 of the coat was fiveH2568 thousandH505 shekelsH8255 of brassH5178.

And he had greavesH4697 of brassH5178 uponH5921 his legsH7272, and a javelinH3591 of brassH5178 betweenH996 his shouldersH3802.

And the staff of his spearH2595 was like a weaver’sH707 beamH4500; and his spear’s headH6440 weighed sixH8337 hundredH3967 shekelsH8255 of ironH1270: and his shield-bearer wentH1980 beforeH6440 him.

And he stoodH5975 and criedH7121 unto the armiesH4634 of IsraelH3478, and saidH559 unto them, WhyH4100 are ye comeH3318 outH3318 to setH5975 your battleH4421 in arrayH4421? am notH3808 I a PhilistineH6430, and ye servantsH5650 to SaulH7586? chooseH1262 youH859 a manH376 for youH859, and letH3381 him comeH3318 downH3381 to meH413.

IfH518 he be ableH3201 to fightH3898 with meH589, and killH5221 meH589, then will weH518 be your servantsH5650: but ifH518 I prevailH3201 againstH854 him, and killH5221 him, then shall ye be our servantsH5650, and serveH5647 usH5647.

And the PhilistineH6430 saidH559, I defyH2778 the armiesH4634 of IsraelH3478 this dayH3117; giveH5414 meH5414 a manH376, that weH3117 may fightH3898 togetherH3162.

And when SaulH7586 and allH3605 IsraelH3478 heardH8085 thoseH428 wordsH1697 of the PhilistineH6430, they were dismayedH2865, and greatlyH3966 afraidH3372.

NowH3117 DavidH1732 was the sonH1121 of that EphrathiteH673 of Beth-lehem-judah, whoseH1121 nameH8034 was JesseH3448; and he had eightH8083 sonsH1121: and the manH376 was an oldH1121 manH376 in the daysH3117 of SaulH7586, stricken in yearsH3117 among menH376.

And the threeH7969 eldest sonsH1121 of JesseH3448 had goneH1980 afterH310 SaulH7586 to the battleH4421: and the namesH8034 of his threeH7969 sonsH1121 that wentH1980 to the battleH4421 were EliabH446 the firstbornH1060, and nextH4932 unto him AbinadabH41, and the thirdH7992 ShammahH8048.

And DavidH1732 was the youngestH6996: and the threeH7969 eldest followedH310 SaulH7586.

NowH1980 DavidH1732 wentH1980 to and froH1980 from SaulH7586 to feedH7462 his father’sH1 sheepH6629 at Beth-lehem.

And the PhilistineH6430 drewH5066 nearH5066 morningH7925 and eveningH6150, and presentedH3320 himselfH3117 fortyH705 daysH3117.

And JesseH3448 saidH559 unto DavidH1732 his sonH1121, TakeH3947 nowH4994 for thy brethrenH251 an ephahH374 of this parchedH7039 corn, and theseH2088 tenH6235 loavesH3899, and carryH3947 them quicklyH7323 to the campH4264 to thy brethrenH251;

and bringH935 theseH428 tenH6235 cheeses unto the captainH8269 of their thousandH505, and lookH6485 howH7965 thy brethrenH251 fare, and takeH3947 their pledge.

Now SaulH7586, and they, and allH3605 the menH376 of IsraelH3478, were in the vale of ElahH425, fightingH3898 with the PhilistinesH6430.

And DavidH1732 roseH7925 upH5375 earlyH7925 in the morningH1242, and leftH3318 the sheepH6629 with a keeperH8104, and tookH5375, and wentH3318, as JesseH3448 had commandedH6680 him; and he cameH935 to the placeH935 of the wagons, as the host whichH834 was goingH3318 forthH3318 to the fightH4421 shoutedH7321 for the battleH4421.

And IsraelH3478 and the PhilistinesH6430 put the battleH4634 in arrayH4634, armyH4634 againstH7122 armyH4634.

And DavidH1732 leftH5203 his baggageH3627 in the handH3027 of the keeperH8104 of the baggageH3627, and ranH7323 to the armyH4634, and cameH935 and saluted his brethrenH251.

And as he talkedH1696 with them, beholdH2009, there cameH5927 upH5927 the champion, the PhilistineH6430 of GathH1661, GoliathH1555 by nameH8034, outH376 of the ranks of the PhilistinesH6430, and spake accordingH376 to the sameH1931 wordsH1697: and DavidH1732 heardH8085 them.

And allH3605 the menH376 of IsraelH3478, when they sawH7200 the manH376, fledH5127 from him, and were sore afraidH3372.

And the menH376 of IsraelH3478 saidH559, Have ye seenH7200 this manH376 that is comeH1961 upH5927? surelyH3588 to defyH2778 IsraelH3478 is he comeH1961 upH5927: and it shall be, that the manH376 who killeth him, the kingH4428 will enrichH6238 him with greatH1419 richesH6239, and will giveH5414 him his daughterH1323, and makeH5414 his father’sH1 houseH1004 freeH2670 in IsraelH3478.

And DavidH1732 spake to the menH376 that stoodH5975 by him, sayingH559, WhatH4100 shall be doneH6213 to the manH376 that killeth this PhilistineH6430, and taketh awayH5493 the reproachH2781 from IsraelH3478? for who is this uncircumcisedH6189 PhilistineH6430, that he should defyH2778 the armiesH4634 of the livingH2416 GodH430?

And the peopleH5971 answeredH559 him after this mannerH1697, sayingH559, SoH6213 shall it be doneH6213 to the manH376 that killeth him.

And EliabH446 his eldest brotherH251 heardH8085 when he spake unto the menH376; and Eliab’sH446 angerH639 was kindledH2734 againstH5921 DavidH1732, and he saidH559, WhyH4100 art thou comeH3381 downH3381? and with whomH4310 hast thou leftH5203 thoseH376 fewH4592 sheepH6629 in the wildernessH4057? I knowH3045 thy prideH2087, and the naughtiness of thine heartH3824; for thou art comeH3381 downH3381 that thou mightest seeH7200 the battleH4421.

And DavidH1732 saidH559, WhatH4100 have I nowH6258 doneH6213? Is there notH3808 a causeH1697?

And he turnedH7725 awayH7725 from him towardH413 anotherH312, and spake afterH413 the sameH2088 mannerH1697: and the peopleH5971 answeredH559 him againH7725 afterH413 the formerH7223 mannerH1697.

And when the wordsH1697 were heardH8085 whichH834 DavidH1732 spake, they rehearsed them beforeH6440 SaulH7586; and he sentH3947 for him.

And DavidH1732 saidH559 to SaulH7586, LetH408 noH408 man’sH120 heartH3820 failH5307 becauseH5921 of him; thy servantH5650 will goH5307 and fightH3898 with this PhilistineH6430.

And SaulH7586 saidH559 to DavidH1732, Thou art notH3808 ableH3201 to go againstH413 this PhilistineH6430 to fightH3898 with him: for thou art but a youthH5271, and he a manH376 of warH4421 from his youthH5271.

And DavidH1732 saidH559 unto SaulH7586, Thy servantH5650 kept his father’sH1 sheepH6629; and when there cameH935 a lionH738, or a bearH5375, and tookH5375 a lambH7716 outH413 of the flockH6629,

I wentH3318 outH3318 afterH310 him, and smoteH5221 him, and deliveredH5337 it outH3318 of his mouthH6310: and when he aroseH6965 againstH5921 meH5921, I caughtH2388 him by his beardH2206, and smoteH5221 him, and slewH5221 him.

Thy servantH5650 smoteH5221 bothH1571 the lionH738 and the bearH1677: and this uncircumcisedH6189 PhilistineH6430 shall be as one of them, seeingH3588 he hath defied the armiesH4634 of the livingH2416 GodH430.

And DavidH1732 saidH559, The LORDH3068 that deliveredH5337 meH413 outH413 of the pawH3027 of the lionH738, and outH413 of the pawH3027 of the bearH1677, he will deliverH5337 meH413 outH413 of the handH3027 of this PhilistineH6430. And SaulH7586 saidH559 unto DavidH1732, GoH1961, and the LORDH3068 shall be with thee.

And SaulH7586 clad DavidH1732 with his apparelH3847, and he putH5414 an helmetH6959 of brassH5178 uponH5921 his headH7218, and he clad him with a coat of mail.
