Genesis 12:6-20
6AbramH87 passedH5674 through the landH776 as farH5704 as the siteH4725 of 1ShechemH7927, to the 2oakH436 of MorehH4176. Now the CanaanitesH3669 were in the landH776 atH227 thatH227 timeH227. 7And the LordH3068 3appearedH7200 to AbramH87 and saidH559, “4To your 5descendantsH2233 I will giveH5414 thisH2088 landH776.” So he builtH1129 6an altarH4196 thereH8033 to the LordH3068 who had appearedH7200 to him. 8Then he proceededH6275 from thereH8033 to the mountainH2022 on the eastH6924 of BethelH1008, and pitchedH5186 his tentH168 with 7BethelH1008 on the westH3220 and AiH5857 on the eastH6924; and thereH8033 he builtH1129 an altarH4196 to the LordH3068 and 8calledH7121 upon the nameH8034 of the LordH3068. 9Then AbramH87 journeyedH5265 onH5265, continuingH1980H5265 toward 9the 10NegevH5045.
10Now there was 11a famineH7458 in the landH776; so AbramH87 wentH3381 downH3381 to EgyptH4714 to liveH1481 thereH8033 forH1481 aH1481 timeH1481, becauseH3588 the famineH7458 was 12severeH3515 in the landH776. 11It cameH1961 aboutH1961, whenH3512 he 13was approachingH7126H935 EgyptH4714, that he saidH559 to his wifeH802 SaraiH8297, “SeeH2009 nowH4994, I knowH3045 that you are a 1415beautifulH3303 womanH802; 1216and whenH3588 the EgyptiansH4713 seeH7200 you, they will sayH559, ‘ThisH2088 is his wifeH802’; and they will killH2026 me, but they will let you liveH2421. 13PleaseH4994 sayH559 that you are 17my sisterH269 soH4616 thatH4616 it may goH3190 wellH3190 for me becauseH5668 of you, and that 1819I may liveH2421 on accountH1558 of you.” 14Now it cameH1961 aboutH1961, when AbramH87 enteredH935 EgyptH4714, that the EgyptiansH4713 20sawH7200 that the womanH802 was veryH3966 beautifulH3303. 15Pharaoh’sH6547 officialsH8269 sawH7200 her and praisedH1984 her to PharaohH6547; and 21the womanH802 was takenH3947 into Pharaoh’sH6547 houseH1004. 16Therefore 22he treatedH3190 AbramH87 wellH3190 for her sakeH5668; and 2324he gaveH1961 him sheepH6629, oxenH1241, maleH2543 donkeysH2543, maleH5650 servantsH5650 and femaleH8198 servantsH8198, femaleH860 donkeysH860, and camelsH1581.
17But the LordH3068 25struckH5060 PharaohH6547 and his houseH1004 with greatH1419 plaguesH5061 becauseH5921H1697 of SaraiH8297, Abram’sH87 wifeH802. 18Then PharaohH6547 calledH7121 AbramH87 and saidH559, “26WhatH4100 is thisH2088 that you have doneH6213 to me? WhyH4100 did you not tellH5046 me that she was your wifeH802? 19WhyH4100 did you sayH559, ‘She is my sisterH269,’ so that I tookH3947 her for myself as a wifeH802? NowH6258 then, 27hereH2009 is your wifeH802, takeH3947 her and goH1980!” 20And PharaohH6547 commandedH6680 his menH376 concerningH5921 him; and they 28escortedH7971 him awayH7971, with his wifeH802 and allH3605 that belonged to him.
