2 Kings 9:11-37
11Now JehuH3058 wentH3318 outH3318 to the servantsH5650 of his masterH113, and one saidH559 to him, “1Is everythingH7965 wellH7965? WhyH4069 did thisH2088 2crazyH7696 fellowH7696 comeH935 to you?” And he saidH559 to them, “You knowH3045 very well the manH376 and his talkH7879.” 12And they saidH559, “It is a lieH8267; tellH5046 us nowH4994.” And he saidH559, “SuchH2088 and suchH2088 he saidH559 to me, sayingH559, ‘ThisH3541 isH3541 whatH3541 the LordH3068 saysH559: “I have anointedH4886 you kingH4428 overH413 IsraelH3478.”’” 13Then 3they hurriedH4116, and eachH376 manH376 tookH3947 his garmentH899 and putH7760 it underH8478 him on the bareH1634 stepsH4609, and 4blewH8628 the trumpetH7782, sayingH559, “JehuH3058 isH4427 kingH4427!”
14So JehuH3058 the sonH1121 of JehoshaphatH3092 the sonH1121 of NimshiH5250 conspiredH7194 againstH413 JoramH3141. 5Now JoramH3141 6with allH3605 IsraelH3478 was 7defendingH8104 Ramoth-gileadH7433 againstH4480H6440 HazaelH2371 kingH4428 of AramH758, 15but 8KingH4428 9JoramH3088 had returnedH7725 to JezreelH3157 to have himself healedH7495 of the woundsH4347 whichH834 the ArameansH761 had 10inflictedH5221 on him when he foughtH3898 HazaelH2371 kingH4428 of AramH758. So JehuH3058 saidH559 to the other men, “IfH518 this is your 11intentH5315, then let noH408 12oneH6412 escapeH6412H3318 from the cityH5892 to goH1980 tellH5046 about it in JezreelH3157.” 16Then JehuH3058 rodeH7392 inH7392 aH7392 chariotH7392 and wentH1980 to JezreelH3157, sinceH3588 JoramH3141 was lyingH7901 thereH8033 recovering. 13And AhaziahH274 the kingH4428 of JudahH3063 had comeH3381 downH3381 to seeH7200 JoramH3141.
17Now the watchmanH6822 was standingH5975 on the towerH4026 in JezreelH3157 and he sawH7200 the 14companyH8229 of JehuH3058 as he cameH935, and he saidH559, “I seeH7200 a 15companyH8229.” And 16JoramH3088 saidH559, “TakeH3947 a horsemanH7395 and sendH7971 him to meetH7122 them and have him 17askH559, ‘Is your intention peaceH7965?’” 18So a horsemanH7392H5483 wentH1980 to meetH7122 him and saidH559, “ThisH3541 isH3541 whatH3541 the kingH4428 saysH559: ‘Is your intention peaceH7965?’” But JehuH3058 saidH559, “1819HowH4100 is peaceH7965 any business of yours? TurnH5437 and followH310 me.” And the watchmanH6822 20reportedH5046, “The messengerH4397 cameH935 to them, but he did not returnH7725.” 19Then he sentH7971 a secondH8145 horsemanH7392H5483, and he cameH935 to them and saidH559, “ThisH3541 isH3541 whatH3541 the kingH4428 saysH559: ‘Is your intention peaceH7965?’” And JehuH3058 21answeredH559, “22HowH4100 is peaceH7965 any business of yours? TurnH5437 and followH310 me.” 20And the watchmanH6822 23reportedH5046, “He cameH935 up to them, but he did not returnH7725; and 24the 25drivingH4491 is like the drivingH4491 of 26JehuH3058 the sonH1121 of NimshiH5250, for he drivesH5090 furiouslyH7697.”
21Then 27JoramH3088 saidH559, “28GetH631 readyH631.” And they 29madeH631 his chariotH7393 readyH631. 30Then 31JoramH3088 kingH4428 of IsraelH3478 and AhaziahH274 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 wentH3318 outH3318, eachH376 in his chariotH7393, and they wentH3318 outH3318 to meetH7122 JehuH3058 and foundH4672 him on the 3233propertyH2513 of NabothH5022 the JezreeliteH3158. 22When 34JoramH3088 sawH7200 JehuH3058, he saidH559, “Is your intention peaceH7965, JehuH3058?” And he 35answeredH559, “WhatH4100 ‘peaceH7965,’ 36soH5704 longH5704 as your motherH517 Jezebel’sH348 acts of prostitutionH2183 and witchcraftH3785 are so manyH7227?” 23So 37JoramH3088 38turnedH2015H3027 backH2015 and fledH5127, and he saidH559 to AhaziahH274, “39There is treacheryH4820, AhaziahH274!” 24Then 40JehuH3058 41drewH4390 his bowH7198 with his fullH4390 strengthH3027 and 42shotH5221 43JoramH3088 betweenH996 his armsH2220; and the arrowH2678 wentH3318 44throughH3318 his heartH3820, and he sankH3766 in his chariotH7393. 25And Jehu saidH559 to BidkarH920 his officerH7991, “PickH5375 him upH5375 and 45throwH7993 him on the 46propertyH2513 of the fieldH7704 of NabothH5022 the JezreeliteH3158; for rememberH2142, when 47you and I were ridingH7392 togetherH6776 afterH310 his fatherH1 AhabH256, that the 48LordH3068 broughtH5375 thisH2088 49pronouncementH4853 againstH5921 him: 26‘50I have certainlyH518H3808 seenH7200 yesterdayH570 the bloodH1818 of NabothH5022 and the bloodH1818 of his sonsH1121,’ declaresH5002 the LordH3068, ‘and 51I will repayH7999 you on thisH2088 52propertyH2513,’ declaresH5002 the LordH3068. NowH6258 then, pickH5375 him upH5375 and throwH7993 him on the 53propertyH2513, in accordance with the wordH1697 of the LordH3068.”
2754When AhaziahH274 the kingH4428 of JudahH3063 sawH7200 this, he fledH5127 by wayH1870 of the gardenH1588 houseH1004. But JehuH3058 pursuedH7291 him and saidH559, “55ShootH5221 him tooH1571, in the chariotH4818.” So they shot him at the ascentH4608 of GurH1483, whichH834 is at 56IbleamH2991. But he fledH5127 to MegiddoH4023 and diedH4191 thereH8033. 2857Then his servantsH5650 carriedH7392 him inH7392 aH7392 chariotH7392 to JerusalemH3389, and buriedH6912 him in his graveH6900 with his fathersH1 in the cityH5892 of DavidH1732.
29Now in 58the eleventhH259H6240 yearH8141 of JoramH3141, the sonH1121 of AhabH256, AhaziahH274 becameH4427 kingH4427 overH5921 JudahH3063.
30When JehuH3058 cameH935 to JezreelH3157, JezebelH348 heardH8085 about it, and 59she putH7760 makeupH6320 on her eyesH5869 and adornedH3190 her headH7218, and lookedH8259 downH8259 throughH1157 the windowH2474. 31As JehuH3058 enteredH935 the gateH8179, she saidH559, “60Is your intention peaceH7965, ZimriH2174, his master’sH113 murdererH2026?” 32Then he raisedH5375 his faceH6440 towardH413 the windowH2474 and saidH559, “WhoH4310 is with me, whoH4310?” And twoH8147 or threeH7969 officialsH5631 lookedH8259 downH8259 at him. 33Then he saidH559, “ThrowH8058 her downH8058.” So they threwH8058 her downH8058, and someH4480 of her bloodH1818 spatteredH5137 on the wallH7023 and on the horsesH5483, and he trampledH7429 her underfootH7429. 34When he cameH935 inH935, he ateH398 and drankH8354; and he saidH559, “SeeH6485 nowH4994 to 61thisH2088 cursedH779 womanH779 and buryH6912 her, for 62she is a king’sH4428 daughterH1323.” 35So they wentH1980 to buryH6912 her, but they foundH4672 nothingH3808 of her exceptH3588H518 the skullH1538, the feetH7272, and the palmsH3709 of her handsH3027. 36Therefore they returnedH7725 and informedH5046 him. And he saidH559, “ThisH1931 is the wordH1697 of the LordH3068, whichH834 He spokeH1696 by His servantH5650 ElijahH452 the TishbiteH8664, sayingH559, ‘63On the 64propertyH2506 of JezreelH3157 the dogsH3611 shall eatH398 the fleshH1320 of JezebelH348; 37and 65the corpseH5038 of JezebelH348 will be like dungH1828 on the faceH6440 of the fieldH7704 in the 66propertyH2506 of JezreelH3157, soH834 they cannotH3808 sayH559, “ThisH2088 is JezebelH348.”’”
