2 Kings 7:11-20
11And the gatekeepersH7778 calledH7121 and announcedH5046 it insideH6441 the king’sH4428 houseH1004. 12Then the kingH4428 gotH6965 upH6965 in the nightH3915 and saidH559 to his servantsH5650, “I will nowH4994 tellH5046 you whatH834 the ArameansH758 have doneH6213 to us. They knowH3045 that 1we are hungryH7457; so they have leftH3318H4480 the campH4264 2to hideH2247 themselves in the fieldH7704, sayingH559, ‘WhenH3588 they comeH3318 outH3318 of the cityH5892, we will captureH8610 them aliveH2416 and getH935 into the cityH5892.’” 13OneH259 of his servantsH5650 respondedH6030 and saidH559, “PleaseH4994, have some men takeH3947 fiveH2568 of the horsesH5483 that remainH7604, whichH834 are leftH7604 3in the city. BeholdH2009, they will be in any case like allH3605 the multitudeH1995 of IsraelH3478 whoH834 are leftH7604 in it; beholdH2009, they will be like allH3605 the multitudeH1995 of IsraelH3478 whoH834 have already perishedH8552, so let us sendH7971 them and seeH7200.” 14Therefore they tookH3947 twoH8147 chariotsH7393 with horsesH5483, and the kingH4428 sentH7971 them afterH310 the armyH4264 of the ArameansH758, sayingH559, “GoH1980 and seeH7200.” 15They wentH1980 afterH310 them to the JordanH3383, and beholdH2009, allH3605 the wayH1870 was fullH4392 of clothesH899 and equipmentH3627 whichH834 the ArameansH758 had thrownH7993 awayH7993 when they fledH2648 inH2648 aH2648 hurryH2648. Then the messengersH4397 returnedH7725 and informedH5046 the kingH4428.
16So the peopleH5971 wentH3318 outH3318 and plunderedH962 the campH4264 of the ArameansH758. Then a 4measureH5429 of fineH5560 flourH5560 was sold for a shekelH8255, and two 5measuresH5429 of barleyH8184 for a shekelH8255, 6in accordance with the wordH1697 of the LordH3068. 17Now the kingH4428 appointedH6485 7the royalH7991 officerH7991 on whoseH834 handH3027 he leanedH8172 8to be inH5921 chargeH5921 ofH5921 the gateH8179; but the peopleH5971 trampledH7429 onH7429 him at the gateH8179, and he diedH4191, justH3512 asH3512 the manH376 of GodH430 had saidH1696, 9whoH834 spokeH1696 when the kingH4428 cameH3381 downH3381 to him. 18So it happenedH1961 just as the manH376 of GodH430 had spokenH1696 to the kingH4428, sayingH559, “10Two 11measuresH5429 of barleyH8184 for a shekelH8255 and a 12measureH5429 of fineH5560 flourH5560 for a shekelH8255, will be sold about this timeH6256 tomorrowH4279 at the gateH8179 of SamariaH8111.” 19At that time the royalH7991 officerH7991 had respondedH6030 to the manH376 of GodH430 and saidH559, “Now evenH2009 ifH2009 13the LordH3068 were to makeH6213 windowsH699 in heavenH8064, could such a thingH1697 as thisH2088 happenH1961?” And he had saidH559, “BeholdH2009, you are going to seeH7200 it with your own eyesH5869, but you will not eatH398 14any of it.” 20And thisH3651 is whatH3651 happenedH1961 to him, for the peopleH5971 trampledH7429 onH7429 him at the gateH8179 and he diedH4191.
