2 Kings 4:8-38
8Now a dayH3117 cameH1961 when ElishaH477 wentH5674 overH5674 to 1ShunemH7766, whereH8033 there was a 2prominentH1419 womanH802, and she urgedH2388 him to eatH398 3foodH3899. And so it was, as oftenH1767 as he passedH5674 byH5674, that he turnedH5493 inH5493 thereH8033 to eatH398 4foodH3899. 9And she saidH559 to her husbandH376, “BeholdH2009 nowH4994, I amH3045 awareH3045 that thisH1931 is a holyH6918 5manH376 of GodH430 passingH5674 by us repeatedlyH8548. 10PleaseH4994, let’s 6makeH6213 a littleH6996 walledH7023 upperH5944 roomH5944, and let’s setH7760 upH7760 a bedH4296 for him thereH8033, and a tableH7979, a chairH3678, and a lampstandH4501; then it shall be, when he comesH935 to us, that he can turnH5493 inH5493 thereH8033.”
11Now 7one dayH3117 he cameH935 thereH8033, and turnedH5493 inH5493 to the upperH5944 roomH5944 and 8restedH7901H8033. 12Then he saidH559 to his servantH5288 9GehaziH1522, “CallH7121 thisH2088 ShunammiteH7767.” And when he had calledH7121 her, she stoodH5975 beforeH6440 him. 13And he saidH559 to him, “SayH559 nowH4994 to her, ‘BeholdH2009, you have takenH2729 troubleH2729 for us with allH3605 thisH2088 10careH2731; whatH4100 can I doH6213 for you? 11WouldH3426 you likeH3426 me to speakH1696 for you to the kingH4428 orH176 to the commanderH8269 of the armyH6635?’” But she 12answeredH559, “I liveH3427 amongH8432 my own peopleH5971.” 14So he saidH559, “WhatH4100 then is to be doneH6213 for her?” And GehaziH1522 13answeredH559, “It is a factH61 that she hasH369 noH369 sonH1121, and her husbandH376 isH2204 oldH2204.” 15He then saidH559, “CallH7121 her.” When he had calledH7121 her, she stoodH5975 in the doorwayH6607. 16Then he saidH559, “14At thisH2088 seasonH4150 15nextH2416 yearH6256, you are going to embraceH2263 a sonH1121.” And she saidH559, “NoH408, my lordH113, you manH376 of GodH430, 16do not lieH3576 to your servantH8198.”
17Now the womanH802 conceivedH2029 and gaveH3205 birthH3205 to a sonH1121 at that seasonH4150 17the nextH2416 yearH6256, as ElishaH477 had toldH1696 her.
18When the childH3206 was grownH1431, the dayH3117 cameH1961 that he wentH3318 outH3318 to his fatherH1, to the reapersH7114. 19And he saidH559 to his fatherH1, “My headH7218, my headH7218!” And his father saidH559 to his servantH5288, “CarryH5375 him to his motherH517.” 20When he had carriedH5375 him and broughtH935 him to his motherH517, he satH3427 on her 18lapH1290 untilH5704 noonH6672, and then he diedH4191. 21And she wentH5927 upH5927 and 19laidH7901 him on the bedH4296 of 20the manH376 of GodH430, and shutH5462 the door behindH1157 him and leftH3318. 22Then she calledH7121 to her husbandH376 and saidH559, “PleaseH4994 sendH7971 me oneH259 of the servantsH5288 and oneH259 of the donkeysH860, so that I may runH7323 to the manH376 of GodH430 and returnH7725.” 23But he saidH559, “WhyH4069 are you goingH1980 to him todayH3117? It is neitherH3808 21newH2320 moonH2320 norH3808 SabbathH7676.” So she just saidH559, “It will be fineH7965.” 24Then she saddledH2280 the donkeyH860 and saidH559 to her servantH5288, “DriveH5090 the donkey and goH1980 on; do not slowH6113 downH6113 22the paceH7392 for me unlessH3588H518 I tellH559 you.” 25So she wentH1980 on and cameH935 to the manH376 of GodH430 at 23MountH2022 CarmelH3760.
When the manH376 of GodH430 sawH7200 her at a distanceH4480H5048, he saidH559 to GehaziH1522 his servantH5288, “BeholdH2009, thatH1975 personH1975 thereH1975 is the ShunammiteH7767. 26PleaseH4994 runH7323 nowH6258 to meetH7122 her and sayH559 to her, ‘Is it going wellH7965 for you? Is it going wellH7965 for your husbandH376? Is it going wellH7965 for the childH3206?’” Then she 24answeredH559, “It is going wellH7965.” 27But she cameH935 to the manH376 of GodH430 25at the hillH2022 and tookH2388 holdH2388 of his feetH7272. And GehaziH1522 cameH5066 upH5066 to pushH1920 her awayH1920, but the manH376 of GodH430 saidH559, “LeaveH7503 her aloneH7503, for her soulH5315 isH4843 26troubledH4843 within her; and the LordH3068 has concealedH5956 it from me and has not informedH5046 me.” 28Then she saidH559, “Did I askH7592 for a sonH1121 from my lordH113? Did I not sayH559, ‘27Do not giveH7951 me falseH7951 hopeH7951’?”
29Then he saidH559 to GehaziH1522, “2829GetH2296H4975 readyH2296H4975 and 30takeH3947 my staffH4938 in your handH3027, and goH1980; ifH3588 you meetH4672 anyoneH376, do not 3132greetH1288 him, and ifH3588 anyoneH376 33greetsH1288 you, do not replyH6030 to him. And 34layH7760 my staffH4938 on the boy’sH5288 faceH6440.” 30The motherH517 of the boyH5288 saidH559, “35As surely as the LordH3068 livesH2416 and you yourselfH5315 liveH2416, I will not leaveH5800 you.” So he gotH6965 upH6965 and followedH1980H310 her. 31Then GehaziH1522 wentH5674 onH5674 aheadH6440 of them and laidH7760 the staffH4938 on the boy’sH5288 faceH6440, but thereH369 wasH369 noH369 soundH6963 orH369 36responseH7182. So he returnedH7725 to meetH7122 him and informedH5046 him, sayingH559, “The boyH5288 37has not awakenedH7019.”
32When ElishaH477 enteredH935 the houseH1004, beholdH2009 the boyH5288 was deadH4191, laidH7901 on his bedH4296. 33So he enteredH935 and 38shutH5462 the doorH1817 behindH1157 them bothH8147, and he prayedH6419 to the LordH3068. 34Then 39he gotH5927 upH5927 on the bed and layH7901 on the childH3206, and putH7760 his mouthH6310 on his mouthH6310, his eyesH5869 on his eyesH5869, his handsH3709 on his handsH3709, and he bentH1457 downH1457 on him; and the fleshH1320 of the childH3206 becameH2552 warmH2552. 35Then he returnedH7725 and walkedH1980 in the houseH1004 backH2008 and forthH2008 onceH259, and wentH5927 upH5927 and 40bentH1457 downH1457 on him; and the boyH5288 sneezedH2237 sevenH7651 timesH6471, then the boyH5288 openedH6491 his eyesH5869. 36And he calledH7121 GehaziH1522 and saidH559, “CallH7121 thisH2088 ShunammiteH7767.” So he calledH7121 her. And when she cameH935 to him, he saidH559, “PickH5375 upH5375 your sonH1121.” 37Then she cameH935 inH935 and fellH5307 at his feetH7272 and bowedH2331 downH2331 to the groundH776, and 41she pickedH5375 upH5375 her sonH1121 and leftH3318.
38When ElishaH477 returnedH7725 to 42GilgalH1537, there was 43a famineH7458 in the landH776. 44As 45the sonsH1121 of the prophetsH5030 46were sittingH3427 in frontH6440 of him, he saidH559 to his servantH5288, “47PutH8239 on the largeH1419 potH5518 and boilH1310 stewH5138 for the sonsH1121 of the prophetsH5030.”
