1 Kings 3:3-13
3Now 1SolomonH8010 lovedH157 the LordH3068, 2walkingH1980 in the statutesH2708 of his fatherH1 DavidH1732, exceptH7534 that he was sacrificingH2076 and burningH6999 incenseH6999 on the highH1116 placesH1116. 4And 3the kingH4428 wentH1980 to 4GibeonH1391 to sacrificeH2076 thereH8033, 5becauseH3588 that was the greatH1419 highH1116 placeH1116; SolomonH8010 offeredH5927 a thousandH505 burntH5930 offeringsH5930 on that altarH4196. 56In GibeonH1391 the LordH3068 appearedH7200 to SolomonH8010 7in a dreamH2472 at nightH3915; and GodH430 saidH559, “8AskH7592 whatH4100 you wish Me to giveH5414 you.” 6Then SolomonH8010 saidH559, “9You have shownH6213 greatH1419 faithfulnessH2617 to Your servantH5650 DavidH1732 my fatherH1, 10accordingH3512 asH3512 he walkedH1980 beforeH6440 You in 11truthH571, righteousnessH6666, and uprightnessH3483 of heartH3824 towardH5973 You; and 12You have 13reservedH8104 for him thisH2088 greatH1419 faithfulnessH2617, that You have givenH5414 him a sonH1121 to sitH3427 on his throneH3678, as it is thisH2088 dayH3117. 7And nowH6258, LordH3068 my GodH430, 14You have madeH4427 Your servantH5650 kingH4427 inH8478 placeH8478 ofH8478 my fatherH1 DavidH1732, yet 15I am like a littleH6996 boyH5288; 16I do not knowH3045 how to 17goH3318 outH3318 or comeH935 inH935. 8And 18Your servantH5650 is in the midstH8432 of Your peopleH5971 whomH834 You have chosenH977, 19a greatH7227 peopleH5971 whoH834 are tooH4480 manyH7230 to be numberedH4487 or countedH5608. 9So 20giveH5414 Your servantH5650 21an understandingH8085 heartH3820 to judgeH8199 Your peopleH5971, 22to discernH995 betweenH996 goodH2896 and evilH7451. For whoH4310 isH3201 capableH3201 of judgingH8199 thisH2088 23greatH3515 peopleH5971 of Yours?”
10Now 24it was pleasingH3190 in the sightH5869 of the LordH136 that SolomonH8010 had askedH7592 thisH2088 thingH1697. 11And GodH430 saidH559 to him, “BecauseH3282H834 you have askedH7592 thisH2088 thingH1697, and have 25not askedH7592 for yourself 26a longH7227 lifeH3117, norH3808 have askedH7592 richesH6239 for yourself, norH3808 have you askedH7592 for the livesH5315 of your enemiesH340, but have askedH7592 for yourself discernmentH995 to understandH8085 justiceH4941, 12beholdH2009, 27I have doneH6213 according to your wordsH1697. BeholdH2009, 28I have givenH5414 you a wiseH2450 and discerningH995 heartH3820, soH834 thatH834 there has beenH1961 noH3808 one likeH3644 you beforeH6440 you, norH3808 shall one likeH3644 you ariseH6965 afterH310 you. 1329I have alsoH1571 givenH5414 you whatH834 you have not askedH7592, bothH1571 30richesH6239 and honorH3519, soH834 thatH834 there will not be anyH376 among the kingsH4428 likeH3644 you allH3605 your daysH3117.
