Song of Songs 1:5-17

“I am black and 1beautiful, You 2daughters of Jerusalem, Like the 3tents of 4Kedar, Like the curtains of Solomon.6Do not stare at me because I am 5dark, For the sun has tanned me. My 6mother’s sons were angry with me; They made me 7caretaker of the vineyards, But I have not taken care of my own vineyard.7Tell me, you 8whom my soul loves, Where do you 9pasture your flock, Where do you have it 10lie down at noon? For why should I be like one who 11veils herself Beside the flocks of your 12companions?”

“If you yourself do not know, 13Most beautiful among women, Go out on the trail of the flock, And pasture your young goats By the tents of the shepherds.

“14To me, 15my darling, you are like My 16mare among the chariots of Pharaoh.10Your 17cheeks are delightful with jewelry, Your neck with strings of 18beads.”

“We will make for you jewelry of gold With beads of silver.”

“While the king was at his table, My 19 20perfume gave forth its fragrance.13My beloved is to me a pouch of 21myrrh Which lies all night between my breasts.14My beloved is to me a cluster of 22henna blossoms In the vineyards of 23Engedi.”

“24 25How beautiful you are, my darling, 26How beautiful you are! Your 27eyes are like doves.”

“28How handsome you are, 29my beloved, And so delightful! Indeed, our bed is luxuriant!17The beams of our house are 30cedars, Our rafters, 31junipers.
