18Then they calledוַֽיִּקְרְאוּ֙vai.yik.re.'UH7121to the kingהַמֶּ֔לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428, andEliakimאֶלְיָקִ֥ים'el.ya.KimH471the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Hilkiahחִלְקִיָּ֖הוּchil.ki.Ya.huH2518,whoאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834was inH5921chargeH5921ofH5921the householdהַבָּ֑יִתha.Ba.yitH1004,Shebnahוְשֶׁבְנָה֙ve.shev.NahH7644the scribeH5613,and Joahוְיוֹאָ֥חve.yo.'AchH3098the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Asaphאָסָ֖ף'a.SafH623the secretaryH4206,wentH3318outH3318to them.

19And RabshakehH7262saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to them, “Sayאִמְרוּ־'im.ru-H559nowנָ֖אna'H4994to Hezekiahחִזְקִיָּ֑הוּchiz.ki.Ya.huH2396, ‘ThisH3541isH3541whatH3541the greatהַגָּדוֹל֙ha.ga.dOlH1419kingהַמֶּ֤לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428,the kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Assyriaאַשּׁ֔וּר'a.ShurH804saysאָמַ֞ר'a.MarH559: “Whatמָ֧הmahH4100is thisהַזֶּ֖הha.ZehH2088confidenceהַבִּטָּח֛וֹןha.bi.ta.ChonH986that youhaveבָּטָֽחְתָּ׃ba.Ta.che.taH982?

20You sayאָמַ֙רְתָּ֙'a.Mar.taH559--but they areonlyאַךְ־'akh-H389emptyשְׂפָתַ֔יִםse.fa.Ta.yimH8193wordsדְּבַר־de.var-H1697-I havea planעֵצָ֥ה'e.TzahH6098and strengthוּגְבוּרָ֖הu.ge.vu.RahH1369for the warלַמִּלְחָמָ֑הla.mil.cha.MahH4421.’Nowעַתָּה֙'a.TahH6258on whomמִ֣יmiH4310have you reliedבָטַ֔חְתָּva.Tach.taH982,that you have revoltedמָרַ֖דְתָּma.Rad.taH4775against me?

21Nowעַתָּ֡ה'a.TahH6258beholdהִנֵּ֣הhi.NehH2009, you havereliedבָטַ֣חְתָּva.Tach.taH982on thesupportמִשְׁעֶנֶת֩mish.'e.NetH4938of thisהַזֶּה֙ha.ZehH2088brokenהָרָצ֤וּץha.ra.TzutzH7533reedהַקָּנֶ֨הha.ka.NehH7070,on Egyptמִצְרַ֔יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714;on whichאֲשֶׁ֨ר'a.SherH834if a manאִישׁ֙'ishH376leansיִסָּמֵ֥ךְyi.sa.MekhH5564,it will goוּבָ֥אu.Va'H935into hishandבְכַפּ֖וֹve.kha.PoH3709and pierceוּנְקָבָ֑הּu.ne.ka.VahH5344it. 23Nowוְעַתָּה֙ve.'a.TahH6258then,comeנָ֔אNa'H4994makeהִתְעָ֣רֶבhit.'A.revH6148aH6148wagerH6148with my masterאֲדֹנִ֖י'a.do.NiH113the kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Assyriaאַשּׁ֑וּר'a.ShurH804:I will giveוְאֶתְּנָ֤הve.'e.te.NahH5414you two thousandאַלְפַּ֣יִם'al.Pa.yimH505horsesסוּסִ֔יםsu.SimH5483,ifאִם־'im-H518you areH3201ableתּוּכַ֕לtu.KhalH3201on your part to putלָ֥תֶתLa.tetH5414ridersרֹכְבִ֥יםro.khe.VimH7392on them!

24Howוְאֵ֣יךְve.'EikhH349then can you driveH7725backתָּשִׁ֗יבta.ShivH7725evenoneאַחַ֛ד'a.ChadH259officialפַחַ֥תfa.ChatH6346of the leastהַקְּטַנִּ֑יםha.ke.ta.NimH6996of my master’sאֲדֹנִ֖י'a.do.NiH113servantsעַבְדֵ֥י'av.DeiH5650, andrelyוַתִּבְטַ֤חva.tiv.TachH982on Egyptמִצְרַ֔יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714for chariotsלְרֶ֖כֶבle.Re.khevH7393and horsemenוּלְפָרָשִֽׁים׃u.le.fa.ra.ShimH6571?

25Have I nowעַתָּה֙'a.TahH6258comeעָלִ֛יתִי'a.Li.tiH5927upH5927withoutהֲמִבַּלְעֲדֵ֣יha.mi.bal.'a.DeiH1107the Lord’sיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068approval againstעַל־'al-H5921thisH2088placeהַמָּק֥וֹםha.ma.KomH4725to destroyלְהַשְׁחִת֑וֹle.hash.chi.ToH7843it? The Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068saidאָמַ֣ר'a.MarH559to me, ‘Goעֲלֵ֛ה'a.LehH5927upH5927againstעַל־'al-H5921thisH2088landהָאָ֥רֶץha.'A.retzH776and destroyוְהַשְׁחִיתָֽהּ׃ve.hash.chi.TahH7843it.’”’”

26Then Eliakimאֶלְיָקִ֣ים'el.ya.KimH471the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Hilkiahחִ֠לְקִיָּהוּChil.ki.ya.huH2518,Shebnahוְשֶׁבְנָ֨הve.shev.NahH7644,and Joahוְיוֹאָ֜חve.yo.'AchH3098,saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to RabshakehH7262, “Speakדַּבֶּר־da.ber-H1696nowנָ֤אna'H4994to your servantsעֲבָדֶ֙יךָ֙'a.va.Dei.khaH5650in Aramaicאֲרָמִ֔ית'a.ra.MitH762,becauseכִּ֥יkiH3588weunderstandשֹׁמְעִ֖יםsho.me.'ImH8085it;and do not speakתְּדַבֵּ֤רte.da.BerH1696with us inJudeanיְהוּדִ֔יתye.hu.DitH3066so that the peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971whoאֲשֶׁ֖ר'a.SherH834are on the wallהַחֹמָֽה׃ha.cho.MahH2346hearבְּאָזְנֵ֣יbe.'a.ze.NeiH241you.”

27But RabshakehH7262saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to them, “Has my masterאֲדֹנֶ֤יךָ'a.do.Nei.khaH113sentשְׁלָחַ֣נִיshe.la.Cha.niH7971me onlyto your masterאֲדֹנִ֔י'a.do.NiH113and to you to speakלְדַבֵּ֖רle.da.BerH1696theseהָאֵ֑לֶּהha.'E.lehH428wordsהַדְּבָרִ֣יםha.de.va.RimH1697? 28Then RabshakehH7262stoodוַֽיַּעֲמֹד֙vai.ya.'a.ModH5975up and shoutedוַיִּקְרָ֥אvai.yik.Ra'H7121with a loudגָּד֖וֹלga.DolH1419voiceבְקוֹל־ve.kol-H6963in Judeanיְהוּדִ֑יתye.hu.DitH3066,sayingוַיְדַבֵּ֣ר וַיֹּ֔אמֶרvay.da.Ber vai.Yo.merH1696 H559, “Hearשִׁמְע֛וּshim.'UH8085the wordדְּבַר־de.var-H1697of the greatהַגָּד֖וֹלha.ga.DolH1419kingהַמֶּ֥לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428,the kingמֶ֥לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Assyriaאַשּֽׁוּר׃'a.ShurH804!

29ThisH3541isH3541whatH3541the kingהַמֶּ֔לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428saysאָמַ֣ר'a.MarH559: ‘Do not let Hezekiahחִזְקִיָּ֑הוּchiz.ki.Ya.huH2396deceiveH5378you, for he will not beH3201ableיוּכַ֔לyu.KhalH3201to saveלְהַצִּ֥ילle.ha.TzilH5337you frommy handמִיָּדֽוֹ׃mi.ya.DoH3027.

30And do not let Hezekiahחִזְקִיָּ֙הוּ֙chiz.ki.Ya.huH2396lead you to trustיַבְטַ֨חyav.TachH982in the Lordיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068by sayingלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559, “The Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068will certainlyהַצֵּ֥לha.TzelH5337saveיַצִּילֵ֖נוּya.tzi.Le.nuH5337us, and thisH2088cityהָעִ֣ירha.'IrH5892will not be handedבְּיַ֖דbe.YadH5414 H3027overH5414to the kingמֶ֥לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Assyriaאַשּֽׁוּר׃'a.ShurH804.”

31Do not listenתִּשְׁמְע֖וּtish.me.'UH8085to Hezekiahחִזְקִיָּ֑הוּchiz.ki.Ya.huH2396,for thisH3541isH3541whatH3541the kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Assyriaאַשּׁ֗וּר'a.ShurH804saysאָמַ֜ר'a.MarH559: “Makeעֲשֽׂוּ־'a.su-H6213your peaceבְרָכָה֙ve.ra.KhahH1293with me and comeוּצְא֣וּu.tze.'UH3318outH3318to me, and eatוְאִכְל֤וּve.'ikh.LuH398,eachאִישׁ־'ish-H376one, fromhis vineגַּפְנוֹ֙gaf.NoH1612and eachוְאִ֣ישׁve.'IshH376fromhis figתְּאֵֽנָת֔וֹte.'e.na.ToH8384treeH8384,and drinkוּשְׁת֖וּu.she.TuH8354,eachאִ֥ישׁ'ishH376one, the watersמֵֽי־mei-H4325of his own cisternבוֹרֽוֹ׃vo.RoH953,

36But the peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971wereH2790silentוְהֶחֱרִ֣ישׁוּve.he.che.Ri.shuH2790and did not answerעָנ֥וּ'a.NuH6030him with evena wordדָּבָ֑רda.VarH1697,becauseכִּי־ki-H3588it was the king’sהַמֶּ֥לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428commandמִצְוַ֨תmitz.VatH4687: “Do not answerתַעֲנֻֽהוּ׃ta.'a.Nu.huH6030him.”
