6In the ninthהַתְּשִׁיעִ֜יתha.te.shi.'ItH8671yearבִּשְׁנַ֨תbish.NatH8141of Hosheaלְהוֹשֵׁ֗עַle.ho.She.a'H1954,the kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Assyriaאַשּׁוּר֙'a.ShurH804capturedלָכַ֤דla.KhadH3920Samariaשֹׁ֣מְר֔וֹןsho.me.RonH8111andledH1540the people ofIsraelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478intoH1540exileוַיֶּ֥גֶלvai.Ye.gelH1540to Assyriaאַשּׁ֑וּרָה'a.Shu.rahH804, andsettledוַיֹּ֨שֶׁבvai.Yo.shevH3427them in Halahבַּחְלַ֧חbach.LachH2477and Haborוּבְחָב֛וֹרu.ve.cha.VorH2249, onthe riverנְהַ֥רne.HarH5104ofGozanגּוֹזָ֖ןgo.ZanH1470, andin the citiesוְעָרֵ֥יve.'a.ReiH5892of the Medesמָדָֽי׃ פma.DaiH4074.

7Now thiscameH1961aboutH1961becauseכִּֽי־ki-H3588the sonsבְנֵֽי־ve.nei-H1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478had sinnedחָטְא֤וּcha.te.'UH2398against the Lordלַיהוָ֣הla.Yah.wehH3068their Godאֱלֹהֵיהֶ֔ם'e.lo.hei.HemH430,who had broughtH5927them upH5927from the landמֵאֶ֣רֶץme.'E.retzH776of Egyptמִצְרַ֔יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714,from underמִתַּ֕חַתmi.Ta.chatH8478the handיַ֖דyadH3027of Pharaohפַּרְעֹ֣הpar.'OhH6547,kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Egyptמִצְרָ֑יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714; and they hadfearedוַיִּֽירְא֖וּvai.yi.re.'UH3372otherאֲחֵרִֽים׃'a.che.RimH312godsאֱלֹהִ֥ים'E.lo.HimH430.

8They alsofollowedוַיֵּֽלְכוּ֙vai.ye.le.KhuH1980thecustomsבְּחֻקּ֣וֹתbe.chu.KotH2708of the nationsהַגּוֹיִ֔םha.go.YimH1471whomאֲשֶׁר֙'a.SherH834the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068had drivenH3423outH3423from the sonsבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478, and in the customsof the kingsוּמַלְכֵ֥יu.mal.KheiH4428of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478whichאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834they hadintroducedעָשֽׂוּ׃'a.SuH6213.

9And the sonsבְנֵֽי־ve.nei-H1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478didH2644thingsדְּבָרִים֙de.va.RimH1697secretlyH2644againstעַל־'al-H5921the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068their Godאֱלֹהֵיהֶ֑ם'e.lo.hei.HemH430whichאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834were not rightH3653.Moreover, they builtוַיִּבְנ֨וּvai.yiv.NuH1129for themselves highבָּמוֹת֙ba.mOtH1116placesH1116in allבְּכָל־be.kholH3605their townsעָ֣רֵיהֶ֔ם'a.rei.HemH5892, fromwatchtowerמִמִּגְדַּ֥לmi.mig.DalH4026to fortifiedמִבְצָֽר׃miv.TzarH4013cityעִ֥יר'irH5892.

10Andthey setH5324upH5324for themselves memorialH4676stonesH4676andAsherimוַאֲשֵׁרִ֑יםva.'a.she.RimH842on everyכָּל־kol-H3605highגְבֹהָ֔הge.vo.HahH1364hillגִּבְעָ֣הgiv.'AhH1389and underוְתַ֖חַתve.Ta.chatH8478everyכָּל־kol-H3605greenרַעֲנָֽן׃ra.'a.NanH7488treeעֵ֥ץ'etzH6086,

11and thereשָׁם֙shamH8033they burnedH6999incenseH6999on allבְּכָל־be.kholH3605the highבָּמ֔וֹתba.MotH1116placesH1116as the nationsכַּגּוֹיִ֕םka.go.YimH1471didthat the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068had takenH1540intoH1540exileהֶגְלָ֥הheg.LahH1540beforeמִפְּנֵיהֶ֑םmi.pe.nei.HemH4480 H6440them; and they didוַֽיַּעֲשׂוּ֙vai.ya.'a.SuH6213evilרָעִ֔יםra.'ImH7451thingsדְּבָרִ֣יםde.va.RimH1697,provokingלְהַכְעִ֖יסle.hakh.'IsH3707the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.

12They servedוַיַּֽעַבְד֖וּvai.ya.'av.DuH5647idolsהַגִּלֻּלִ֑יםha.gi.lu.LimH1544,concerning whichאֲשֶׁ֨ר'a.SherH834the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068had saidאָמַ֤ר'a.MarH559to them, “You shall not doתַעֲשׂ֖וּta.'a.SuH6213thisהַזֶּֽה׃ha.ZehH2088thingהַדָּבָ֥רha.da.VarH1697.”

13Yet theLordיְהוָ֡הYah.wehH3068warnedוַיָּ֣עַדvai.Ya.'adH5749Israelבְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֣לbe.Yis.ra.'ElH3478and Judahוּבִיהוּדָ֡הu.vi.hu.DahH3063throughבְּיַד֩be.YadH3027allכָּל־kol-H3605His prophetsנְבִיאֵ֨יne.vi.'ovH5030andeveryכָל־khol-H3605seerחֹזֶ֜הcho.ZehH2374,sayingלֵאמֹ֗רle.MorH559, “Turnשֻׁ֝֠בוּShu.vuH7725backH7725from your evilהָֽרָעִים֙ha.ra.'ImH7451waysמִדַּרְכֵיכֶ֤םmi.dar.khei.KhemH1870and keepוְשִׁמְרוּ֙ve.shim.RuH8104My commandmentsמִצְוֹתַ֣יmitz.vo.TaiH4687andMy statutesחֻקּוֹתַ֔יchu.ko.TaiH2708in accordance with allכְּכָ֨ל־ke.Khal-H3605the Lawהַתּוֹרָ֔הha.to.RahH8451whichאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834I commandedצִוִּ֖יתִיtzi.Vi.tiH6680your fathersאֲבֹֽתֵיכֶ֑ם'a.vo.tei.KhemH1,and whichוַֽאֲשֶׁר֙va.'a.SherH834I sentשָׁלַ֣חְתִּיsha.Lach.tiH7971to youthroughבְּיַ֖דbe.YadH3027My servantsעֲבָדַ֥י'a.va.DaiH5650the prophetsהַנְּבִיאִֽים׃ha.ne.vi.'ImH5030.”

14However, they did not listenשָׁמֵ֑עוּsha.Me.'uH8085, butstiffenedוַיַּקְשׁ֤וּvai.yak.ShuH7185their neckH6203like their fathersאֲבוֹתָ֔ם'a.vo.TamH1,whoאֲשֶׁר֙'a.SherH834did not believeהֶאֱמִ֔ינוּhe.'e.Mi.nuH539in the Lordבַּֽיהוָ֖הba.Yah.wehH3068their Godאֱלֹהֵיהֶֽם׃'e.lo.hei.HemH430.

15They rejectedוַיִּמְאֲס֣וּvai.yim.'a.SuH3988His statutesחֻקָּ֗יוchu.KavH2706andHis covenantבְּרִיתוֹ֙be.ri.ToH1285whichH834He madeכָּרַ֣תka.RatH3772with their fathersאֲבוֹתָ֔ם'a.vo.TamH1,and His warningsעֵֽדְוֹתָ֔יו'e.de.vo.TavH5715whichH834Hegaveהֵעִ֖ידhe.'IdH5749them. Andthey followedוַיֵּ֨לְכ֜וּ אַחֲרֵ֤יvai.Ye.le.khu 'a.cha.ReiH1980 H310idolsהַהֶ֙בֶל֙ha.He.velH1892andbecameH1891emptyH1891,and followedוְאַחֲרֵ֤יve.'a.cha.ReiH310the nationsהַגּוֹיִם֙ha.go.YimH1471that surroundedסְבִֽיבֹתָ֔םse.vi.vo.TamH5439them, aboutwhichH834theLordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068had commandedצִוָּ֤הtzi.VahH6680them not to doעֲשׂ֥וֹתa.SotH6213as they did.

16And they abandonedוַיַּעַזְב֗וּvai.ya.'az.VuH5800allכָּל־kol-H3605the commandmentsמִצְוֹת֙mitz.VotH4687of the Lordיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068their Godאֱלֹהֵיהֶ֔ם'e.lo.hei.HemH430and madeוַיַּעֲשׂ֥וּvai.ya.'a.SuH6213for themselves castH4541metalH4541imagesמַסֵּכָ֖הma.se.KhahH4541:twoשְׁנֵ֣יshe.neimH8147calvesעֲגָלִ֑ים'a.ga.LimH5695. And theymadeוַיַּעֲשׂ֣וּvai.ya.'a.SuH6213anAsherahאֲשֵׁירָ֗ה'a.shei.RahH842, andworshipedH2331allלְכָל־le.kholH3605the heavenlyהַשָּׁמַ֔יִםha.sha.Ma.yimH8064lightsצְבָ֣אtze.Va'H6635, andservedוַיַּעַבְד֖וּvai.ya.'av.DuH5647Baalהַבָּֽעַל׃ha.Ba.'alH1168.

17Thenthey made their sonsבְּנֵיהֶ֤םbe.nei.HemH1121and their daughtersבְּנֽוֹתֵיהֶם֙be.no.tei.HemH1323passוַֽ֠יַּעֲבִירוּVai.ya.'a.vi.ruH5674through the fireבָּאֵ֔שׁba.'EshH784, and theypracticedוַיִּקְסְמ֥וּvai.yik.se.MuH7080divinationקְסָמִ֖יםke.sa.MimH7081and interpretingH5172omensH5172, andgaveH4376themselves overH4376to doלַעֲשׂ֥וֹתla.'a.SotH6213evilהָרַ֛עha.Ra'H7451in the sightבְּעֵינֵ֥יbe.'ei.NeiH5869of the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068,provokingלְהַכְעִיסֽוֹ׃le.hakh.'i.SoH3707Him.

18So the Lordיְהוָ֤הYah.wehH3068was veryמְאֹד֙me.'OdH3966angryוַיִּתְאַנַּ֨ףvai.yit.'a.NafH599with Israelבְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לbe.Yis.ra.'ElH3478, and Heremovedוַיְסִרֵ֖םvay.si.RemH5493them from Hissightפָּנָ֑יוpa.NavH6440;noלֹ֣אlo'H3808one was leftנִשְׁאַ֔רnish.'ArH7604exceptלְבַדּֽוֹ׃le.va.DoH7534 H905the tribeשֵׁ֥בֶטShe.vetH7626of Judahיְהוּדָ֖הye.hu.DahH3063.
