27Then the kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Assyriaאַשּׁ֜וּר'a.ShurH804issuedH6680commandsוַיְצַ֨וvay.TzavH6680,sayingלֵאמֹ֗רle.MorH559, “Takeהֹלִ֤יכוּho.Li.khuH1980oneאֶחָ֤ד'e.ChadH259of the priestsמֵהַכֹּֽהֲנִים֙me.ha.ko.ha.NimH3548thereH8033whomאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834you ledH1540intoH1540exileהִגְלִיתֶ֣םhig.li.TemH1540, and havehim goוְיֵלְכ֖וּve.ye.le.KhuH1980and liveוְיֵ֣שְׁבוּve.Ye.she.vuH3427thereH8033;and have him teachוְיֹרֵ֕םve.yo.RemH3384them the customמִשְׁפַּ֖טmish.PatH4941of the Godאֱלֹהֵ֥י'e.lo.HeiH430of the landהָאָֽרֶץ׃ha.'A.retzH776.”

28So oneאֶחָ֣ד'e.ChadH259of the priestsמֵהַכֹּהֲנִ֗יםme.ha.ko.ha.NimH3548whomאֲשֶׁ֤ר'a.SherH834they had ledH1540intoH1540exileהִגְלוּ֙hig.LuH1540from Samariaמִשֹּׁ֣מְר֔וֹןmi.Sho.me.RonH8111cameוַיָּבֹ֞אvai.ya.Vo'H935and livedוַיֵּ֖שֶׁבvai.Ye.shevH3427in BethelH1008,and taughtמוֹרֶ֣הmo.RehH3384them howאֵ֖יךְ'eikhH349they were to fearיִֽירְא֥וּyi.re.'UH3372the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.

29But everyגּ֥וֹיGoyH1471nationגּ֖וֹיGoyH1471was stillmakingעֹשִׂ֔ים'o.SimH6213godsאֱלֹהָ֑יו'e.lo.HavH430of its own, and they putוַיַּנִּ֣יחוּ׀vai.ya.Ni.chuH5117themin the housesבְּבֵ֣יתbe.VeitH1004of the highהַבָּמ֗וֹתha.ba.MotH1116placesH1116whichאֲשֶׁ֤ר'a.SherH834the peopleH8118ofH8118SamariaH8118had madeעָשׂוּ֙'a.SuH6213,everyגּ֥וֹיGoyH1471nationגּוֹי֙goyH1471in their citiesבְּעָ֣רֵיהֶ֔םbe.'A.rei.HemH5892in whichאֲשֶׁ֛ר'a.SherH834they livedיֹשְׁבִ֖יםyo.she.VimH3427.

31and the AvvitesH5757madeעָשׂ֥וּ'a.SuH6213Nibhazנִבְחַ֖זniv.ChazH5026and Tartakתַּרְתָּ֑קtar.TakH8662; andthe Sepharvitesוְהַסְפַרְוִ֗יםve.has.far.VimH5616were burningשֹׂרְפִ֤יםso.re.FimH8313their childrenבְּנֵיהֶם֙be.nei.HemH1121in the fireבָּאֵ֔שׁba.'EshH784toAdrammelechלְאַדְרַמֶּ֥לֶךְle.'ad.ra.Me.lekhH152and Anammelechוַֽעֲנַמֶּ֖לֶךְva.'a.na.Me.lekhH6048,the godsאֱלֹהֵ֥י'e.lo.ahH430ofSepharvaimסְפַרְוָֽיִם׃se.fa.rimH5617.

33They fearedH3372the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068,yet they were servingעֹֽבְדִ֔ים'oe.DimH5647their own godsאֱלֹֽהֵיהֶם֙'e.lo.hei.HemH430in accordance with the customכְּמִשְׁפַּט֙ke.mish.PatH4941of the nationsהַגּוֹיִ֔םha.go.YimH1471from among whomאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834they had been takenH1540intoH1540exileהִגְל֥וּhig.LuH1540.
