4Then Jehoashיְהוֹאָ֜שׁye.ho.'AshH3060saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to the priestsהַכֹּהֲנִ֗יםha.ko.ha.NimH3548, “Allכֹּל֩kolH3605the moneyכֶּ֨סֶףKe.sefH3701of the sacredH6944offeringsH6944whichאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834is broughtיוּבָ֤אyu.Va'H935into the houseבֵית־veit-H1004of the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068,in currentעוֹבֵ֔רo.VerH5674moneyכֶּ֣סֶףKe.sefH3701, boththe moneyכֶּ֥סֶףKe.sefH3701of eachH376man’sH376assessmentעֶרְכּ֑וֹer.KoH6187andallכָּל־kol-H3605the moneyכֶּ֗סֶףKe.sefH3701whichאֲשֶׁ֤ר'a.SherH834anyone’sH376heartלֶב־lev-H3820promptsיַֽעֲלֶה֙ עַ֣לya.'a.Leh 'alH5927 H5921him to bringלְהָבִ֖יאle.ha.Vi'H935into the houseבֵּ֥יתbeitH1004of the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068,

5the priestsH3548are to takeיִקְח֤וּyik.ChuH3947it for themselves, eachH376from hisacquaintanceמַכָּר֑וֹma.ka.RoH4378;and they shall repairיְחַזְּקוּ֙ye.cha.ze.KuH2388damageבֶּ֣דֶקBe.dekH919to the houseH1004whereverשָׁ֖םshamH3605 H834 H8033any damageבָּֽדֶק׃ פBa.dekH919is foundיִמָּצֵ֥אyi.ma.Tze'H4672.”

6But it cameH1961aboutH1961that in the twenty-thirdעֶשְׂרִ֧ים וְשָׁלֹ֛שׁ'es.Rim ve.sha.LoshH6242 H7969yearH8141of Kingלַמֶּ֣לֶךְla.Me.lekhH4428Jehoashיְהוֹאָ֑שׁye.ho.'AshH3060,the priestsH3548had not repairedH2388anydamageH919to the houseH1004.

7So KingH4428JehoashH3060summonedוַיִּקְרָא֩vai.yik.Ra'H7121Jehoiadaלִיהוֹיָדָ֤עli.ho.ya.Da'H3077the priestH3548, and the otherpriestsH3548,and saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to them, “Whyמַדּ֛וּעַma.Du.a'H4069do you not repairH2388damageH919to the houseH1004?Nowוְעַתָּ֗הve.'a.TahH6258then, you are not to takeתִּקְחוּ־tik.chu-H3947any moremoneyכֶ֙סֶף֙khe.sefH3701from youracquaintancesמַכָּֽרֵיכֶ֔םma.ka.rei.KhemH4378,but giveתִּתְּנֻֽהוּ׃ti.te.Nu.huH5414it upH5414for the damageH919to the houseH1004.”

8The priestsH3548then agreedוַיֵּאֹ֖תוּvai.ye.'O.tuH225that they would not takeH3947any moremoneyH3701from the peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971,norH1115would theyrepairH2388damageH919to the houseH1004.

9Instead,Jehoiadaיְהוֹיָדָ֤עye.ho.ya.Da'H3077the priestH3548tookH3947a chestאֲר֣וֹן'a.RonH727and drilledוַיִּקֹּ֥בvai.yi.KoH5344a holeחֹ֖רchorH2356in its lidבְּדַלְתּ֑וֹbe.dal.ToH1817and putוַיִּתֵּ֣ןvai.yi.TenH5414it besideאֵ֨צֶל'E.tzelH681the altarהַמִּזְבֵּ֜חַha.miz.Be.achH4196,on the rightמִיָּמִ֗יןbai.ya.minH3225sideH3225as oneאִישׁ֙'ishH376comesבְּבֽוֹא־be.Vo'-H935into the houseH1004of the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068;and the priestsH3548who guardedשֹׁמְרֵ֣יsho.me.ReiH8104the thresholdהַסַּ֔ףha.SafH5592putוְנָֽתְנוּ־ve.na.te.nu-H5414in it allכָּל־kol-H3605the moneyH3701that was broughtהַמּוּבָ֥אha.mu.Va'H935into the houseH1004of the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.

10When they sawכִּרְאוֹתָ֔םkir.'o.TamH7200that there was a greatרַ֥בravH7227amount ofmoneyH3701in the chestH727,the king’sהַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ha.Me.lekhH4428scribeH5613and the highהַגָּד֔וֹלha.ga.DolH1419priestH3548wentH5927upH5927and tiedH6696itupH6696in bags, and countedוַיִּמְנ֔וּvai.yim.NuH4487the moneyH3701that was foundהַנִּמְצָ֥אha.nim.Tza'H4672in the houseH1004of the LordH3068.

11And they handedיְדֵי֙yadH5414 H3027the moneyH3701which was assessedהַֽמְתֻכָּ֔ןham.tu.KanH8505overH5414to those who didעֹשֵׂ֣י'o.SeiH6213the workהַמְּלָאכָ֔הha.me.la.KhahH4399,who hadH6485the oversightH6485of the houseH1004of the LordH3068; and theypaidH3318it outH3318to the carpentersלְחָרָשֵׁ֤י הָעֵץ֙le.cha.ra.Shei ha.'EtzH2796 H6086and the buildersוְלַבֹּנִ֔יםve.la.bo.NimH1129who workedהָעֹשִׂ֖יםha.'o.SimH6213on the houseH1004of the LordH3068;

12andto the masonsוְלַגֹּֽדְרִים֙ve.la.go.de.RimH1443and the stonecuttersוּלְחֹצְבֵ֣י הָאֶ֔בֶןu.le.cho.tze.Vei ha.'E.venH2672 H68,and for buyingוְלִקְנ֤וֹתve.lik.NotH7069timberH6086and cutמַחְצֵ֔בmach.TzevH4274stoneוְאַבְנֵ֣יve.'av.NeiH68to repairלְחַזֵּ֖קle.cha.ZekH2388the damageבֶּ֣דֶקBe.dekH919to the houseH1004of the LordH3068,and for everythingוּלְכֹ֛לu.le.KholH3605thatwas laidוַיּוֹצִיאֻ֜הוּvai.yo.tzi.'U.huH3318outיֵצֵ֥אye.Tze'H3318for the houseH1004to repairלְחָזְקָֽה׃le.cha.ze.KahH2388it.

13Howeverאַךְ֩'aKhH389there were not madeיֵעָשֶׂ֜הye.'a.SehH6213for the houseH1004of the LordH3068silverכֶּ֙סֶף֙ke.sefH3701cupsסִפּ֥וֹתsi.PotH5592,shearsמְזַמְּר֤וֹתme.za.me.RotH4212,bowlsמִזְרָקוֹת֙miz.ra.kOtH4219,trumpetsחֲצֹ֣צְר֔וֹתcha.Tzo.tze.RotH2689,anyH3605receptaclesכְּלִ֥יke.LiH3627of goldזָהָ֖בza.HavH2091,or receptaclesוּכְלִי־u.khe.li-H3627of silverכָ֑סֶףKha.sefH3701from the moneyהַכֶּ֖סֶףha.Ke.sefH3701which was broughtהַמּוּבָ֥אha.mu.Va'H935into the houseH1004of the LordH3068;

14for they gaveיִתְּנֻ֑הוּyi.te.Nu.huH5414that to those who didH6213the workהַמְּלָאכָ֖הha.me.la.KhahH4399,and with it they repairedוְחִזְּקוּ־ve.chi.ze.ku-H2388the houseH1004of the LordH3068.

15Moreover,they did not requireH2803anH2803accountingH2803fromH2803the menH376into whoseאֲשֶׁ֨ר'a.SherH834handsיָדָ֔םya.DamH3027they gaveH5414the moneyהַכֶּ֙סֶף֙ha.Ke.sefH3701to payH5414to those who didH6213the workH4399,becauseH3588they actedH6213faithfullyבֶאֱמֻנָ֖הve.'e.mu.NahH530.

16ThemoneyH3701from the guiltאָשָׁם֙'a.ShamH817offeringsH817andthe moneyH3701from the sinחַטָּא֔וֹתcha.ta.'otH2403offeringsH2403was not broughtיוּבָ֖אyu.Va'H935into the houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068;it belongedיִהְיֽוּ׃ פyih.YuH1961to the priestsלַכֹּהֲנִ֖יםla.ko.ha.NimH3548.
