9Adonijahאֲדֹנִיָּ֗הוּ'a.do.ni.Ya.huH138sacrificedוַיִּזְבַּ֣חvai.yiz.BachH2076sheepצֹ֤אןtzonH6629,oxenוּבָקָר֙u.va.KarH1241,and fattenedH4806steersH4806by thestoneאֶ֣בֶן'E.venH68of Zohelethהַזֹּחֶ֔לֶתha.zo.Che.letH2120,whichאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834is besideאֵ֖צֶל'E.tzelH681En-rogelH5883;and he invitedוַיִּקְרָ֗אvai.yik.Ra'H7121allכָּל־kol-H3605his brothersאֶחָיו֙'e.ChavH251,the king’sהַמֶּ֔לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428sonsבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121,and allוּלְכָל־u.le.khol-H3605the menH376of Judahיְהוּדָ֖הye.hu.DahH3063,the king’sהַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ha.Me.lekhH4428servantsעַבְדֵ֥י'av.DeiH5650.

10But he did not inviteקָרָֽא׃ka.Ra'H7121Nathanנָתָן֩na.TanH5416the prophetהַנָּבִ֨יאha.na.Vi'H5030,Benaiahוּבְנָיָ֜הוּu.ve.na.Ya.huH1141,the mightyהַגִּבּוֹרִ֛יםha.gi.bo.RimH1368menH1368,or his brotherאָחִ֖יו'a.ChivH251Solomonשְׁלֹמֹ֥הshe.lo.MohH8010.

11Then Nathanנָתָ֗ןna.TanH5416spokeוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toBathshebaH1339the motherאֵם־'em-H517of Solomonשְׁלֹמֹה֙she.lo.MohH8010,sayingלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559, “Have you not heardשָׁמַ֔עַתְּsha.Ma.'atH8085that Adonijahאֲדֹנִיָּ֣הוּ'a.do.ni.Ya.huH138the sonבֶן־ven-H1121of Haggithחַגִּ֑יתcha.GitH2294has becomeמָלַ֖ךְma.LakhH4427kingH4427,and Davidדָוִ֖דda.VidH1732our lordוַאֲדֹנֵ֥ינוּva.'a.do.Nei.nuH113does not knowיָדָֽע׃ya.Da'H3045it?

12So nowוְעַתָּ֕הve.'a.TahH6258comeלְכִ֛יle.KhiH1980,pleaseנָ֖אna'H4994let megiveאִיעָצֵ֥ךְ'i.'a.TzekhH3289you adviceעֵצָ֑ה'e.TzahH6098,and saveוּמַלְּטִי֙u.ma.le.TiH4422your lifeנַפְשֵׁ֔ךְnaf.ShekhH5315and the lifeנֶ֥פֶשׁNe.feshH5315of your sonבְּנֵ֖ךְbe.NekhH1121Solomonשְׁלֹמֹֽה׃she.lo.MohH8010.

13Goלְכִ֞יle.KhiH1980at onceוּבֹ֣אִי׀u.Vo.'iH935to Kingהַמֶּ֣לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428Davidדָּוִ֗דda.VidH1732and sayוְאָמַ֤רְתְּve.'a.MartH559to him, ‘Have you not, my lordאֲדֹנִ֣י'a.do.NiH113the kingהַמֶּ֗לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428,swornנִשְׁבַּ֤עְתָּnish.Ba'.taH7650to your servantלַאֲמָֽתְךָ֙la.'a.ma.te.KhaH519,sayingלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559, “Solomonשְׁלֹמֹ֤הshe.lo.MohH8010your sonבְנֵךְ֙ve.neKhH1121certainlyכִּֽי־ki-H3588shall beH4427kingH4427afterאַחֲרַ֔י'a.cha.RaiH310me, and he shall sitיֵשֵׁ֣בye.ShevH3427on my throneכִּסְאִ֑יkis.'IH3678”?Whyוּמַדּ֖וּעַu.ma.Du.a'H4069then has Adonijahאֲדֹנִיָֽהוּ׃'a.do.ni.Ya.huH138becomeH4427kingH4427?’

14Beholdהִנֵּ֗הhi.NehH2009,while you are stillעוֹדָ֛ךְo.DakhH5750thereשָׁ֖םshamH8033speakingמְדַבֶּ֥רֶתme.da.Be.retH1696with the kingהַמֶּ֑לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428,I will comeאָב֣וֹא'a.Vo'H935inH935afterאַחֲרַ֔יִךְ'a.cha.Ra.yikhH310you and confirmוּמִלֵּאתִ֖יu.mi.le.TiH4390your wordsדְּבָרָֽיִךְ׃de.va.Ra.yikhH1697.”

15So BathshebaH1339enteredוַתָּבֹ֨אva.ta.Vo'H935to the kingהַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ha.Me.lekhH4428in the bedroomהַחַ֔דְרָהha.Chad.rahH2315. Nowthe kingוְהַמֶּ֖לֶךְve.ha.Me.lekhH4428wasH2204veryמְאֹ֑דme.'OdH3966oldזָקֵ֣ןza.KenH2204,and Abishagוַֽאֲבִישַׁג֙va.'a.vi.ShagH49the Shunammiteהַשּׁ֣וּנַמִּ֔יתha.Shu.na.MitH7767was servingמְשָׁרַ֖תme.sha.RatH8334the kingהַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ha.Me.lekhH4428.

16Then BathshebaH1339bowedוַתִּקֹּ֣דva.ti.KodH6915and prostratedH2331herselfbefore the kingלַמֶּ֑לֶךְla.Me.lekhH4428.And the kingהַמֶּ֖לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428saidוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Whatמַה־mah-H4100is on your mind?”

17So she saidוַתֹּ֣אמֶרva.To.merH559to him, “My lordאֲדֹנִי֙'a.do.NiH113,you yourselfאַתָּ֨ה'a.TahH859sworeנִשְׁבַּ֜עְתָּnish.Ba'.taH7650to your servantלַֽאֲמָתֶ֔ךָla.'a.ma.Te.khaH519by the Lordבַּֽיהוָ֤הba.Yah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹהֶ֙יךָ֙'e.lo.Hei.khaH430, saying, ‘Your sonבְנֵ֖ךְve.NekhH1121Solomonשְׁלֹמֹ֥הshe.lo.MohH8010certainlyכִּֽי־ki-H3588shall beH4427kingH4427afterאַחֲרָ֑י'a.cha.RaiH310me, and he shall sitיֵשֵׁ֥בye.ShevH3427on my throneכִּסְאִֽי׃kis.'IH3678.’

18But nowוְעַתָּ֕הve.'a.TahH6258,beholdהִנֵּ֥הhi.NehH2009,Adonijahאֲדֹנִיָּ֖ה'a.do.ni.YahH138isH4427kingמָלָ֑ךְma.LakhH4427;and nowוְעַתָּ֛הve.'a.TahH6258,my lordאֲדֹנִ֥י'a.do.NiH113the kingהַמֶּ֖לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428,you do not knowיָדָֽעְתָּ׃ya.Da.'e.taH3045it.

19He has sacrificedוַ֠יִּזְבַּחVai.yiz.bachH2076oxenשׁ֥וֹרShorH7794and fattenedH4806steersH4806and sheepוְצֹאן֮ve.tzoNH6629in abundanceלָרֹב֒la.RoH7230,and has invitedוַיִּקְרָא֙vai.yik.Ra'H7121allלְכָל־le.kholH3605the sonsבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of the kingהַמֶּ֔לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428,Abiatharוּלְאֶבְיָתָר֙u.le.'ev.ya.TarH54the priestהַכֹּהֵ֔ןha.ko.HenH3548,and Joabוּלְיֹאָ֖בu.le.yo.'AvH3097the commanderשַׂ֣רsarH8269of the armyהַצָּבָ֑אha.tza.Va'H6635,but he has not invitedקָרָֽא׃ka.Ra'H7121Solomonוְלִשְׁלֹמֹ֥הve.lish.lo.MohH8010your servantעַבְדְּךָ֖'av.de.KhaH5650.

20And as for you, my lordאֲדֹנִ֣י'a.do.NiH113the kingהַמֶּ֔לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428,the eyesעֵינֵ֥י'ei.NeiH5869of allכָל־khol-H3605Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478are upon you, to announceלְהַגִּ֣ידle.ha.GidH5046to them whoמִ֗יMiH4310shall sitיֵשֵׁ֛בye.ShevH3427on the throneכִּסֵּ֥אki.Se'H3678of my lordאֲדֹנִֽי־'a.do.ni-H113the kingהַמֶּ֖לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428afterאַחֲרָֽיו׃'a.cha.RavH310him.

21Otherwise it will comeוְהָיָ֕הve.ha.YahH1961aboutוְהָיִ֗יתִיve.ha.Yi.tiH1961,as soon as my lordאֲדֹנִֽי־'a.do.ni-H113the kingהַמֶּ֖לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428liesH7901downכִּשְׁכַ֥בkish.KhavH7901with his fathersאֲבֹתָ֑יו'a.vo.TavH1,that I and my sonוּבְנִ֥יu.ve.NiH1121Solomonשְׁלֹמֹ֖הshe.lo.MohH8010will be consideredoffendersחַטָּאִֽים׃cha.ta.'ImH2400.”

22And beholdוְהִנֵּ֛הve.hi.NehH2009,while she was stillעוֹדֶ֥נָּהo.De.nahH5750speakingמְדַבֶּ֖רֶתme.da.Be.retH1696with the kingהַמֶּ֑לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428,Nathanוְנָתָ֥ןve.na.TanH5416the prophetהַנָּבִ֖יאha.na.Vi'H5030cameH935inH935.

23They informedוַיַּגִּ֤ידוּvai.ya.Gi.duH5046the kingH4428,sayingלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559, “Nathanנָתָ֣ןna.TanH5416the prophetהַנָּבִ֑יאha.na.Vi'H5030is hereהִנֵּ֖הhi.NehH2009.”And when he cameוַיָּבֹא֙vai.ya.Vo'H935into the king’s presenceלִפְנֵ֣יlif.NeiH6440,he prostratedH2331himselfbefore the kingH4428with his faceאַפָּ֖יו'a.PavH639to the groundאָֽרְצָה׃'A.re.tzahH776.

24Then Nathanנָתָן֒na.TanH5416saidוַיֹּאמֶר֮vai.yo.MerH559, “My lordאֲדֹנִ֣י'a.do.NiH113the kingהַמֶּ֔לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428,have you yourselfאַתָּ֣ה'a.TahH859saidאָמַ֔רְתָּ'a.Mar.taH559, ‘Adonijahאֲדֹנִיָּ֖הוּ'a.do.ni.Ya.huH138shall beH4427kingH4427afterאַחֲרָ֑י'a.cha.RaiH310me, and he shall sitיֵשֵׁ֥בye.ShevH3427on my throneכִּסְאִֽי׃kis.'IH3678’?

25For he has goneH3381downיָרַ֣דya.RadH3381todayהַיּ֗וֹםhai.YomH3117and has sacrificedוַ֠יִּזְבַּחVai.yiz.bachH2076oxenשׁ֥וֹרShorH7794and fattenedH4806steersH4806and sheepוְצֹאן֮ve.tzoNH6629in abundanceלָרֹב֒la.RoH7230,and has invitedוַיִּקְרָא֩vai.yik.Ra'H7121allלְכָל־le.kholH3605the king’sהַמֶּ֜לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428sonsבְּנֵ֨יbe.NeiH1121,the commandersוּלְשָׂרֵ֤יu.le.sa.ReiH8269of the armyהַצָּבָא֙ha.tza.Va'H6635,and Abiatharוּלְאֶבְיָתָ֣רu.le.'ev.ya.TarH54the priestהַכֹּהֵ֔ןha.ko.HenH3548,and beholdוְהִנָּ֛םve.hi.NamH2009,they are eatingאֹכְלִ֥ים'o.khe.LimH398and drinkingוְשֹׁתִ֖יםve.sho.TimH8354in his presenceלְפָנָ֑יוle.fa.NavH6440;and they sayוַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּvai.Yo.me.RuH559, ‘Longliveיְחִ֖יye.ChiH2421Kingהַמֶּ֥לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428Adonijahאֲדֹנִיָּֽהוּ׃'a.do.ni.Ya.huH138!’
