Context of Luke 4:35
33In the synagogue there was a man possessed by the spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried out with a loud voice, 34“Leave us alone! What business do You have with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are--the Holy One of God!” But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be quiet and come out of him!” And when the demon had thrown him down in the midst of the people, it came out of him without doing him any harm. 36And amazement came upon them all, and they began talking with one another, saying, “What is this message? For with authority and power He commands the unclean spirits, and they come out!” 37And the news about Him was spreading into every locality of the surrounding region.

Commentaries on Luke 4:35
- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 35And hurt him not - Though he convulsed him, Mark 2:26, and threw him down in the midst of them, probably with the design to take away his life, yet our Lord permitted it not; and this appears to be the meaning of the place. The spirit was not permitted essentially to injure him at that time.Read the comment

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 31-44Verses 31-44 Christ's preaching much affected the people; and a working power went with it to the consciences of men. These miracles showed Christ to be a controller and conqueror of Satan, a healer of diseases. Where Christ gives a new life, in recovery from sickness, it should be a new life, spent more than ever in his service, to his glory. Our business should be to spread abroad Christ's fame in every place, to beseech him in behalf of those diseased…Read the comment
