Isaiah 59:2-13
2But your 1wrongdoings have caused a separation between you and your God, And your sins have hidden His 2face from you so that He does 3not hear.3For your 4hands are defiled with blood, And your fingers with wrongdoing; Your lips have spoken 5deceit, Your tongue mutters wickedness.46No one sues righteously and 7no one pleads 8honestly. They 9trust in confusion and speak lies; They 10conceive trouble and give birth to disaster.5They hatch vipers’ eggs and 11weave the spider’s web; The one who eats of their eggs dies, And from what is crushed, a snake breaks out.6Their webs will not become clothing, Nor will they 12cover themselves with their works; Their 13works are works of wrongdoing, And an 14act of violence is in their 15hands.716Their feet run to evil, And they hurry to shed innocent blood; 17Their thoughts are thoughts of wrongdoing, Devastation and destruction are in their paths.8They do not know the 18way of peace, And there is 19no justice in their tracks; They have made their paths crooked, 20Whoever walks on 21them does not know peace.
9Therefore 22justice is far from us, And righteousness does not reach us; We 23hope for light, but there is darkness, For brightness, but we walk in gloom.10We 24grope for the wall like people who are blind, We grope like those who have no eyes. We 25stumble at midday as in the twilight; Among those who are healthy we are 26like the dead.11All of us growl like bears, And 27moan sadly like doves; We hope for 28justice, but there is none; For salvation, but it is far from us.12For our 29wrongful acts have multiplied before You, And our 30sins have testified against us; For our wrongful acts are with us, And 31we know our wrongdoings:1332Offending and 33denying the Lord, And turning away from our God, Speaking 34oppression and revolt, Conceiving and 35uttering lying words from the heart.
