Isaiah 55
The Free Offer of Mercy
1“1You there! Everyone who 2thirsts, come to the waters; And you who have 3no 4money come, buy and eat. Come, buy 5wine and milk 6Without money and without cost.2Why do you 7spend money for what is 8not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and 9eat what is good, And 10delight yourself in abundance.311Incline your ear and come to Me. Listen, that 12you may 13live; And I will make 14an everlasting covenant with you, According to the 15faithful mercies 16shown to David.4Behold, I have made 17him a witness to the peoples, A 18leader and commander for the peoples.5Behold, you will call a 19nation you do not know, And a nation which does not know you will 20run to you, Because of the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel; For He has 21glorified you.”
622Seek the Lord while He may be found; 23Call upon Him while He is near.724Let the wicked abandon his way, And the unrighteous person his 25thoughts; And let him 26return to the Lord, And He will have 27compassion on him, And to our God, For He will 28abundantly pardon.8“For My thoughts are not 29your thoughts, Nor are 30your ways My ways,” declares the Lord.9“For 31as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts than your thoughts.10For as the 32rain and the snow come down from heaven, And do not return there without watering the earth And making it produce and sprout, And providing 33seed to the sower and bread to the eater;11So will My 34word be which goes out of My mouth; It will 35not return to Me empty, Without 36accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the purpose for which I sent it.12For you will go out with 37joy And be led in 38peace; The 39mountains and the hills will break into shouts of joy before you, And all the 40trees of the field will clap their hands.13Instead of the 41thorn bush, the 42juniper will come up, And instead of the 43stinging nettle, the myrtle will come up; And 44it will be a 4546memorial to the Lord, An everlasting 47sign which 48will not be eliminated.”
