Isaiah 32
The Glorious Future
1Behold, a 1king will reign righteously, And officials will rule justly.2Each will be like a 2refuge from the wind And a shelter from the storm, Like 34streams of water in a dry country, Like the 5shade of a 6huge rock in an exhausted land.3Then 7the eyes of those who see will not be 8blinded, And the ears of those who hear will listen.4The 9mind of the 10rash will discern the 11truth, And the tongue of the stammerers will hurry to speak clearly.5No longer will the 12fool be called noble, Or the rogue be spoken of as generous.6For a fool speaks nonsense, And his heart 1314inclines toward wickedness: To practice 15ungodliness and to speak error against the Lord, To 1617keep the hungry person unsatisfied And 18to withhold drink from the thirsty.7As for a rogue, his weapons are evil; He 19devises wicked schemes To 20destroy the poor with 21slander, 22Even though the needy one speaks 23what is right.8But 24the noble person devises noble plans; And by noble plans he stands.
9Rise up, you 25women who are at ease, And hear my voice; 26Listen to my word, You complacent daughters.10Within a year and a few days You will be troubled, you complacent daughters; 27For the vintage is ended, And the fruit gathering will not come.11Tremble, you women who are at ease; 28Be troubled, you complacent daughters; 29Strip, undress, and put sackcloth on your waist,1230Beat your breasts for the pleasant fields, for the fruitful vine,1331For the land of my people in which thorns and briars will come up; Indeed, for all the joyful houses and for the 32jubilant city.14For 33the palace has been neglected, the 34populated 35city abandoned. 36Hill and watch-tower have become 37caves forever, A delight for 38wild donkeys, a pasture for flocks,15Until the 39Spirit is poured out upon us from on high, And the wilderness becomes a 40fertile field, And the fertile field is considered as a forest.16Then 41justice will dwell in the wilderness, And righteousness will remain in the fertile field.17And the 42work of righteousness will be peace, And the service of righteousness, 43quietness and 44confidence forever.18Then my people will live in a 45peaceful settlement, In secure dwellings, and in undisturbed 46resting places;19And it will 47hail when the 48forest comes down, And 49the city will be utterly laid low.20How 50blessed will you be, you who sow beside all waters, Who 51let the ox and the donkey out freely.
