Malachi 2

Priests to Be Disciplined

1“And nowH6258 thisH2088 commandmentH4687 is for you, O priestsH3548. 2IfH518 you do 1not listenH8085, and ifH518 you do not takeH7760 it to heartH3820 to giveH5414 honorH3519 to My nameH8034,” saysH559 the LordH3068 of hostsH6635, “then I will sendH7971 the 2curseH3994 upon you and I will curseH779 your blessingsH1293; and indeedH1571, I have 3cursedH779 them already, becauseH3588 you are not takingH7760 it to heartH3820. 3BeholdH2009, I am going to 4rebukeH1605 your 5offspringH2233, and I will 6spreadH2219 7refuseH6569 on your facesH6440, the 8refuseH6569 of your 9feastsH2282; and you will be takenH5375 away 10with it. 4Then you will knowH3045 that I have sentH7971 thisH2088 commandmentH4687 to you, 11that My 12covenantH1285 may 13continueH1961 with LeviH3878,” saysH559 the LordH3068 of hostsH6635. 5“My covenantH1285 with him was one of lifeH2425 and 14peaceH7965, and I gaveH5414 them to him as an object of 15reverenceH4172; so he 1617reveredH3372 Me and stoodH2865 in aweH2865 of My nameH8034. 61819TrueH571 instructionH8451 was in his mouthH6310 and unrighteousnessH5767 was not foundH4672 on his lipsH8193; he walkedH1980 20with Me in peaceH7965 and uprightnessH4334, and he 21turnedH7725 manyH7227 backH7725 from iniquityH5771. 7For the lipsH8193 of a priestH3548 should preserveH8104 22knowledgeH1847, and 23men should 24seekH1245 25instructionH8451 from his mouthH6310; for he is the 26messengerH4397 of the LordH3068 of hostsH6635. 8But as for you, you have turnedH5493 asideH5493 from the wayH1870; you have caused manyH7227 to 27stumbleH3782 28by the instructionH8451; you have 2930corruptedH7843 the covenantH1285 of LeviH3878,” saysH559 the LordH3068 of hostsH6635. 9“So 31I alsoH1571 have madeH5414 you despisedH959 and 32abasedH8217 33before allH3605 the peopleH5971, justH6310H834 as you are not keepingH8104 My waysH1870 but are showingH5375 34partialityH5375H6440 in the 35instructionH8451.

Sin in the Family

10“Do we not allH3605 have 36oneH259 fatherH1? 37Has not oneH259 GodH410 createdH1254 us? WhyH4069 do we dealH898 38treacherouslyH898 eachH376 against his brotherH251 so as to profaneH2490 the 39covenantH1285 of our fathersH1? 11JudahH3063 has dealtH898 40treacherouslyH898, and an abominationH8441 has been committedH6213 in IsraelH3478 and in JerusalemH3389; for JudahH3063 has 41profanedH2490 the sanctuaryH6944 of the LordH3068 42whichH834 He lovesH157 and has marriedH1166 the daughterH1323 of a foreignH5236 godH410. 12As for the manH376 whoH834 doesH6213 this, may the 43LordH3068 cutH3772 offH3772 from the tentsH168 of JacobH3290 everyone who awakesH5782 and answersH6030, or who 44presentsH5066 45an offeringH4503 to the LordH3068 of hostsH6635.

13“ThisH2088 is 46anotherH8145 thingH8145 you doH6213: you coverH3680 the altarH4196 of the LordH3068 with tearsH1832, with weepingH1065 and with groaningH603, becauseH4480 He 47noH369 longerH5750 regardsH6437 the 48offeringH4503 or acceptsH3947 it with favorH7522 from your handH3027. 14Yet you sayH559, ‘For whatH4100 reasonH5921H4100?’ BecauseH5921H3588 the LordH3068 has been a witnessH5749 betweenH996 you and the 49wifeH802 of your youthH5271, against whomH834 you have dealtH898 50treacherouslyH898, though she is your companionH2278 and your wifeH802 by covenantH1285. 1551But not oneH259 has 52doneH6213 so who has a remnantH7605 of the SpiritH7307. And 53whatH4100 did that oneH259 do while he was seekingH1245 a 54godlyH430 55offspringH2233? TakeH8104 heedH8104 then to your spiritH7307, and let noH408 one dealH898 56treacherouslyH898 against the wifeH802 of your youthH5271. 16For 57I hateH8130 5859divorceH7971,” saysH559 the LordH3068, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478, “and 60him who coversH3680 his garmentH3830 with 6162wrongH2555,” saysH559 the LordH3068 of hostsH6635. “So takeH8104 heedH8104 to your spiritH7307, that you do not dealH898 treacherouslyH898.”

17You have 63weariedH3021 the LordH3068 with your wordsH1697. Yet you sayH559, “HowH4100 have we weariedH3021 Him?” In that you sayH559, “64EveryoneH3605 who doesH6213 evilH7451 is goodH2896 in the sightH5869 of the LordH3068, and He 65delightsH2654 in them,” orH176, “66WhereH346 is the GodH430 of 67justiceH4941?”
