2 Chronicles 28:5-18
5Wherefore, 1the LordH3068 his GodH430 deliveredH5414 him into the handH3027 of the kingH4428 of AramH758; and they 2defeatedH5221 him and carriedH7617 away from him a greatH1419 number of captivesH7633 and broughtH935 them to DamascusH1834. And he was alsoH1571 deliveredH5414 into the handH3027 of the kingH4428 of IsraelH3478, who 3inflictedH5221 him with heavyH1419 casualtiesH4347. 6For 4PekahH6492 the sonH1121 of RemaliahH7425 slewH2026 in JudahH3063 120,000H3967H6242H505 in oneH259 dayH3117, allH3605 valiantH2428 menH1121, because they had forsakenH5800 the LordH3068 GodH430 of their fathersH1. 7And ZichriH2147, a mightyH1368 manH1368 of EphraimH669, slewH2026 MaaseiahH4641 the king’sH4428 sonH1121 and AzrikamH5840 the rulerH5057 of the houseH1004 and ElkanahH511 the secondH4932 to the kingH4428.
85The sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478 carriedH7617 away captiveH7617 of 6their brethrenH251 200,000H3967H505 womenH802, sonsH1121 and daughtersH1323; and they 7tookH962 alsoH1571 a greatH7227 dealH7227 of spoilH7998 from them, and broughtH935 the spoilH7998 to SamariaH8111. 9But a prophetH5030 of the LordH3068 was thereH8033, whose nameH8034 was OdedH5752; and 8he wentH3318 out to meetH6440 the armyH6635 which cameH935 to SamariaH8111 and saidH559 to them, “BeholdH2009, because the LordH3068, the GodH430 of your fathersH1, 9was angryH2534 with JudahH3063, He has deliveredH5414 them into your handH3027, and you have slainH2026 them in a rageH2197 10which has evenH5704 reachedH5060 heavenH8064. 10NowH6258 you are proposingH559 to 11subjugateH3533 for yourselves the peopleH1121 of JudahH3063 and JerusalemH3389 for maleH5650 and femaleH8198 slavesH8198H5650. SurelyH7534, do you not have transgressionsH819 of your ownH5973 against the LordH3068 your GodH430? 11NowH6258 therefore, listenH8085 to me and returnH7725 the captivesH7633 12whomH834 you capturedH7617 from your brothersH251, 13for the burningH2740 angerH639 of the LordH3068 is againstH5921 you.” 12Then someH376 of the headsH7218 of the sonsH1121 of EphraimH669--AzariahH5838 the sonH1121 of JohananH3076, BerechiahH1296 the sonH1121 of MeshillemothH4919, JehizkiahH3169 the sonH1121 of ShallumH7967, and AmasaH6021 the sonH1121 of HadlaiH2311--aroseH6965 againstH5921 those who were comingH935 from the battleH6635, 13and saidH559 to them, “You must not bringH935 the captivesH7633 in hereH2008, for you are proposingH559 to bring upon us guiltH819 against the LordH3068 addingH3254 to our sinsH2403 and our guiltH819; for our guiltH819 is greatH7227 so that His burningH2740 angerH639 is againstH5921 IsraelH3478.” 14So the armedH2502 men leftH5800 the captivesH7633 and the spoilH957 beforeH6440 the officersH8269 and allH3605 the assemblyH6951. 15Then 14the menH376 whoH834 were designatedH5344 by nameH8034 aroseH6965, tookH2388 the captivesH7633, and they clothedH3847 allH3605 their nakedH4636 onesH4636 from the spoilH7998; and they gaveH3847 them clothesH3847 and sandalsH5274, fedH398 them and 15gaveH8248 them drinkH8248, anointedH5480 them with oil, ledH5095 allH3605 their feebleH3782 ones on donkeysH2543, and broughtH935 them to JerichoH3405, 16the cityH5892 of palmH8558 treesH8558, to their brothersH251; then they returnedH7725 to SamariaH8111.
1617At that timeH6256 KingH4428 AhazH271 sentH7971 to the 18kingsH4428 of AssyriaH804 for helpH5826. 1719For againH5750 the EdomitesH130 had comeH935 and attackedH5221 JudahH3063 and carriedH7617 away captivesH7628. 1820The PhilistinesH6430 also had invadedH6584 the citiesH5892 of the 21lowlandH8219 and of the NegevH5045 of JudahH3063, and had takenH3920 Beth-shemeshH1053, AijalonH357, GederothH1450, and SocoH7755 with its villagesH1323, TimnahH8553 with its villagesH1323, and GimzoH1579 with its villagesH1323, and they settledH3427 thereH8033.
