2 Chronicles 21:2-20
2He had brothersH251, the sonsH1121 of JehoshaphatH3092: AzariahH5838, JehielH3171, ZechariahH2148, 1AzaryahuH5838, MichaelH4317 and ShephatiahH8203. AllH3605 theseH428 were the sonsH1121 of JehoshaphatH3092 kingH4428 2of IsraelH3478. 3Their fatherH1 gaveH5414 them manyH7227 giftsH4979 of silverH3701, goldH2091 and preciousH4030 thingsH4030, 3with fortifiedH4694 citiesH5892 in JudahH3063, but he gaveH5414 the kingdomH4467 to JehoramH3088 becauseH3588 he was the firstbornH1060.
4Now when JehoramH3088 had 4takenH6965 overH5921 the kingdomH4467 of his fatherH1 and madeH2388 himself 5secureH2388, he 6killedH2026 allH3605 his brothersH251 with the swordH2719, and someH4480 of the rulersH8269 of IsraelH3478 alsoH1571. 57JehoramH3088 was thirty-twoH7970H8147 yearsH8141 oldH1121 when he becameH4427 kingH4427, and he reignedH4427 eightH8083 yearsH8141 in JerusalemH3389. 68He walkedH1980 in the wayH1870 of the kingsH4428 of IsraelH3478, justH3512 as the houseH1004 of AhabH256 didH6213 (9for Ahab’sH256 daughterH1323 was his wifeH802), and he didH6213 evilH7451 in the sightH5869 of the LordH3068. 7Yet the LordH3068 was not willingH14 to destroyH7843 the houseH1004 of DavidH1732 becauseH4616 of the covenantH1285 whichH834 He had madeH3772 with DavidH1732, 10and sinceH3512 He had promisedH559 to giveH5414 a lampH5215 to him and his sonsH1121 foreverH3605H3117.
8In his daysH3117 11EdomH112 revoltedH6586 12againstH4480H8478H3027 the ruleH3027 of JudahH3063 and setH4427 up a kingH4428 overH5921 themselves. 9Then JehoramH3088 crossedH5674 overH5674 with his commandersH8269 and allH3605 his chariotsH7393 with him. And he aroseH6965 by nightH3915 and struckH5221 downH5221 the EdomitesH112 who were surroundingH5437 him and the commandersH8269 of the chariotsH7393. 10So EdomH112 revoltedH6586 13againstH4480H8478H3027 JudahH3063 to thisH2088 dayH3117. ThenH227 LibnahH3841 revoltedH6586 at the sameH1931 timeH6256 14againstH4480H8478 his ruleH3027, becauseH3588 he had forsakenH5800 the LordH3068 GodH430 of his fathersH1. 11MoreoverH1571, 15he madeH6213 highH1116 placesH1116 in the mountainsH2022 of JudahH3063, and caused the inhabitantsH3427 of JerusalemH3389 16to playH2181 the harlotH2181 and ledH5080 JudahH3063 astrayH5080.
12Then a letterH4385 cameH935 to him from ElijahH452 the prophetH5030 sayingH559, “ThusH3541 saysH559 the LordH3068 GodH430 of your fatherH1 DavidH1732, ‘BecauseH8478H834 17you have not walkedH1980 in the waysH1870 of JehoshaphatH3092 your fatherH1 18and the waysH1870 of AsaH609 kingH4428 of JudahH3063, 13but 19have walkedH1980 in the wayH1870 of the kingsH4428 of IsraelH3478, and have caused JudahH3063 and the inhabitantsH3427 of JerusalemH3389 to playH2181 the harlotH2181 20as the houseH1004 of AhabH256 playedH2181 the harlotH2181, and you 21have alsoH1571 killedH2026 your brothersH251, 22your own familyH1004H1, who were betterH2896 thanH4480 you, 14beholdH2009, the LordH3068 is going to strikeH5062 your peopleH5971, your sonsH1121, your wivesH802 and allH3605 your possessionsH7399 with a greatH1419 23calamityH4046; 15and 24you will suffer 25severeH7227 sicknessH2483, a diseaseH4245 of your bowelsH4578, untilH5704 your bowelsH4578 comeH3318 out becauseH4480 of the sicknessH2483, dayH3117 by dayH3117.’”
16Then 26the LordH3068 stirredH5782 up againstH5921 JehoramH3088 the spiritH7307 of the PhilistinesH6430 and 27the ArabsH6163 whoH834 28borderedH5921H3027 the EthiopiansH3569; 17and they cameH5927 against JudahH3063 and invadedH1234 it, and carriedH7617 away allH3605 the possessionsH7399 foundH4672 in the king’sH4428 houseH1004 togetherH1571 with his sonsH1121 and his wivesH802, so that noH3808 sonH1121 was leftH7604 to him exceptH3588H518 2930JehoahazH3059, the youngestH6996 of his sonsH1121.
18So afterH310 allH3605 thisH2088 the LordH3068 smoteH5062 him 31in his bowelsH4578 with an incurableH369H4832 sicknessH2483. 19Now it cameH1961 about in the courseH4480H3117 of timeH3117, at the endH7093 of twoH8147 yearsH3117, that his bowelsH4578 cameH3318 out becauseH5973 of his sicknessH2483 and he diedH4191 in greatH7451 painH8463. And his peopleH5971 madeH6213 noH3808 fireH8316 for him like 32the fireH8316 for his fathersH1. 20He was thirty-twoH7970H8147 years oldH1121 when he becameH4427 kingH4427, and he reignedH4427 in JerusalemH3389 eightH8083 yearsH8141; and he departedH1980 3334with noH3808 one’s regretH2532, and they buriedH6912 him in the cityH5892 of DavidH1732, 35but not in the tombsH6913 of the kingsH4428.
