1 Chronicles 11:1-9
11Then allH3605 IsraelH3478 gatheredH6908 to DavidH1732 at HebronH2275 2and saidH559, “BeholdH2009, we are your boneH6106 and your fleshH1320. 2In timesH1571H8032H8543 pastH8543H8032, evenH1571 when SaulH7586 was kingH4428, you were the one who ledH3318 out and broughtH935 in IsraelH3478; and the LordH3068 your GodH430 saidH559 to you, ‘3You shall shepherdH7462 My peopleH5971 IsraelH3478, and you shall be princeH5057 overH5921 My peopleH5971 IsraelH3478.’” 3So allH3605 the eldersH2205 of IsraelH3478 cameH935 to the kingH4428 at HebronH2275, and DavidH1732 madeH3772 a covenantH1285 with them in HebronH2275 beforeH6440 the LordH3068; and 4they anointedH4886 DavidH1732 kingH4428 overH5921 IsraelH3478, 5according to the wordH1697 of the LordH3068 throughH3027 SamuelH8050.
4Then DavidH1732 and allH3605 IsraelH3478 wentH1980 to JerusalemH3389 (6that is, JebusH2982); and the JebusitesH2983, the inhabitantsH3427 of the landH776, were thereH8033. 5The inhabitantsH3427 of JebusH2982 saidH559 to DavidH1732, “You shall not enterH935 hereH2008.” Nevertheless DavidH1732 capturedH3920 the strongholdH4686 of ZionH6726 (that is, the cityH5892 of DavidH1732). 6Now DavidH1732 had saidH559, “WhoeverH3605 strikesH5221 downH5221 a JebusiteH2983 firstH7223 shall be chiefH7218 and commanderH8269.” 7JoabH3097 the sonH1121 of ZeruiahH6870 wentH5927 up firstH7223, so he becameH1961 chiefH7218. 7Then DavidH1732 dweltH3427 in the strongholdH4679; thereforeH5921H3651 it was calledH7121 the cityH5892 of DavidH1732. 8He 8builtH1129 the cityH5892 allH5439 aroundH5439, from the 9MilloH4407 even to the surroundingH5439 areaH5439; and JoabH3097 10repairedH2421 the restH7605 of the cityH5892. 911DavidH1732 becameH1980 greaterH1980 and greaterH1419, for the LordH3068 of hostsH6635 was with him.
