2He didוַיַּ֥עַשׂvai.Ya.'asH6213evilהָרַ֖עha.Ra'H7451in the sightבְּעֵינֵ֣יbe.'ei.NeiH5869of the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068,and followedוַ֠יֵּלֶךְ אַחַ֨רVai.ye.lekh 'a.CharH1980H310the sinsחַטֹּ֜אתcha.TotH2403of Jeroboamיָרָבְעָ֧םya.ra.ve.'AmH3379the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Nebatנְבָ֛טne.VatH5028,with whichאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834he made Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478sinהֶחֱטִ֥יאhe.che.Ti'H2398;he did not turnסָ֥רsarH5493from them.
3So the angerאַ֥ף'afH639of the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068was kindledוַיִּֽחַר־vai.yi.char-H2734against Israelבְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לbe.Yis.ra.'ElH3478,and He gaveוַֽיִּתְּנֵ֞םvai.yi.te.NemH5414them continuallyכָּל־ הַיָּמִֽים׃kol- hai.ya.MimH3605H3117into the handבְּיַ֣ד׀be.YadH3027ofHazaelחֲזָאֵ֣לcha.za.'ElH2371kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Aramאֲרָ֗ם'a.RamH758,and into the handוּבְיַ֛דu.ve.YadH3027ofBen-hadadH1130the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Hazaelחֲזָאֵ֖לcha.za.'ElH2371.
4ThenJehoahazיְהוֹאָחָ֖זye.ho.'a.ChazH3059entreatedוַיְחַ֥לvay.ChalH2470the favorפְּנֵ֣יpe.NeiH6440of the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068,and the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068listenedוַיִּשְׁמַ֤עvai.yish.Ma'H8085to him; forHe sawרָאָה֙ra.'AhH7200the oppressionלַ֣חַץLa.chatzH3906of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478,howH3588the kingמֶ֥לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Aramאֲרָֽם׃'a.RamH758oppressedלָחַ֥ץla.ChatzH3905them.
5The Lordיְהוָ֤הYah.wehH3068gaveוַיִּתֵּ֨ןvai.yi.TenH5414Israelלְיִשְׂרָאֵל֙le.Yis.ra.'ElH3478adelivererמוֹשִׁ֔יעַmo.Shi.a'H3467, so that theyescapedוַיֵּ֣צְא֔וּvai.Ye.tze.'UH3318from underמִתַּ֖חַתmi.Ta.chatH8478the handיַד־yad-H3027of the Arameansאֲרָ֑ם'a.RamH758;and the sonsבְנֵֽי־ve.nei-H1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֛לYis.ra.'ElH3478livedוַיֵּשְׁב֧וּvai.ye.she.VuH3427in their tentsבְּאָהֳלֵיהֶ֖םbe.'o.ho.lei.HemH168as formerlyכִּתְמ֥וֹל שִׁלְשֽׁוֹם׃kit.Mol shil.ShomH8032H8543.
6Neverthelessאַ֠ךְ'akhH389they did not turnסָ֜רוּSa.ruH5493awayH5493from the sinsמֵחַטֹּ֧אותme.cha.TotH2403of the houseבֵּית־beit-H1004of Jeroboamיָרָבְעָ֛םya.ra.ve.'AmH3379,with whichאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834he made Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478sinהֶחֱטִ֥יאhe.che.ti'H2398,but walkedהָלָ֑ךְha.LakhH1980in them; andthe Asherahהָאֲשֵׁרָ֔הha.'a.she.RahH842alsoוְגַם֙ve.GamH1571remained standingעָמְדָ֖ה'a.me.DahH5975in Samariaבְּשֹׁמְרֽוֹן׃be.sho.me.RonH8111.
7For he leftהִשְׁאִ֨ירhish.'IrH7604to Jehoahazלִיהוֹאָחָ֜זli.ho.'a.ChazH3059of thearmyעָ֗ם'AmH5971not moreH3588H518thanH3588H518fiftyחֲמִשִּׁ֤יםcha.mi.ShimH2572horsemenפָּֽרָשִׁים֙pa.ra.ShimH6571and tenוַעֲשָׂ֣רָהva.'a.Sa.rahH6235chariotsרֶ֔כֶבRe.khevH7393and 10,000וַעֲשֶׂ֥רֶת אֲלָפִ֖יםva.'a.Se.ret 'a.la.FimH6235H505footmenרַגְלִ֑יrag.LiH7273,for the kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Aramאֲרָ֔ם'a.RamH758had destroyedאִבְּדָם֙'i.be.DamH6them andmadeוַיְשִׂמֵ֥םvay.si.MemH7760them like the dustכֶּֽעָפָ֖רke.'a.FarH6083at threshingלָדֻֽשׁ׃la.DushH1758.

9And Jehoahazיְהֽוֹאָחָז֙ye.ho.'a.ChazH3059sleptוַיִּשְׁכַּ֤בvai.yish.KavH7901with his fathersאֲבֹתָ֔יו'a.vo.TavH1,and they buriedוַֽיִּקְבְּרֻ֖הוּvai.yik.be.Ru.huH6912him in Samariaבְּשֹׁמְר֑וֹןbe.sho.me.RonH8111;and JoashH3060his sonבְּנ֖וֹbe.NoH1121becameH4427kingוַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְvai.yim.LokhH4427in his placeתַּחְתָּֽיו׃ פtach.TavH8478.
10In the thirty-seventhשְׁלֹשִׁ֤ים וָשֶׁ֙בַע֙she.lo.Shim va.She.va'H7970H7651yearH8141of JoashH3060kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Judahיְהוּדָ֑הye.hu.DahH3063,Jehoashיְהוֹאָ֨שׁye.ho.'AshH3060the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Jehoahazיְהוֹאָחָ֤זye.ho.'a.ChazH3059becameH4427kingמָ֠לַךְMa.lakhH4427overעַל־'al-H5921Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478in Samariaבְּשֹׁ֣מְר֔וֹןbe.Sho.me.RonH8111, and reignedsixteenשֵׁ֥שׁ עֶשְׂרֵ֖הshesh 'es.RehH8337H6240yearsH8141.

13So JoashH3060sleptוַיִּשְׁכַּ֤בvai.yish.KavH7901with his fathersאֲבֹתָ֔יו'a.vo.TavH1,and Jeroboamוְיָרָבְעָ֖םve.ya.ra.ve.'AmH3379satיָשַׁ֣בya.ShavH3427on his throneכִּסְא֑וֹkis.'OH3678;and JoashH3060was buriedוַיִּקָּבֵ֤רvai.yi.ka.VerH6912in Samariaבְּשֹׁ֣מְר֔וֹןbe.Sho.me.RonH8111with the kingsמַלְכֵ֥יmal.KheiH4428of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ פYis.ra.'ElH3478.
Death of Elisha
14When Elishaוֶֽאֱלִישָׁע֙ve.'e.li.Sha'H477becameH2470sickחָלָ֣הcha.LahH2470with the illnessחָלְי֔וֹchal.YoH2483of whichאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834he was to dieיָמ֖וּתya.MutH4191,JoashH3060the kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478cameH3381downוַיֵּ֨רֶדvai.Ye.redH3381to him and weptוַיֵּ֤בְךְּvai.Ye.vekH1058overעַל־'al-H5921him and saidוַיֹּאמַ֔רvai.yo.MarH559, “My fatherאָבִ֣י׀'a.ViH1,my fatherאָבִ֔י'a.ViH1,the chariotsרֶ֥כֶבRe.khevH7393of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478and its horsemenוּפָרָשָֽׁיו׃u.fa.ra.ShavH6571!”
16Then he saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶר׀vai.Yo.merH559to the kingלְמֶ֣לֶךְle.Me.lekhH4428of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478, “Putהַרְכֵּ֤בhar.KevH7392your handיָֽדְךָ֙ya.de.KhaH3027on the bowהַקֶּ֔שֶׁתha.Ke.shetH7198.”And he putוַיַּרְכֵּ֖בvai.yar.KevH7392his handיָד֑וֹya.DoH3027on it,then Elishaאֱלִישָׁ֛ע'e.li.Sha'H477laidוַיָּ֧שֶׂםvai.Ya.semH7760his handsיָדָ֖יוya.DavH3027on the king’sהַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ha.Me.lekhH4428handsיְדֵ֥יye.DeiH3027.
17He saidוַיֹּ֗אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Openפְּתַ֧חpe.TachH6605the windowהַחַלּ֛וֹןha.cha.LonH2474toward the eastקֵ֖דְמָהKe.de.mahH6924,”and he openedוַיִּפְתָּ֑חvai.yif.TachH6605it.Then Elishaאֱלִישָׁ֤ע'e.li.Sha'H477saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Shootיְרֵה֙ye.RehH3384!”And he shotוַיּ֔וֹרvai.YorH3384.And he saidוַיֹּ֗אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “The Lord’sלַֽיהוָה֙la.Yah.wehH3068arrowחֵץ־chetz-H2671of victoryתְּשׁוּעָ֤הte.shu.'AhH8668,even the arrowוְחֵ֣ץve.ChetzH2671of victoryתְּשׁוּעָ֣הte.shu.'AhH8668over Aramבַֽאֲרָ֔םva.'a.RamH758; for you willdefeatוְהִכִּיתָ֧ve.hi.ki.TaH5221the Arameansאֲרָ֛ם'a.RamH758atAphekבַּאֲפֵ֖קba.'a.FekH663untilעַד־'ad-H5704you havedestroyedכַּלֵּֽה׃ka.LehH3615them.”
18Then he saidוַיֹּ֛אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Takeקַ֥חkachH3947the arrowsהַחִצִּ֖יםha.chi.TzimH2671,”and he tookוַיִּקָּ֑חvai.yi.KachH3947them. And he saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to the kingלְמֶֽלֶךְ־le.Me.lekh-H4428of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478, “Strikeהַךְ־hakh-H5221the groundאַ֔רְצָה'Ar.tzahH776,”and he struckוַיַּ֥ךְvai.YakhH5221itthreeשָֽׁלֹשׁ־sha.losh-H7969timesפְּעָמִ֖יםpe.'a.MimH6471andstoppedוַֽיַּעֲמֹֽד׃Vai.ya.'a.ModH5975.
19Sothe manאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֗יםha.'E.lo.HimH430was angryוַיִּקְצֹ֨ףvai.yik.TzofH7107with him and saidוַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙vai.Yo.merH559, “You should have struckלְהַכּ֨וֹתle.ha.KotH5221fiveחָמֵ֤שׁcha.MeshH2568orאוֹ־'ov-H176sixשֵׁשׁ֙sheshH8337timesפְּעָמִ֔יםpe.'a.MimH6471,thenאָ֛ז'azH227you would have struckהִכִּ֥יתָhi.Ki.taH5221Aramאֲרָ֖ם'a.RamH758untilעַד־'ad-H5704you would havedestroyedכַּלֵּ֑הka.LehH3615it.But nowוְעַתָּ֕הve.'a.TahH6258you shall strikeתַּכֶּ֥הta.KehH5221Aramאֲרָֽם׃ ס'a.RamH758onlythreeשָׁלֹ֥שׁsha.LoshH7969timesפְּעָמִ֖יםpe.'a.MimH6471.”
20Elishaאֱלִישָׁ֖ע'e.li.Sha'H477diedוַיָּ֥מָתvai.Ya.motH4191,and they buriedוַֽיִּקְבְּרֻ֑הוּvai.yik.be.Ru.huH6912him. Nowthe bandsוּגְדוּדֵ֥יu.ge.du.DeiH1416of the Moabitesמוֹאָ֛בmo.'AvH4124would invadeיָבֹ֥אוּya.Vo.'uH935the landבָאָ֖רֶץva.'A.retzH776in the springבָּ֥אba'H935of the yearשָׁנָֽה׃sha.NahH8141.
21As they were buryingקֹבְרִ֣יםkoe.RimH6912a manאִ֗ישׁ'IshH376,beholdוְהִנֵּה֙ve.hi.NehH2009,they sawרָא֣וּra.'UH7200a maraudingהַגְּד֔וּדha.ge.DudH1416bandH1416;and they castוַיַּשְׁלִ֥יכוּvai.yash.Li.khuH7993the manהָאִ֖ישׁha.'IshH376into the graveבְּקֶ֣בֶרbe.Ke.verH6913of Elishaאֱלִישָׁ֑ע'e.li.Sha'H477.And when the manהָאִישׁ֙ha.'IshH376touchedוַיִּגַּ֤עvai.yi.Ga'H5060the bonesבְּעַצְמ֣וֹתbe.'atz.MotH6106of Elishaאֱלִישָׁ֔ע'e.li.Sha'H477herevivedוַיְחִ֖יvay.ChiH2421and stoodוַיָּ֥קָםvai.Ya.komH6965up on his feetרַגְלָֽיו׃ פrag.LavH7272.
23But theLordיְהוָ֨הYah.wehH3068was graciousוַיָּחָן֩vai.ya.ChanH2603to them andhadH7355compassionוַֽיְרַחֲמֵם֙vay.ra.cha.MemH7355on them and turnedוַיִּ֣פֶןvai.Yi.fenH6437to them becauseלְמַ֣עַןle.Ma.'anH4616ofHis covenantבְּרִית֔וֹbe.ri.ToH1285with Abrahamאַבְרָהָ֖ם'av.ra.HamH85,Isaacיִצְחָ֣קyitz.ChakH3327,and Jacobוְיַֽעֲקֹ֑בve.ya.'a.KoH3290,and wouldאָבָה֙'a.VahH14not destroyהַשְׁחִיתָ֔םhash.chi.TamH7843them or castהִשְׁלִיכָ֥םhish.li.KhamH7993them from His presenceפָּנָ֖יוpa.NavH6440untilעַד־'ad-H5704nowעָֽתָּה׃'A.tahH6258.
