2So the womanהָֽאִשָּׁ֔הha.'i.ShahH802aroseוַתָּ֙קָם֙va.Ta.komH6965and didוַתַּ֕עַשׂva.Ta.'asH6213according to the wordכִּדְבַ֖רkid.VarH1697of the manאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֑יםha.'E.lo.HimH430,and she wentוַתֵּ֤לֶךְva.Te.lekhH1980with her householdוּבֵיתָ֔הּu.vei.TahH1004and sojournedוַתָּ֥גָרva.Ta.gorH1481in the landבְּאֶֽרֶץ־be.'e.retz-H776of the Philistinesפְּלִשְׁתִּ֖יםpe.lish.TimH6430sevenשֶׁ֥בַעShe.va'H7651yearsשָׁנִֽים׃sha.NimH8141.

3At the endמִקְצֵה֙mik.TzehH7097of sevenשֶׁ֣בַעShe.va'H7651yearsשָׁנִ֔יםsha.NimH8141,the womanהָאִשָּׁ֖הha.'i.ShahH802returnedוַתָּ֥שָׁבva.Ta.shovH7725from the landמֵאֶ֣רֶץme.'E.retzH776of the Philistinesפְּלִשְׁתִּ֑יםpe.lish.TimH6430;and she wentוַתֵּצֵא֙va.te.Tze'H3318out toappealלִצְעֹ֣קlitz.'OkH6817to the kingהַמֶּ֔לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428for her houseבֵּיתָ֖הּbei.TahH1004and for her fieldשָׂדָֽהּ׃sa.DahH7704.

4Now the kingוְהַמֶּ֗לֶךְve.ha.Me.lekhH4428was talkingמְדַבֵּר֙me.da.BerH1696withGehaziגֵּ֣חֲזִ֔יge.cha.ZiH1522,the servantנַ֥עַרNa.'arH5288of the manאִישׁ־'ish-H376of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֖יםha.'E.lo.HimH430,sayingלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559, “Pleaseנָּ֣אna'H4994relateסַפְּרָה־sa.pe.rah-H5608to me allכָּל־kol-H3605the greatהַגְּדֹל֖וֹתha.ge.do.LotH1419thingsH1419that Elishaאֱלִישָֽׁע׃'e.li.Sha'H477has doneעָשָׂ֥ה'a.SahH6213.”

5As he was relatingמְסַפֵּ֣רme.sa.PerH5608to the kingלַמֶּלֶךְ֮la.me.leKhH4428howאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834he had restoredH2421to lifeהֶחֱיָ֣הhe.che.YahH2421the one who was deadהַמֵּת֒ha.MetH4191,beholdוְהִנֵּ֨הve.hi.NehH2009,the womanהָאִשָּׁ֜הha.'i.ShahH802whoseאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834sonבְּנָהּ֙be.NahH1121he had restoredH2421to lifeהֶחֱיָ֤הhe.che.YahH2421appealedצֹעֶ֣קֶתtzo.'E.ketH6817to the kingהַמֶּ֔לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428for her houseבֵּיתָ֖הּbei.TahH1004and for her fieldשָׂדָ֑הּsa.DahH7704.And Gehaziגֵּֽחֲזִי֙ge.cha.ZiH1522saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “My lordאֲדֹנִ֣י'a.do.NiH113,O kingהַמֶּ֔לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428,thisH2088is the womanהָֽאִשָּׁ֔הha.'i.ShahH802and thisH2088is her sonבְּנָ֖הּbe.NahH1121,whomאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834Elishaאֱלִישָֽׁע׃'e.li.Sha'H477restoredH2421to lifeהֶחֱיָ֥הhe.che.YahH2421.”

6When the kingהַמֶּ֛לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428askedוַיִּשְׁאַ֥לvai.yish.'AlH7592the womanלָאִשָּׁ֖הla.'i.ShahH802,she relatedוַתְּסַפֶּר־va.te.sa.per-H5608itto him. So the kingהַמֶּלֶךְ֩ha.me.leKhH4428appointedוַיִּתֶּן־vai.yi.ten-H5414for her a certainאֶחָ֜ד'e.ChadH259officerסָרִ֨יסsa.RisH5631,sayingלֵאמֹ֗רle.MorH559, “Restoreהָשֵׁ֤יבha.SheivH7725allכָּל־kol-H3605that was hers and allכָּל־kol-H3605the produceתְּבוּאֹ֣תte.vu.'OtH8393of the fieldהַשָּׂדֶ֔הha.sa.DehH7704from the dayמִיּ֛וֹםmi.YomH3117that she leftעָזְבָ֥ה'a.ze.VahH5800the landהָאָ֖רֶץha.'A.retzH776even untilוְעַד־ve.'ad-H5704nowעָֽתָּה׃ פ'A.tahH6258.”

Elisha Predicts Evil from Hazael

7Then Elishaאֱלִישָׁע֙'e.li.Sha'H477cameוַיָּבֹ֤אvai.ya.Vo'H935toDamascusדַּמֶּ֔שֶׂקda.Me.sekH1834. NowBen-hadadH1130kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Aramאֲרָ֖ם'a.RamH758was sickחֹלֶ֑הcho.LehH2470,and it was toldוַיֻּגַּד־vai.yu.gad-H5046him, sayingלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559, “The manאִ֥ישׁ'ishH376of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֖יםha.'E.lo.HimH430has comeבָּ֛אba'H935hereעַד־ הֵֽנָּה׃'ad- He.nahH5704 H2008.”

8The kingהַמֶּ֜לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toHazaelחֲזָהאֵ֗לcha.za.h.'ElH2371, “Takeקַ֤חkachH3947a giftמִנְחָ֔הmin.ChahH4503in your handבְּיָֽדְךָ֙be.ya.de.KhaH3027and goוְלֵ֕ךְve.LekhH1980to meetלִקְרַ֖אתlik.RatH7122the manאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֑יםha.'E.lo.HimH430, andinquireוְדָרַשְׁתָּ֨ve.da.rash.TaH1875of the Lordיְהוָ֤הYah.wehH3068by him, sayingלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559, ‘Will I recoverהַאֶחְיֶ֖הha.'ech.YehH2421from thisזֶֽה׃ZehH2088sicknessמֵחֳלִ֥יme.cho.LiH2483?’”

9So Hazaelחֲזָאֵל֮cha.za.'ElH2371wentוַיֵּ֣לֶךְvai.Ye.lekhH1980to meetלִקְרָאתוֹ֒lik.ra.ToH7122him and tookוַיִּקַּ֨חvai.yi.KachH3947a giftמִנְחָ֤הmin.ChahH4503in his handבְיָדוֹ֙ve.ya.DoH3027,even everyוְכָל־ve.kholH3605kind of goodH2898thingט֣וּבtuvH2898of Damascusדַּמֶּ֔שֶׂקda.Me.sekH1834,fortyאַרְבָּעִ֣ים'ar.ba.'ImH705camels’גָּמָ֑לga.MalH1581loadsמַשָּׂ֖אma.Sa'H4853;and he cameוַיָּבֹא֙vai.ya.Vo'H935and stoodוַיַּעֲמֹ֣דvai.ya.'a.ModH5975beforeלְפָנָ֔יוle.fa.NavH6440him and saidוַיֹּ֗אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Your sonבִּנְךָ֨bin.KhaH1121Ben-hadadH1130kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Aramאֲרָם֙'a.RamH758has sentשְׁלָחַ֤נִיshe.la.Cha.niH7971me to you, sayingלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559, ‘Will I recoverהַאֶחְיֶ֖הha.'ech.YehH2421from thisזֶֽה׃ZehH2088sicknessמֵחֳלִ֥יme.cho.LiH2483?’”

10Then Elishaאֱלִישָׁ֔ע'e.li.Sha'H477saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to him, “Goלֵ֥ךְlekhH1980,sayאֱמָר־'e.mor-H559to him, ‘You will surelyחָיֹ֣הcha.YohH2421recoverתִחְיֶ֑הtich.YehH2421,’ but theLordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068has shownוְהִרְאַ֥נִיve.hir.'A.niH7200me that he will certainlyמ֥וֹתMotH4191dieיָמֽוּת׃ya.MutH4191.”

11Hefixedוַיַּעֲמֵ֥דvai.ya.'a.MedH5975his gazeפָּנָ֖יוpa.NavH6440steadilyוַיָּ֣שֶׂםvai.Ya.semH7760on himuntilעַד־'ad-H5704he was ashamedבֹּ֑שׁBoshH954, andthe manאִ֥ישׁ'ishH376of Godהָאֱלֹהִֽים׃ha.'E.lo.HimH430weptוַיֵּ֖בְךְּvai.Ye.vekH1058.

12Hazaelחֲזָאֵ֔לcha.za.'ElH2371saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Whyמַדּ֖וּעַma.Du.a'H4069does my lordאֲדֹנִ֣י'a.do.NiH113weepבֹכֶ֑הvo.KhehH1058?” Then heansweredוַיֹּ֡אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Becauseכִּֽי־ki-H3588I knowיָדַ֡עְתִּיya.Da'.tiH3045the evilH7463that you will doתַּעֲשֶׂה֩ta.'a.SehH6213to the sonsלִבְנֵ֨יliv.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֜לYis.ra.'ElH3478:their strongholdsמִבְצְרֵיהֶ֞םmiv.tze.rei.HemH4013you will setתְּשַׁלַּ֤חte.sha.LachH7971on fireבָּאֵשׁ֙ba.'EshH784,and their youngוּבַחֻֽרֵיהֶם֙u.va.chu.rei.HemH970menH970you will killתַּהֲרֹ֔גta.ha.RogH2026with the swordבַּחֶ֣רֶבba.Che.revH2719,and their littleH5768onesH5768youwill dashתְּרַטֵּ֔שׁte.ra.TeshH7376in piecesH7376,and their womenH2030with childH2030you will ripתְּבַקֵּֽעַ׃te.va.Ke.a'H1234up.”

13Then Hazaelחֲזָהאֵ֔לcha.za.h.'ElH2371saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “But whatמָ֤הmahH4100is your servantעַבְדְּךָ֙'av.de.KhaH5650, who is buta dogהַכֶּ֔לֶבha.Ke.levH3611,that he should doיַעֲשֶׂ֔הya.'a.SehH6213thisהַזֶּ֑הha.ZehH2088greatהַגָּד֖וֹלha.ga.DolH1419thingהַדָּבָ֥רha.da.VarH1697?”And Elishaאֱלִישָׁ֔ע'e.li.Sha'H477answeredוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “The Lordיְהוָ֛הYah.wehH3068has shownהִרְאַ֧נִיhir.'A.niH7200me that you will be kingמֶ֥לֶךְMe.lekhH4428overעַל־'al-H5921Aramאֲרָֽם׃'a.RamH758.”

14So he departedוַיֵּ֣לֶךְ׀vai.Ye.lekhH1980from Elishaאֱלִישָׁ֗ע'e.li.Sha'H477and returnedוַיָּבֹא֙vai.ya.Vo'H935to his masterאֲדֹנָ֔יו'a.do.NavH113,who saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to him, “Whatמָֽה־mah-H4100did Elishaאֱלִישָׁ֑ע'e.li.Sha'H477sayאָמַ֥ר'a.MarH559to you?” And heansweredוַיֹּ֕אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “He toldאָ֥מַר'A.marH559me thatyou would surelyחָיֹ֥הcha.YohH2421recoverתִחְיֶֽה׃tich.YehH2421.”

15On the followingH4283dayמִֽמָּחֳרָ֗תmi.mo.cho.RatH4283,he tookוַיִּקַּ֤חvai.yi.KachH3947the coverH4345and dippedוַיִּטְבֹּ֣לvai.yit.BolH2881it in waterבַּמַּ֔יִםba.Ma.yimH4325and spreadוַיִּפְרֹ֥שׂvai.yif.RosH6566it on his faceפָּנָ֖יוpa.NavH6440,so that he diedוַיָּמֹ֑תvai.ya.MotH4191.And Hazaelחֲזָהאֵ֖לcha.za.h.'ElH2371becameH4427kingוַיִּמְלֹ֥ךְvai.yim.LokhH4427in his placeתַּחְתָּֽיו׃ פtach.TavH8478.

20In his daysבְּיָמָיו֙be.ya.MavH3117EdomH112revoltedפָּשַׁ֣עpa.Sha'H6586from underמִתַּ֖חַתmi.Ta.chatH8478the handיַד־yad-H3027of Judahיְהוּדָ֑הye.hu.DahH3063,and madeH4427a kingוַיַּמְלִ֥כוּvai.yam.Li.khuH4427overעֲלֵיהֶ֖ם'a.lei.HemH5921themselves.

21Then Joramיוֹרָם֙yo.RamH3141crossedH5674overH5674to Zairצָעִ֔ירָהtza.'I.rahH6811,and allוְכָל־ve.kholH3605his chariotsהָרֶ֖כֶבha.Re.khevH7393with him.
