1And Jacobיַעֲקֹ֜בya.'a.KoH3290lifted upוַיִּשָּׂ֨אvai.yi.Sa'H5375his eyesעֵינָ֗יו'ei.NavH5869,and lookedוַיַּרְא֙vai.yaR'H7200,and, behold, Esauעֵשָׂ֣ו'e.SavH6215cameבָּ֔אBa'H935,and with him fourאַרְבַּ֥ע'ar.Ba'H702hundredמֵא֖וֹתme.'otH3967menאִ֑ישׁ'IshH376.And he dividedוַיַּ֣חַץvai.Ya.chatzH2673the childrenהַיְלָדִ֗יםhay.la.DimH3206unto Leahלֵאָה֙le.'AhH3812,and unto Rachelרָחֵ֔לra.ChelH7354,and unto the twoשְׁתֵּ֥יshe.TeiH8147handmaidsהַשְּׁפָחֽוֹת׃ha.she.fa.ChotH8198.

2And he putוַיָּ֧שֶׂםvai.Ya.semH7760the handmaidsהַשְּׁפָח֛וֹתha.she.fa.ChotH8198and their childrenיַלְדֵיהֶ֖ןyal.dei.HenH3206foremostרִֽאשֹׁנָ֑הri.sho.NahH7223,and Leahלֵאָ֤הle.'AhH3812and her childrenוִֽילָדֶ֙יהָ֙vi.la.Dei.haH3206afterאַחֲרֹנִ֔ים'a.cha.ro.NimH314,and Rachelרָחֵ֥לra.ChelH7354and Josephיוֹסֵ֖ףyo.SefH3130hindermostאַחֲרֹנִֽים׃'a.cha.ro.NimH314.

3And he passed overעָבַ֣ר'a.VarH5674before themלִפְנֵיהֶ֑םlif.nei.HemH6440,and bowed himselfוַיִּשְׁתַּ֤חוּvai.yish.Ta.chuH7812to the groundאַ֙רְצָה֙'ar.tzahH776sevenשֶׁ֣בַעShe.va'H7651timesפְּעָמִ֔יםpe.'a.MimH6471,until he came nearגִּשְׁתּ֖וֹgish.ToH5066to his brotherאָחִֽיו׃'a.ChivH251.

4And Esauעֵשָׂ֤ו'e.SavH6215ranוַיָּ֨רָץvai.Ya.rotzH7323to meet himH7125,and embracedוַֽיְחַבְּקֵ֔הוּvay.cha.be.Ke.huH2263him, and fellוַיִּפֹּ֥לvai.yi.PolH5307on his neckצַוָּארָ֖יוtza.va.RavH6677,and kissed himוַׄיִּׄשָּׁׄקֵ֑ׄהׄוּׄvai.yi.sha.Ke.huH5401:and they weptוַיִּבְכּֽוּ׃vai.yiv.KuH1058.

5And he lifted upוַיִּשָּׂ֣אvai.yi.Sa'H5375his eyesעֵינָ֗יו'ei.NavH5869,and sawוַיַּ֤רְאvai.Yar'H7200the womenהַנָּשִׁים֙ha.na.ShimH802and the childrenהַיְלָדִ֔יםhay.la.DimH3206;and saidוַיֹּ֖אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, Who arethoseאֵ֣לֶּה'E.lehH428with thee? And he saidוַיֹּאמַ֕רvai.yo.MarH559,The childrenהַיְלָדִ֕יםhay.la.DimH3206which Godאֱלֹהִ֖ים'E.lo.HimH430hath graciously givenחָנַ֥ןcha.NanH2603thy servantעַבְדֶּֽךָ׃'av.De.khaH5650.

6Then the handmaidensהַשְּׁפָח֛וֹתha.she.fa.ChotH8198came nearוַתִּגַּ֧שְׁןָva.ti.Gash.naH5066,they and their childrenוְיַלְדֵיהֶ֖ןve.yal.dei.HenH3206,and they bowed themselvesוַתִּֽשְׁתַּחֲוֶֽיןָ׃va.Tish.ta.cha.Vei.naH7812.

7And Leahלֵאָ֛הle.'AhH3812also with her childrenוִילָדֶ֖יהָvi.la.Dei.haH3206came nearH5066,and bowed themselvesוַיִּֽשְׁתַּחֲו֑וּvai.yish.ta.cha.VuH7812:and afterוְאַחַ֗רve.'a.CharH310cameH5066Josephיוֹסֵ֛ףyo.SefH3130nearH5066and Rachelוְרָחֵ֖לve.ra.ChelH7354,and they bowedוַיִּֽשְׁתַּחֲוֽוּ׃vai.Yish.ta.cha.VuH7812themselves.

8And he saidוַיֹּ֕אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, What meanestthou by all this droveהַמַּחֲנֶ֥הha.ma.cha.NehH4264which I metפָּגָ֑שְׁתִּיpa.Ga.she.tiH6298?And he saidוַיֹּ֕אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, These areto findלִמְצֹא־lim.tzo'-H4672graceחֵ֖ןchenH2580in the sightבְּעֵינֵ֥יbe.'ei.NeiH5869of my lordאֲדֹנִֽי׃'a.do.NiH113.

9And Esauעֵשָׂ֖ו'e.SavH6215saidוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559,I haveיֶשׁ־yesh-H3426enoughרָ֑בRavH7227,my brotherאָחִ֕י'a.ChiH251; keep that thou hast unto thyself.

10And Jacobיַעֲקֹ֗בya.'a.KoH3290saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559,Nay, I pray thee, if now I have foundמָצָ֤אתִיma.Tza.tiH4672graceחֵן֙chenH2580in thy sightבְּעֵינֶ֔יךָbe.'ei.Nei.khaH5869,then receiveוְלָקַחְתָּ֥ve.la.kach.TaH3947my presentמִנְחָתִ֖יmin.cha.TiH4503at my handמִיָּדִ֑יmi.ya.DiH3027:for therefore I have seenרָאִ֣יתִיra.'I.tiH7200thy faceפָנֶ֗יךָfa.Nei.khaH6440,as though I had seenכִּרְאֹ֛תkir.'OtH7200the faceפְּנֵ֥יpe.NeiH6440of Godאֱלֹהִ֖ים'E.lo.HimH430,and thou wast pleased with meוַתִּרְצֵֽנִי׃va.tir.Tze.niH7521.

11Takeקַח־kach-H3947,I pray thee, my blessingבִּרְכָתִי֙bir.kha.TiH1293that is broughtהֻבָ֣אתhu.VatH935to thee; because Godאֱלֹהִ֖ים'E.lo.HimH430hath dealt graciously with meחַנַּ֥נִיcha.Na.niH2603,and becauseH3605I haveיֶשׁ־yesh-H3426enoughH3605.And he urgedוַיִּפְצַר־vai.yif.tzar-H6484him, and he tookוַיִּקָּֽח׃vai.yi.KachH3947it.

12And he saidוַיֹּ֖אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559,Let us take our journeyנִסְעָ֣הnis.'AhH5265,and let us goH3212,and I will goH3212before thee.

13And he saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto him, My lordאֲדֹנִ֤י'a.do.NiH113knowethיֹדֵ֙עַ֙yo.De.a'H3045that the childrenהַיְלָדִ֣יםhay.la.DimH3206aretenderרַכִּ֔יםra.KimH7390,and the flocksוְהַצֹּ֥אןve.ha.TzonH6629and herdsוְהַבָּקָ֖רve.ha.ba.KarH1241with youngעָל֣וֹתa.LotH5763arewith me: and if men should overdriveוּדְפָקוּם֙u.de.fa.KumH1849them oneאֶחָ֔ד'e.ChadH259dayי֣וֹםYomH3117,all the flockהַצֹּֽאן׃ha.TzonH6629will dieוָמֵ֖תוּva.Me.tuH4191.

14Let my lordאֲדֹנִ֖י'a.do.NiH113,I pray thee, pass overיַעֲבָר־ya.'a.vor-H5674beforeלִפְנֵ֣יlif.NeiH6440his servantעַבְדּ֑וֹav.DoH5650:and I will lead onאֶתְנָהֲלָ֣ה'et.na.ha.LahH5095softlyלְאִטִּ֗יle.'i.TiH328,according asלְרֶ֨גֶלle.Re.gelH7272the cattleהַמְּלָאכָ֤הha.me.la.KhahH4399that goeth before meלְפָנַי֙le.fa.NaiH6440and the childrenהַיְלָדִ֔יםhay.la.DimH3206be able to endureוּלְרֶ֣גֶלu.le.Re.gelH7272,until I comeאָבֹ֥א'a.Vo'H935unto my lordאֲדֹנִ֖י'a.do.NiH113unto Seirשֵׂעִֽירָה׃se.'I.rahH8165.

15And Esauעֵשָׂ֔ו'e.SavH6215saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559,Let me now leaveאַצִּֽיגָה־'a.tzi.gah-H3322with thee someof the folkהָעָ֖םha.'AmH5971that arewith me. And he saidוַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙vai.Yo.merH559,Whatלָ֣מָּהLa.mahH4100needeth it? let me findאֶמְצָא־'em.tza'-H4672graceחֵ֖ןchenH2580in the sightבְּעֵינֵ֥יbe.'ei.NeiH5869of my lordאֲדֹנִֽי׃'a.do.NiH113.

16So Esauעֵשָׂ֛ו'e.SavH6215returnedוַיָּשָׁב֩vai.ya.ShavH7725that dayבַּיּ֨וֹםbai.YomH3117on his wayלְדַרְכּ֖וֹle.dar.KoH1870unto Seirשֵׂעִֽירָה׃se.'I.rahH8165.

17And Jacobוְיַעֲקֹב֙ve.ya.'a.KoH3290journeyedנָסַ֣עna.Sa'H5265to Succothסֻכֹּ֔תָהsu.Ko.tahH5523,and builtוַיִּ֥בֶןvai.Yi.venH1129him an houseבָּ֑יִתBa.yitH1004,and madeעָשָׂ֣ה'a.SahH6213boothsסֻכֹּ֔תsu.KotH5521for his cattleוּלְמִקְנֵ֙הוּ֙u.le.mik.Ne.huH4735:therefore the nameשֵׁם־shem-H8034of the placeהַמָּק֖וֹםha.ma.KomH4725is calledקָרָ֥אka.Ra'H7121Succothסֻכּֽוֹת׃ סsu.KotH5523.

18And Jacobיַעֲקֹ֨בya.'a.KoH3290cameוַיָּבֹא֩vai.ya.Vo'H935to ShalemH8004,a cityעִ֣יר'irH5892of Shechemשְׁכֶ֗םshe.KhemH7927, which isin the landבְּאֶ֣רֶץbe.'E.retzH776of Canaanכְּנַ֔עַןke.Na.'anH3667,when he cameבְּבֹא֖וֹbe.vo.'OH935from Padan–aramמִפַּדַּ֣ןmi.pa.DanH6307;and pitched his tentוַיִּ֖חַןvai.Yi.chanH2583beforeפְּנֵ֥יpe.NeiH6440the cityהָעִֽיר׃ha.'IrH5892.

19And he boughtוַיִּ֜קֶןvai.Yi.kenH7069a parcelחֶלְקַ֣תchel.KatH2513of a fieldהַשָּׂדֶ֗הha.sa.DehH7704,where he had spreadנָֽטָה־na.tah-H5186his tentאָהֳל֔וֹ'o.ho.LoH168,at the handמִיַּ֥דmi.YadH3027of the childrenבְּנֵֽי־be.nei-H1121of Hamorחֲמ֖וֹרcha.MorH2544,Shechem’sשְׁכֶ֑םshe.KhemH7927fatherאֲבִ֣י'a.ViH1,for an hundredבְּמֵאָ֖הbe.me.'AhH3967pieces of moneyקְשִׂיטָֽה׃ke.si.TahH7192.

20And he erectedוַיַּצֶּב־vai.ya.tzev-H5324there an altarמִזְבֵּ֑חַmiz.Be.achH4196,and called itוַיִּ֨קְרָא־vai.Yik.ra'-H7121El–elohe–IsraelH415.
