2And on the seventhהַשְּׁבִיעִ֔יha.she.vi.'IH7637dayבַּיּ֣וֹםbai.YomH3117Godאֱלֹהִים֙'E.lo.HimH430endedוַיְכַ֤לvay.KhalH3615his workמְלַאכְתּ֖וֹme.lakh.ToH4399which he had madeעָשָׂ֑ה'a.SahH6213;and he restedוַיִּשְׁבֹּת֙vai.yish.BotH7673on the seventhהַשְּׁבִיעִ֔יha.she.vi.'IH7637dayבַּיּ֣וֹםbai.YomH3117from all his workמְלַאכְתּ֖וֹme.lakh.ToH4399which he had madeעָשָֽׂה׃'a.SahH6213.

3And Godאֱלֹהִים֙'E.lo.HimH430blessedוַיְבָ֤רֶךְvay.Va.rekhH1288the seventhהַשְּׁבִיעִ֔יha.she.vi.'IH7637dayי֣וֹםYomH3117,and sanctifiedוַיְקַדֵּ֖שׁvay.ka.DeshH6942it: becauseכִּ֣יkiH3588that in it he had restedשָׁבַת֙sha.VatH7673from all his workמְלַאכְתּ֔וֹme.lakh.ToH4399which Godאֱלֹהִ֖ים'E.lo.HimH430createdבָּרָ֥אba.Ra'H1254and madeלַעֲשֽׂוֹת׃ פla.'a.SotH6213.

4Theseאֵ֣לֶּה'E.lehH428arethe generationsתוֹלְד֧וֹתtol.DotH8435of the heavensהַשָּׁמַ֛יִםha.sha.Ma.yimH8064and of the earthוְהָאָ֖רֶץve.ha.'A.retzH776when they were createdבְּהִבָּֽרְאָ֑םbe.hi.ba.re.'AmH1254,in the dayבְּי֗וֹםbe.YomH3117that the Lordיְהוָ֥הYah.wehH3068Godאֱלֹהִ֖ים'E.lo.HimH430madeעֲשׂ֛וֹתa.SotH6213the earthאֶ֥רֶץ'E.retzH776and the heavensוְשָׁמָֽיִם׃ve.sha.Ma.yimH8064,

5And every plantשִׂ֣יחַSi.achH7880of the fieldהַשָּׂדֶ֗הha.sa.DehH7704beforeטֶ֚רֶםTe.remH2962it was in the earthבָאָ֔רֶץva.'A.retzH776,and every herbעֵ֥שֶׂב'E.sevH6212of the fieldהַשָּׂדֶ֖הha.sa.DehH7704beforeטֶ֣רֶםTe.remH2962it grewיִצְמָ֑חyitz.MachH6779:forכִּי֩kiH3588the Lordיְהוָ֤הYah.wehH3068Godאֱלֹהִים֙'E.lo.HimH430had notלֹ֨אlo'H3808caused it to rainהִמְטִ֜ירhim.TirH4305upon the earthהָאָ֔רֶץha.'A.retzH776, and there wasnotאַ֔יִן'A.yinH369a manוְאָדָ֣םve.'a.DamH120to tillלַֽעֲבֹ֖דla.'a.VodH5647the groundהָֽאֲדָמָֽה׃Ha.'a.da.MahH127.

6But there went upיַֽעֲלֶ֣הya.'a.LehH5927a mistוְאֵ֖דve.'EdH108fromמִן־min-H4480the earthהָאָ֑רֶץha.'A.retzH776,and wateredוְהִשְׁקָ֖הve.hish.KahH8248the whole faceפְּנֵֽי־pe.nei-H6440of the groundהָֽאֲדָמָֽה׃Ha.'a.da.MahH127.

7And the Lordיְהוָ֨הYah.wehH3068Godאֱלֹהִ֜ים'E.lo.HimH430formedוַיִּיצֶר֩vai.yi.TzerH3335manהָֽאָדָ֗םha.'a.DamH120ofthe dustעָפָר֙'a.FarH6083ofמִן־min-H4480the groundהָ֣אֲדָמָ֔הha.'a.da.MahH127,and breathedוַיִּפַּ֥חvai.yi.PachH5301into his nostrilsבְּאַפָּ֖יוbe.'a.PavH639the breathנִשְׁמַ֣תnish.MatH5397of lifeחַיִּ֑יםchai.YimH2416;and manהָֽאָדָ֖םha.'a.DamH120became a livingחַיָּֽה׃chai.YahH2416soulלְנֶ֥פֶשׁle.Ne.feshH5315.

8And the Lordיְהוָ֧הYah.wehH3068Godאֱלֹהִ֛ים'E.lo.HimH430plantedוַיִּטַּ֞עvai.yi.Ta'H5193a gardenגַּן־gan-H1588eastwardמִקֶּ֑דֶםmi.Ke.demH6924in Edenבְעֵ֖דֶןbe.'E.denH5731;and thereשָׁ֔םShamH8033he putוַיָּ֣שֶׂםvai.Ya.semH7760the manהָֽאָדָ֖םha.'a.DamH120whomאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834he had formedיָצָֽר׃ya.TzarH3335.

9And outמִן־min-H4480of the groundהָ֣אֲדָמָ֔הha.'a.da.MahH127madeH6779the Lordיְהוָ֤הYah.wehH3068Godאֱלֹהִים֙'E.lo.HimH430to growH6779every treeעֵ֛ץ'etzH6086that is pleasantנֶחְמָ֥דnech.MadH2530to the sightלְמַרְאֶ֖הle.mar.'EhH4758and goodוְט֣וֹבve.TovH2896for foodלְמַאֲכָ֑לle.ma.'a.KhalH3978;the treeוְעֵ֤ץve.'EtzH6086of lifeהַֽחַיִּים֙ha.chai.YimH2416also in the midstבְּת֣וֹךְbe.TokhH8432of the gardenהַגָּ֔ןha.GanH1588,and the treeוְעֵ֕ץve.'EtzH6086of knowledgeהַדַּ֖עַתha.Da.'atH1847of goodט֥וֹבTovH2896and evilוָרָֽע׃va.Ra'H7451.

10And a riverוְנָהָר֙ve.na.HarH5104went outיֹצֵ֣אyo.Tze'H3318of Edenמֵעֵ֔דֶןme.'E.denH5731to waterלְהַשְׁק֖וֹתle.hash.KotH8248the gardenהַגָּ֑ןha.GanH1588;and from thence it was partedיִפָּרֵ֔דyi.pa.RedH6504,and became into fourלְאַרְבָּעָ֥הle.'ar.ba.'AhH702headsרָאשִֽׁים׃ra.ShimH7218.

11The nameשֵׁ֥םshemH8034of the firstהָֽאֶחָ֖דha.'e.ChadH259isPisonפִּישׁ֑וֹןpi.ShonH6376:thatה֣וּאhu'H1931isit which compassethהַסֹּבֵ֗בha.so.VevH5437the whole landאֶ֣רֶץ'E.retzH776of Havilahהַֽחֲוִילָ֔הha.cha.vi.LahH2341,whereאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834there isgoldהַזָּהָֽב׃ha.za.HavH2091;

12And the goldוּֽזֲהַ֛בu.za.HavH2091of thatהַהִ֖ואha.Hiv'H1931landהָאָ֥רֶץha.'A.retzH776isgoodט֑וֹבTovH2896: there isbdelliumהַבְּדֹ֖לַחha.be.Do.lachH916and the onyxהַשֹּֽׁהַם׃ha.Sho.hamH7718stoneוְאֶ֥בֶןve.'E.venH68.

13And the nameוְשֵֽׁם־ve.shem-H8034of the secondהַשֵּׁנִ֖יha.she.NiH8145riverהַנָּהָ֥רha.na.HarH5104isGihonגִּיח֑וֹןgi.ChonH1521: the same isit that compassethהַסּוֹבֵ֔בha.so.VevH5437the whole landאֶ֥רֶץ'E.retzH776of Ethiopiaכּֽוּשׁ׃KushH3568.

14And the nameוְשֵׁ֨םve.ShemH8034of the thirdהַשְּׁלִישִׁי֙ha.she.li.ShiH7992riverהַנָּהָ֤רha.na.HarH5104isHiddekelחִדֶּ֔קֶלchi.De.kelH2313: that isit which goeth towardהַֽהֹלֵ֖ךְha.ho.LekhH1980the eastקִדְמַ֣תkid.MatH6926of Assyriaאַשּׁ֑וּר'a.ShurH804.And the fourthהָֽרְבִיעִ֖יha.re.vi.'IH7243riverוְהַנָּהָ֥רve.ha.na.HarH5104isEuphratesפְרָֽת׃fe.RatH6578.

15And the Lordיְהוָ֥הYah.wehH3068Godאֱלֹהִ֖ים'E.lo.HimH430tookוַיִּקַּ֛חvai.yi.KachH3947the manהָֽאָדָ֑םha.'a.DamH120,and put himH3240into the gardenבְגַן־ve.gan-H1588of Edenעֵ֔דֶן'E.denH5731to dressלְעָבְדָ֖הּle.'a.ve.DahH5647it and to keepוּלְשָׁמְרָֽהּ׃u.le.sha.me.RahH8104it.

16And the Lordיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068Godאֱלֹהִ֔ים'E.lo.HimH430commandedוַיְצַו֙vay.TzavH6680the manהָֽאָדָ֖םha.'a.DamH120,sayingלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559,Of every treeעֵֽץ־'etz-H6086of the gardenהַגָּ֖ןha.GanH1588thou mayest freelyאָכֹ֥ל'a.KholH398eatתֹּאכֵֽל׃to.KhelH398:

17But of the treeוּמֵעֵ֗ץu.me.'EtzH6086of the knowledgeהַדַּ֙עַת֙ha.Da.'atH1847of goodט֣וֹבTovH2896and evilוָרָ֔עva.Ra'H7451,thou shalt not eatתֹאכַ֖לto.KhalH398of it: for in the dayבְּי֛וֹםbe.YomH3117that thou eatestאֲכָלְךָ֥'a.khal.KhaH398thereof thou shalt surelyמ֥וֹתMotH4191dieתָּמֽוּת׃ta.MutH4191.

18And the Lordיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068Godאֱלֹהִ֔ים'E.lo.HimH430saidוַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙vai.Yo.merH559, It isnot goodט֛וֹבTovH2896that the manהָֽאָדָ֖םha.'a.DamH120should beהֱי֥וֹתhe.YotH1961alone; I will makeאֶֽעֱשֶׂהּ־'e.'e.seh-H6213him an help meetעֵ֖זֶר'E.zerH5828for him.

19And out of the groundהָֽאֲדָמָ֗הha.'a.da.MahH127the Lordיְהוָ֨הYah.wehH3068Godאֱלֹהִ֜ים'E.lo.HimH430formedוַיִּצֶר֩vai.yi.TzerH3335every beastחַיַּ֤תchai.YatH2416of the fieldהַשָּׂדֶה֙ha.sa.DehH7704,and every fowlע֣וֹףofH5775of the airהַשָּׁמַ֔יִםha.sha.Ma.yimH8064;and broughtוַיָּבֵא֙vai.ya.Ve'H935themunto Adamהָ֣אָדָ֔םha.'a.DamH120to seeלִרְא֖וֹתlir.'otH7200what he would callיִּקְרָא־yik.ra'-H7121them: and whatsoever Adamהָֽאָדָ֛םha.'a.DamH120calledיִקְרָא־yik.ra'-H7121every livingחַיָּ֖הchai.YahH2416creatureנֶ֥פֶשׁNe.feshH5315,thatה֥וּאhu'H1931wasthe name thereofשְׁמֽוֹ׃she.MoH8034.

20And AdamH120gaveוַיִּקְרָ֨אvai.yik.Ra'H7121namesשֵׁמ֗וֹתshe.MotH8034to all cattleהַבְּהֵמָה֙ha.be.he.MahH929,and to the fowlוּלְע֣וֹףu.le.'ofH5775of the airהַשָּׁמַ֔יִםha.sha.Ma.yimH8064,and to every beastחַיַּ֣תchai.YatH2416of the fieldהַשָּׂדֶ֑הha.sa.DehH7704;but for AdamH120there was not foundמָצָ֥אma.Tza'H4672an help meetעֵ֖זֶר'E.zerH5828for him.

21And the Lordיְהוָ֨הYah.wehH3068Godאֱלֹהִ֧ים׀'E.lo.HimH430causedH5307a deep sleepתַּרְדֵּמָ֛הtar.de.MahH8639to fallוַיַּפֵּל֩vai.ya.PelH5307upon AdamH121,and he sleptוַיִּישָׁ֑ןvai.yi.ShanH3462:and he tookוַיִּקַּ֗חvai.yi.KachH3947oneאַחַת֙'a.ChatH259of his ribsמִצַּלְעֹתָ֔יוmi.tzal.'o.TavH6763,and closed upוַיִּסְגֹּ֥רvai.yis.GorH5462the fleshבָּשָׂ֖רba.SarH1320instead thereof;

22And the ribהַצֵּלָ֛עha.tze.La'H6763,which the Lordיְהוָ֨הYah.wehH3068Godאֱלֹהִ֧ים׀'E.lo.HimH430had takenלָקַ֥חla.KachH3947from manהָֽאָדָ֖םha.'a.DamH120,madeוַיִּבֶן֩vai.yi.VenH1129he a womanלְאִשָּׁ֑הle.'i.ShahH802,and broughtוַיְבִאֶ֖הָvay.vi.'E.haH935her unto the manהָֽאָדָֽם׃Ha.'a.DamH120.

23And Adamהָֽאָדָם֒ha.'a.DamH120saidוַיֹּאמֶר֮vai.yo.MerH559,Thisזֹ֣אתzotH2063isnowהַפַּ֗עַםha.Pa.'amH6471boneעֶ֚צֶם'E.tzemH6106of my bonesמֵֽעֲצָמַ֔יme.'a.tza.MaiH6106,and fleshוּבָשָׂ֖רu.va.SarH1320of my fleshמִבְּשָׂרִ֑יmi.be.sa.RiH1320:sheלְזֹאת֙le.zoTH2063shall be calledיִקָּרֵ֣אyi.ka.Re'H7121Womanאִשָּׁ֔ה'i.ShahH802,because sheזֹּֽאת׃ZotH2063was takenלֻֽקֳחָה־lu.ko.chah-H3947out of Manמֵאִ֖ישׁme.'IshH376.

24Thereforeכֵּן֙kenH3651shall a manאִ֔ישׁ'IshH376leaveיַֽעֲזָב־ya.'a.zov-H5800his fatherאָבִ֖יו'a.VivH1and his motherאִמּ֑וֹ'i.MoH517,and shall cleaveוְדָבַ֣קve.da.VakH1692unto his wifeבְּאִשְׁתּ֔וֹbe.'ish.ToH802:and they shall be oneאֶחָֽד׃'e.ChadH259fleshלְבָשָׂ֥רle.va.SarH1320.

25And they were bothשְׁנֵיהֶם֙she.nei.HemH8147nakedעֲרוּמִּ֔ים'a.ru.MimH6174,the manהָֽאָדָ֖םha.'a.DamH120and his wifeוְאִשְׁתּ֑וֹve.'ish.ToH802,and were not ashamedיִתְבֹּשָֽׁשׁוּ׃yit.bo.Sha.shuH954.
