1And there was a famineרָעָב֙ra.'AvH7458in the landבָּאָ֔רֶץba.'A.retzH776,besideמִלְּבַד֙mi.le.VadH905the firstהָרִאשׁ֔וֹןha.ri.ShonH7223famineהָרָעָ֣בha.ra.'AvH7458that was in the daysבִּימֵ֣יbi.MeiH3117of Abrahamאַבְרָהָ֑ם'av.ra.HamH85.And Isaacיִצְחָ֛קyitz.ChakH3327wentH3212unto Abimelechאֲבִימֶּ֥לֶךְ'a.vi.Me.lekhH40kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of the Philistinesפְּלִשְׁתִּ֖יםpe.lish.TimH6430unto Gerarגְּרָֽרָה׃ge.Ra.rahH1642.

2And the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068appearedוַיֵּרָ֤אvai.ye.Ra'H7200unto him, and saidוַיֹּ֖אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559,Go not downתֵּרֵ֣דte.RedH3381into Egyptמִצְרָ֑יְמָהmitz.Ra.ye.mahH4714;dwellשְׁכֹ֣ןshe.KhonH7931in the landבָּאָ֔רֶץba.'A.retzH776which I shall tellאֹמַ֥ר'o.MarH559thee of:

3Sojournגּ֚וּרgurH1481in this landבָּאָ֣רֶץba.'A.retzH776,and I will be with thee, and will blessוַאֲבָרְכֶ֑ךָּva.'a.va.re.Khe.kaH1288thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seedוּֽלְזַרְעֲךָ֗u.le.zar.'a.KhaH2233,I will giveאֶתֵּן֙'e.TenH5414all theseהָאֵ֔לha.'ElH411countriesהָֽאֲרָצֹ֣תha.'a.ra.TzotH776,and I will performוַהֲקִֽמֹתִי֙va.ha.ki.mo.TiH6965the oathהַשְּׁבֻעָ֔הha.she.vu.'AhH7621which I swareנִשְׁבַּ֖עְתִּיnish.Ba'.tiH7650unto Abrahamלְאַבְרָהָ֥םle.'av.ra.HamH85thy fatherאָבִֽיךָ׃'a.Vi.khaH1;

4And I will makeH7235thy seedזַרְעֲךָ֙zar.'a.KhaH2233to multiplyוְהִרְבֵּיתִ֤יve.hir.bei.TiH7235as the starsכְּכוֹכְבֵ֣יke.chokh.VeiH3556of heavenהַשָּׁמַ֔יִםha.sha.Ma.yimH8064,and will giveוְנָתַתִּ֣יve.na.ta.TiH5414unto thy seedלְזַרְעֲךָ֔le.zar.'a.KhaH2233all theseהָאֵ֑לha.'ElH411countriesהָאֲרָצֹ֖תha.'a.ra.TzotH776;and in thy seedבְזַרְעֲךָ֔ve.zar.'a.KhaH2233shall all the nationsגּוֹיֵ֥יgo.YeiH1471of the earthהָאָֽרֶץ׃ha.'A.retzH776be blessedוְהִתְבָּרֲכ֣וּve.hit.ba.ra.KhuH1288;

5Becauseעֵ֕קֶב'E.kevH6118that Abrahamאַבְרָהָ֖ם'av.ra.HamH85obeyedשָׁמַ֥עsha.Ma'H8085my voiceבְּקֹלִ֑יbe.ko.LiH6963,and keptוַיִּשְׁמֹר֙vai.yish.MorH8104my chargeמִשְׁמַרְתִּ֔יmish.mar.TiH4931,my commandmentsמִצְוֹתַ֖יmitz.vo.TaiH4687,my statutesחֻקּוֹתַ֥יchu.ko.TaiH2708,and my lawsוְתוֹרֹתָֽי׃ve.to.ro.TaiH8451.

6And Isaacיִצְחָ֖קyitz.ChakH3327dweltוַיֵּ֥שֶׁבvai.Ye.shevH3427in Gerarבִּגְרָֽר׃big.RarH1642:

7And the menאַנְשֵׁ֤י'an.SheiH582of the placeהַמָּקוֹם֙ha.ma.kOmH4725askedוַֽיִּשְׁאֲל֞וּvai.yish.'a.LuH7592himof his wifeלְאִשְׁתּ֔וֹle.'ish.ToH802;and he saidוַיֹּ֖אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, She ismy sisterאֲחֹ֣תִי'a.Cho.tiH269:for he fearedיָרֵא֙ya.Re'H3372to sayלֵאמֹ֣רle.MorH559, She ismy wifeאִשְׁתִּ֔י'ish.TiH802; lest, said he,the menאַנְשֵׁ֤י'an.SheiH582of the placeהַמָּקוֹם֙ha.ma.kOmH4725should killיַֽהַרְגֻ֜נִיya.har.Gu.niH2026me for Rebekahרִבְקָ֔הriv.KahH7259; because she wasfairטוֹבַ֥תto.VatH2896to look uponמַרְאֶ֖הmar.'EhH4758.

8And it came to pass, when he had been there a longאָֽרְכוּ־'a.re.khu-H748timeהַיָּמִ֔יםhai.ya.MimH3117,that Abimelechאֲבִימֶ֙לֶךְ֙'a.vi.Me.lekhH40kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of the Philistinesפְּלִשְׁתִּ֔יםpe.lish.TimH6430looked outוַיַּשְׁקֵ֗ףvai.yash.KefH8259atבְּעַ֖דbe.'AdH1157a windowהַֽחַלּ֑וֹןha.cha.LonH2474,and sawוַיַּ֗רְאvai.Yar'H7200,and, behold, Isaacיִצְחָק֙yitz.ChakH3327wassportingמְצַחֵ֔קme.tza.ChekH6711with Rebekahרִבְקָ֥הriv.KahH7259his wifeאִשְׁתּֽוֹ׃'ish.ToH802.

9And Abimelechאֲבִימֶ֜לֶךְ'a.vi.Me.lekhH40calledוַיִּקְרָ֨אvai.yik.Ra'H7121Isaacלְיִצְחָ֗קle.yitz.ChakH3327,and saidוַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙vai.Yo.merH559,Behold, of a suretyאַ֣ךְ'akhH389she isthy wifeאִשְׁתְּךָ֙'ish.te.KhaH802:and how saidstאָמַ֖רְתָּ'a.Mar.taH559thou, She ismy sisterאֲחֹ֣תִי'a.Cho.tiH269?And Isaacיִצְחָ֔קyitz.ChakH3327saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto him, Because I saidאָמַ֔רְתִּי'a.Mar.tiH559,Lest I dieאָמ֖וּת'a.MutH4191for her.

10And Abimelechאֲבִימֶ֔לֶךְ'a.vi.Me.lekhH40saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, What isthis thou hast doneעָשִׂ֣יתָ'a.Si.taH6213unto us? oneאַחַ֤ד'a.ChadH259of the peopleהָעָם֙ha.'AmH5971might lightlyכִּ֠מְעַטKim.'atH4592have lienשָׁכַ֞בsha.KhavH7901with thy wifeאִשְׁתֶּ֔ךָ'ish.Te.khaH802,and thou shouldest have broughtוְהֵבֵאתָ֥ve.he.ve.TaH935guiltinessאָשָֽׁם׃'a.ShamH817upon us.

11And Abimelechאֲבִימֶ֔לֶךְ'a.vi.Me.lekhH40chargedוַיְצַ֣וvay.TzavH6680all hispeopleהָעָ֖םha.'AmH5971,sayingלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559,He that touchethהַנֹּגֵ֜עַha.no.Ge.a'H5060this manבָּאִ֥ישׁba.'IshH376or his wifeוּבְאִשְׁתּ֖וֹu.ve.'ish.ToH802shall surelyמ֥וֹתMotH4191be put to deathיוּמָֽת׃yu.MatH4191.
