1 Chronicles 22:5-9
5And DavidH1732 saidH559, “My sonH1121 SolomonH8010 is youngH5288 and inexperiencedH7390, and the houseH1004 to be builtH1129 for the LORDH3068 must be exceedinglyH4605 magnificentH1431—famousH8034 and gloriousH8597 throughout allH3605 landsH776. ThereforeH4994 I must make preparationsH3559 for it.” So DavidH1732 made lavishH7230 preparationsH3559 beforeH6440 his deathH4194.
6Then David called forH7121 his sonH1121 SolomonH8010 and instructed himH6680 to buildH1129 a houseH1004 for the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478.
7“My sonH1121H589,” saidH559 DavidH1732 to SolomonH8010, “it wasH1961 inH5973 my heartH3824 to buildH1129 a houseH1004 for the NameH8034 of the LORDH3068 my GodH430, 8but this wordH1697 of the LORDH3068H559 cameH1961 to meH5921: ‘You have shedH8210 muchH7230 bloodH1818 and wagedH6213 greatH1419 warsH4421. You are notH3808 to buildH1129 a houseH1004 for My NameH8034 becauseH3588 you have shedH8210 so muchH7227 bloodH1818 on the groundH776 before MeH6440. 9ButH2009 a sonH1121 will be bornH3205 to you whoH1931 will beH1961 a manH376 of restH4496. I will give him restH5117 from allH3605 his enemiesH341 on every sideH5439; forH3588 his nameH8034 will beH1961 SolomonH8010,1 and I will grantH5414 toH5921 IsraelH3478 peaceH7965 and quietH8253 during his reignH3117.

- 1. 1 Chronicles 22:9 Solomon sounds like and is probably derived from the Hebrew word for peace. ↩
