1Now Abimelechאֲבִימֶ֤לֶךְ'a.vi.Me.lekhH40sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Jerubbaalיְרֻבַּ֙עַל֙ye.ru.Ba.'alH3378wentוַיֵּ֨לֶךְvai.Ye.lekhH1980toאֶל־'el-H413his mother’sאִמּ֑וֹ'i.MoH517brothersאֲחֵ֖י'a.CheiH251at Shechemשְׁכֶ֔מָהshe.Khe.mahH7927and saidוַיְדַבֵּ֣רvay.da.BerH1696toאֲלֵיהֶ֔ם'a.lei.HemH413themוְאֶל־ve.'el-H413and to allכָּל־kol-H3605the clanמִשְׁפַּ֛חַתmish.Pa.chatH4940of his motherבֵּית־ אֲבִ֥י אִמּ֖וֹbeit- 'a.Vi 'i.MoH517H1H1004לֵאמֹֽר׃le.MorH559,
2“Pleaseנָ֞אna'H4994askדַּבְּרוּ־ בְּאָזְנֵ֨יda.be.ru- be.'a.ze.NeiH1696H241allכָל־khol-H3605the leadersבַּעֲלֵ֣יba.'a.LeiH1167of Shechemשְׁכֶם֮ מַה־she.Khem mah-H7927H4100, ‘Is it betterטּ֣וֹבTovH2896for youthat seventyשִׁבְעִ֣יםshiv.'ImH7657menאִ֗ישׁ'IshH376,allכֹּ֚לkolH3605the sonsבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Jerubbaalיְרֻבַּ֔עַלye.ru.Ba.'alH3378,ruleהַמְשֹׁ֨לham.SholH4910over you,orאִם־'im-H518just oneאֶחָ֑ד'e.ChadH259manאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376מְשֹׁ֥לme.SholH4910?’Rememberוּזְכַרְתֶּ֕םu.ze.khar.TemH2142thatכִּֽי־ki-H3588Iאָנִֽי׃'a.NiH589am your own fleshוּבְשַׂרְכֶ֖םu.ve.sar.KhemH1320and bloodעַצְמֵכֶם'atz.me.KhemH6106.”

4So they gaveוַיִּתְּנוּ־vai.yi.te.nu-H5414himseventyשִׁבְעִ֣יםshiv.'ImH7657shekelsof silverכֶּ֔סֶףKe.sefH3701from the templeמִבֵּ֖יתּmi.BeitH1004of Baal-berithH1170, with whichAbimelechאֲבִימֶ֗לֶךְ'a.vi.Me.lekhH40hiredוַיִּשְׂכֹּ֨רvai.yis.KorH7936some worthlessרֵיקִים֙rei.KimH7386and recklessוּפֹ֣חֲזִ֔יםu.Fo.cha.ZimH6348menאֲנָשִׁ֤ים'a.na.ShimH582to followוַיֵּלְכ֖וּvai.ye.le.KhuH1980himאַחֲרָֽיו׃'a.cha.RavH310.
5He wentוַיָּבֹ֤אvai.ya.Vo'H935to his father’sאָבִיו֙'a.VivH1houseבֵית־veit-H1004in Ophrahעָפְרָ֔תָה'a.fe.Ra.tahH6084,and onעַל־'al-H5921oneאֶחָ֑ת'e.ChatH259stoneאֶ֣בֶן'E.venH68murderedוַֽיַּהֲרֹ֞גvai.ya.ha.RogH2026אֶת־'et-H853his seventyשִׁבְּעִ֥ים אִ֖ישׁshiv.'Im 'ishH7657H376brothersאֶחָ֧יו'e.ChavH251,the sonsבְּנֵֽי־be.nei-H1121of Jerubbaalיְרֻבַּ֛עַלye.ru.Ba.'alH3378.But Jothamיוֹתָ֧םyo.TamH3147,the youngestהַקָּטֹ֖ןha.ka.TonH6996sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Jerubbaalיְרֻבַּ֛עַלye.ru.Ba.'alH3378,survivedוַיִּוָּתֵ֞רvai.yi.va.TerH3498,becauseכִּ֥יkiH3588he hid himselfנֶחְבָּֽא׃ סnech.Ba'H2244.
