11And the Israelitesבְנֵֽי־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֛לve.nei- Yis.ra.'ElH1121 H3478אֶת־'et-H853didוַיַּעֲשׂ֧וּvai.ya.'a.SuH6213evilהָרַ֖עha.Ra'H7451in the sightבְּעֵינֵ֣יbe.'ei.NeiH5869of the LORDיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068and servedוַיַּעַבְד֖וּvai.ya.'av.DuH5647אֶת־'et-H853the Baalsהַבְּעָלִֽים׃ha.be.'a.LimH1168.

12Thus they forsookוַיַּעַזְב֞וּvai.ya.'az.VuH5800אֶת־'et-H853the LORDיְהוָ֣ה׀Yah.wehH3068,the Godאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of their fathersאֲבוֹתָ֗ם'a.vo.TamH1,who had brought themהַמּוֹצִ֣יאha.mo.Tzi'H3318אוֹתָם֮'o.TamH853out of the landמֵאֶ֣רֶץme.'E.retzH776of Egyptמִצְרַיִם֒mitz.ra.YimH4714,and they followedוַיֵּלְכ֞וּvai.ye.le.KhuH1980afterאַחֲרֵ֣י׀'a.cha.ReiH310variousאֱלֹהִ֣ים אֲחֵרִ֗ים'E.lo.Him 'a.che.RimH312 H430godsמֵאֱלֹהֵ֤יme.'e.lo.HeiH430of the peoplesהָֽעַמִּים֙ha.'a.MimH5971around themסְבִיב֣וֹתֵיהֶ֔םse.vi.Vo.tei.HemH5439אֲשֶׁר֙'a.SherH834.They bowed downוַיִּֽשְׁתַּחֲו֖וּvai.yish.ta.cha.VuH7812to themand provokedוַיַּכְעִ֖סוּvai.yakh.'I.suH3707אֶת־'et-H853the LORD to angerיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068,

13for they forsookוַיַּעַזְב֖וּvai.ya.'az.VuH5800אֶת־'et-H853Himיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068and servedוַיַּעַבְד֥וּvai.ya.'av.DuH5647Baalלַבַּ֖עַלla.Ba.'alH1168and the Ashtorethsוְלָעַשְׁתָּרֽוֹת׃ve.la.'ash.ta.RotH6252.

14Then the angerאַ֤ף'afH639of the LORDיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068burnedוַיִּֽחַר־vai.yi.char-H2734against Israelבְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לbe.Yis.ra.'ElH3478,and He delivered themוַֽיִּתְּנֵם֙vai.yi.te.NemH5414into the handsבְּיַד־be.yad-H3027of those who plunderedשֹׁסִ֔ים וַיָּשֹׁ֖סּוּsho.Sim vai.ya.Sho.suH8154 H8155themאוֹתָ֑ם'o.TamH853.He sold themוַֽיִּמְכְּרֵ֞םvai.yim.ke.RemH4376into the handsבְּיַ֤דbe.YadH3027of their enemiesאֽוֹיְבֵיהֶם֙'oy.vei.HemH341all aroundמִסָּבִ֔יבmi.sa.VivH5439,whom they wereיָכְל֣וּya.khe.LuH3201noוְלֹֽא־ve.lo'-H3808longerע֔וֹדodH5750able to resistלַעֲמֹ֖ד לִפְנֵ֥יla.'a.Mod lif.NeiH5975 H6440אוֹיְבֵיהֶֽם׃'oy.vei.HemH341.

15Whereverבְּכֹ֣ל׀be.KholH3605אֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834Israelmarched outיָצְא֗וּya.tze.'UH3318,the handיַד־yad-H3027of the LORDיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068wasהָיְתָה־ha.ye.tah-H1961against themto bring calamityלְרָעָ֔הle.ra.'AhH7451,just asכַּֽאֲשֶׁר֙ka.'a.SherH834Heיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068וְכַאֲשֶׁ֛רve.kha.'a.SherH834had swornדִּבֶּ֣ר נִשְׁבַּ֥ע יְהוָ֖הdi.Ber nish.Ba' Yah.wehH1696 H7650 H3068to them.So they were greatly distressedוַיֵּ֥צֶר מְאֹֽד׃vai.Ye.tzer me.'OdH3334 H3966.

16Then the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068raised upוַיָּ֥קֶםvai.Ya.kemH6965judgesשֹֽׁפְטִ֑יםsho.fe.TimH8199,who saved themוַיּ֣וֹשִׁיע֔וּםvai.Yo.o.shi.'UmH3467from the handsמִיַּ֖דmi.YadH3027of those who plundered themשֹׁסֵיהֶֽם׃sho.sei.HemH8154.

17Israel,howeverוְגַ֤םve.GamH1571,did notלֹ֣אlo'H3808listenשָׁמֵ֔עוּsha.Me.'uH8085toאֶל־'el-H413their judgesשֹֽׁפְטֵיהֶם֙sho.fe.tei.HemH8199.Insteadכִּ֣יkiH3588,they prostitutedזָנ֗וּza.NuH2181themselves withאַֽחֲרֵי֙'a.cha.ReiH310otherאֲחֵרִ֔ים'a.che.RimH312godsאֱלֹהִ֣ים'E.lo.HimH430and bowed downוַיִּֽשְׁתַּחֲו֖וּvai.yish.ta.cha.VuH7812to them.They quicklyמַהֵ֗רma.HerH4118turnedסָ֣רוּSa.ruH5493fromמִן־min-H4480the wayהַדֶּ֜רֶךְha.De.rekhH1870אֲשֶׁ֨ר'a.SherH834of their fathersאֲבוֹתָ֛ם'a.vo.TamH1,who had walkedהָלְכ֧וּha.le.KhuH1980in obedienceלִשְׁמֹ֥עַlish.Mo.a'H8085to the LORD’sיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068commandmentsמִצְוֹת־mitz.vot-H4687;they did notלֹא־lo'-H3808do as their fathersעָ֥שׂוּ כֵֽן׃'A.su KhenH6213 H3651had done.

18Wheneverוְכִֽי־ve.khi-H3588the LORDיְהוָ֥ה׀Yah.wehH3068raised upהֵקִ֨יםhe.KimH6965a judgeשֹֽׁפְטִים֒sho.fe.TimH8199for the Israelites, Heיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068wasוְהָיָ֤הve.ha.YahH1961withעִם־'im-H5973that judgeהַשֹּׁפֵ֔טha.sho.FetH8199and saved themוְהֽוֹשִׁיעָם֙ve.ho.shi.'AmH3467from the handsמִיַּ֣דmi.YadH3027of their enemiesאֹֽיְבֵיהֶ֔ם'o.ye.vei.HemH341while the judgeהַשּׁוֹפֵ֑ט כִּֽי־ha.sho.Fet ki-H8199 H3588was still aliveכֹּ֖ל יְמֵ֣יkol ye.MeiH3605 H3117;for the LORDיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068was moved to pityיִנָּחֵ֤םyi.na.ChemH5162by their groaningמִנַּֽאֲקָתָ֔םmi.na.'a.ka.TamH5009under thoseמִפְּנֵ֥יmi.pe.NeiH6440who oppressed themלֹחֲצֵיהֶ֖םlo.cha.tzei.HemH3905and afflicted themוְדֹחֲקֵיהֶֽם׃ve.do.cha.kei.HemH1766.

19But whenוְהָיָ֣ה׀ve.ha.YahH1961the judgeהַשּׁוֹפֵ֗ט יָשֻׁ֙בוּ֙ha.sho.Fet ya.Shu.vuH8199 H7725diedבְּמ֣וֹתbe.MotH4191,the Israelites became even more corruptוְהִשְׁחִ֣יתוּve.hish.Chi.tuH7843than their fathersמֵֽאֲבוֹתָ֔םme.'a.vo.TamH1,goingלָלֶ֗כֶתla.Le.khetH1980afterאַֽחֲרֵי֙'a.cha.ReiH310otherאֲחֵרִ֔ים'a.che.RimH312godsאֱלֹהִ֣ים'E.lo.HimH430to serve themלְעָבְדָ֖םle.'a.ve.DamH5647and bow downוּלְהִשְׁתַּחֲוֹ֣תu.le.hish.ta.cha.VotH7812to them.They would notלֹ֤אlo'H3808give upהִפִּ֙ילוּ֙hi.Pi.luH5307their evil practicesמִמַּ֣עַלְלֵיהֶ֔םmi.Ma.'a.lei.HemH4611and stubbornהַקָּשָֽׁה׃ha.ka.ShahH7186waysוּמִדַּרְכָּ֖םu.mi.dar.KamH1870.

20So the angerאַ֥ף'afH639of the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068burnedוַיִּֽחַר־vai.yi.char-H2734against Israelבְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לbe.Yis.ra.'ElH3478,and He saidוַיֹּ֗אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Becauseיַעַן֩ya.'AnH3282אֲשֶׁ֨ר'a.SherH834thisהַזֶּ֗הha.ZehH2088אֶת־'et-H853nationהַגּ֣וֹיha.GoyH1471has transgressedעָבְר֜וּ'a.ve.RuH5674the covenantבְּרִיתִי֙be.ri.TiH1285אֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834I laid downצִוִּ֣יתִיtzi.Vi.tiH6680אֶת־'et-H853for their fathersאֲבוֹתָ֔ם'a.vo.TamH1and has notוְלֹ֥אve.Lo'H3808heededשָׁמְע֖וּsha.me.'UH8085My voiceלְקוֹלִֽי׃le.ko.LiH6963,

23That is why the LORDיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068אֶת־'et-H853had left thoseהָאֵ֔לֶּהha.'E.lehH428nationsהַגּוֹיִ֣םha.go.YimH1471in placeוַיַּנַּ֤חvai.ya.NachH5117and had notלְבִלְתִּ֥יle.vil.TiH1115driven them outהוֹרִישָׁ֖םho.ri.ShamH3423immediatelyמַהֵ֑רma.HerH4118וְלֹ֥אve.Lo'H3808by delivering themנְתָנָ֖םne.ta.NamH5414into the handבְּיַד־be.yad-H3027of Joshuaיְהוֹשֻֽׁעַ׃ פye.ho.Shu.a'H3091.
