1 And the children of Israel יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל Yis.ra.'El H3478 again did that which was evil הָרַ֖ע ha.Ra' H7451 in the sight of Jehovah ; and Jehovah delivered them into the hand בְּיַד־ be.yad- H3027 of the Philistines פְּלִשְׁתִּ֖ים pe.lish.Tim H6430 forty אַרְבָּעִ֥ים 'ar.ba.'Im H705 years שָׁנָֽה׃ פ sha.Nah H8141 . 2 And there was a certain man אִ֨ישׁ 'ish H376 of Zorah מִצָּרְעָ֛ה mi.tza.re.'Ah H6881 , of the family H4940 of the Danites , whose name וּשְׁמ֣וֹ u.she.Mo H8034 was Manoah מָנ֑וֹחַ ma.No.ach H4495 ; and his wife וְאִשְׁתּ֥וֹ ve.'ish.To H802 was barren עֲקָרָ֖ה 'a.ka.Rah H6135 , and bare not . 3 And the angel מַלְאַךְ־ mal.'akh- H4397 of Jehovah appeared וַיֵּרָ֥א vai.ye.Ra' H7200 unto the woman הָאִשָּׁ֑ה ha.'i.Shah H802 , and said H559 unto her , Behold now , thou art barren עֲקָרָה֙ 'a.ka.Rah H6135 , and bearest not ; but thou shalt conceive וְהָרִ֖ית ve.ha.Rit H2029 , and bear H3205 a son בֵּֽן׃ Ben H1121 . 4 Now H6258 therefore וְעַתָּה֙ ve.'a.Tah H6258 beware , I pray thee, and drink תִּשְׁתִּ֖י tish.Ti H8354 no wine יַ֣יִן Ya.yin H3196 nor strong וְשֵׁכָ֑ר ve.she.Khar H7941 drink H8354 , and eat תֹּאכְלִ֖י tokh.Li H398 not any unclean טָמֵֽא׃ ta.Me' H2931 thing : 5 for , lo , thou shalt conceive H2029 , and bear וְיֹלַ֣דְתְּ ve.yo.Ladt H3205 a son בֵּ֗ן Ben H1121 ; and no razor shall come upon his head רֹאשׁ֔וֹ ro.Sho H7218 ; for the child shall be יִהְיֶ֥ה yih.Yeh H1961 a Nazirite נְזִ֧יר ne.Zir H5139 unto God אֱלֹהִ֛ים 'E.lo.Him H430 from the womb הַבָּ֑טֶן ha.Ba.ten H990 : and he shall begin יָחֵ֛ל ya.Chel H2490 to save H3467 Israel יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל Yis.ra.'El H3478 out of the hand מִיַּ֥ד mi.Yad H3027 of the Philistines פְּלִשְׁתִּֽים׃ pe.lish.Tim H6430 . 6 Then the woman הָאִשָּׁ֗ה ha.'i.Shah H802 came H935 and told H5046 her husband לְאִישָׁהּ֮ le.'i.Shah H376 , saying H559 , A man אִ֤ישׁ 'ish H376 of God הָאֱלֹהִים֙ ha.'E.lo.Him H430 came H935 unto me , and his countenance was like the countenance of the angel מַלְאַ֥ךְ mal.'Akh H4397 of God הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים ha.'E.lo.Him H430 , very מְאֹ֑ד me.'Od H3966 terrible; and I asked שְׁאִלְתִּ֙יהוּ֙ she.'il.Ti.hu H7592 him not whence he was , neither told H5046 he me his name שְׁמ֖וֹ she.Mo H8034 : 7 but he said H559 unto me , Behold , thou shalt conceive H2029 , and bear וְיֹלַ֣דְתְּ ve.yo.Ladt H3205 a son בֵּ֑ן Ben H1121 ; and now H6258 drink תִּשְׁתִּ֣י׀ tish.Ti H8354 no wine יַ֣יִן Ya.yin H3196 nor strong וְשֵׁכָ֗ר ve.she.Khar H7941 drink H8354 , and eat תֹּֽאכְלִי֙ to.khe.Li H398 not any unclean thing ; for the child shall be יִהְיֶ֣ה yih.Yeh H1961 a Nazirite נְזִ֤יר ne.Zir H5139 unto God אֱלֹהִים֙ 'E.lo.Him H430 from the womb הַבֶּ֖טֶן ha.Be.ten H990 to the day י֥וֹם Yom H3117 of his death מוֹתֽוֹ׃ פ mo.To H4194 . 8 Then Manoah מָנ֛וֹחַ ma.No.ach H4495 entreated H6279 Jehovah , and said H559 , Oh , Lord , I pray thee, let the man אִ֣ישׁ 'ish H376 of God הָאֱלֹהִ֞ים ha.'E.lo.Him H430 whom thou didst send H7971 come יָבוֹא־ ya.Vo'- H935 again עוֹד֙ 'Od H5750 unto us , and teach וְיוֹרֵ֕נוּ ve.yo.Re.nu H3384 us what we shall do unto the child that shall be born H3205 . 9 And God הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים ha.'E.lo.Him H430 hearkened to the voice בְּק֣וֹל be.Kol H6963 of Manoah מָנ֑וֹחַ ma.No.ach H4495 ; and the angel מַלְאַךְ֩ mal.'aKh H4397 of God הָאֱלֹהִ֨ים ha.'E.lo.Him H430 came H935 again ע֜וֹד od H5750 unto the woman הָאִשָּׁ֗ה ha.'i.Shah H802 as she sat H3427 in the field בַּשָּׂדֶ֔ה ba.sa.Deh H7704 : but Manoah וּמָנ֥וֹחַ u.ma.No.ach H4495 her husband אִישָׁ֖הּ 'i.Shah H376 was not with her . 10 And the woman הָֽאִשָּׁ֔ה ha.'i.Shah H802 made H4116 haste וַתְּמַהֵר֙ va.te.ma.Her H4116 , and ran H7323 , and told H5046 her husband לְאִישָׁ֑הּ le.'i.Shah H376 , and said H559 unto him , Behold , the man הָאִ֔ישׁ ha.'Ish H376 hath appeared H7200 unto me , that came H935 unto me the other day בַיּ֖וֹם vai.Yom H3117 . 11 And Manoah מָנ֖וֹחַ ma.No.ach H4495 arose וַיָּ֛קָם vai.Ya.kom H6965 , and went H935 after his wife אִשְׁתּ֑וֹ 'ish.To H802 , and came H935 to the man הָאִ֔ישׁ ha.'Ish H376 , and said H559 unto him , Art thou the man הָאִ֛ישׁ ha.'Ish H376 that spakest unto the woman הָאִשָּׁ֖ה ha.'i.Shah H802 ? And he said H559 , I am . 12 And Manoah מָנ֔וֹחַ ma.No.ach H4495 said H559 , Now עַתָּ֖ה 'a.Tah H6258 let thy words דְבָרֶ֑יךָ de.va.Rei.kha H1697 come יָבֹ֣א ya.Vo' H935 to pass : what shall be יִּֽהְיֶ֥ה yih.Yeh H1961 the ordering of the child , and how H4100 shall we do unto him ? 13 And the angel מַלְאַ֥ךְ mal.'Akh H4397 of Jehovah said H559 unto Manoah מָנ֑וֹחַ ma.No.ach H4495 , Of all that I said H559 unto the woman הָאִשָּׁ֖ה ha.'i.Shah H802 let her beware . 14 She may not eat תֹאכַ֗ל to.Khal H398 of anything that cometh of the vine מִגֶּ֨פֶן mi.Ge.fen H1612 , neither let her drink תֵּ֔שְׁתְּ Te.shet H8354 wine H3196 or strong וְשֵׁכָר֙ ve.she.Khar H7941 drink H8354 , nor eat תֹּאכַ֑ל to.Khal H398 any unclean thing ; all that I commanded צִוִּיתִ֖יהָ tzi.vi.Ti.ha H6680 her let her observe H8104 . 15 And Manoah מָנ֖וֹחַ ma.No.ach H4495 said H559 unto the angel מַלְאַ֣ךְ mal.'Akh H4397 of Jehovah , I pray thee, let us detain נַעְצְרָה־ na'.tze.rah- H6113 thee, that we may make H6213 ready a kid for thee. 16 And the angel מַלְאַ֨ךְ mal.'Akh H4397 of Jehovah said H559 unto Manoah מָנ֗וֹחַ ma.No.ach H4495 , Though thou detain תַּעְצְרֵ֙נִי֙ ta'.tze.Re.ni H6113 me , I will not eat אֹכַ֣ל 'o.Khal H398 of thy bread H3899 ; and if thou wilt make תַּעֲשֶׂ֣ה ta.'a.Seh H6213 ready a burnt-offering, thou must offer תַּעֲלֶ֑נָּה ta.'a.Le.nah H5927 it unto Jehovah . For Manoah מָנ֔וֹחַ ma.No.ach H4495 knew H3045 not that he was the angel מַלְאַ֥ךְ mal.'Akh H4397 of Jehovah . 17 And Manoah מָנ֛וֹחַ ma.No.ach H4495 said H559 unto the angel מַלְאַ֥ךְ mal.'Akh H4397 of Jehovah , What is thy name שְׁמֶ֑ךָ she.Me.kha H8034 , that , when thy words דְבָרְךָ֖ div.rei.kha H1697 come יָבֹ֥א ya.Vo' H935 to pass , we may do thee honor וְכִבַּדְנֽוּךָ׃ ve.khi.bad.Nu.kha H3513 ? 18 And the angel מַלְאַ֣ךְ mal.'Akh H4397 of Jehovah said H559 unto him , Wherefore askest thou after my name לִשְׁמִ֑י lish.Mi H8034 , seeing it is wonderful ? 19 So Manoah מָנ֜וֹחַ ma.No.ach H4495 took H3947 the kid with the meal-offering, and offered וַיַּ֥עַל vai.Ya.'al H5927 it upon the rock הַצּ֖וּר ha.Tzur H6697 unto Jehovah : and the angel did wondrously , and Manoah וּמָנ֥וֹחַ u.ma.No.ach H4495 and his wife וְאִשְׁתּ֖וֹ ve.'ish.To H802 looked H7200 on . 20 For it came to pass , when the flame הַלַּ֜הַב ha.La.hav H3851 went H5927 up toward heaven הַשָּׁמַ֔יְמָה ha.sha.May.mah H8064 from off the altar הַמִּזְבֵּ֙חַ֙ ha.miz.Be.ach H4196 , that the angel מַלְאַךְ־ mal.'akh- H4397 of Jehovah ascended in the flame בְּלַ֣הַב be.La.hav H3851 of the altar הַמִּזְבֵּ֑חַ ha.miz.Be.ach H4196 : and Manoah וּמָנ֤וֹחַ u.ma.No.ach H4495 and his wife וְאִשְׁתּוֹ֙ ve.'ish.To H802 looked H7200 on ; and they fell H5307 on their faces H6440 to the ground אָֽרְצָה׃ 'A.re.tzah H776 . 21 But the angel מַלְאַ֣ךְ mal.'Akh H4397 of Jehovah did no more appear לְהֵרָאֹ֖ה le.he.ra.'Oh H7200 to Manoah מָנ֣וֹחַ ma.No.ach H4495 or to his wife אִשְׁתּ֑וֹ 'ish.To H802 .
