7But ifוְאִם־ve.'im-H518the manהָאִ֔ישׁha.'IshH376does notלֹ֤אlo'H3808wantיַחְפֹּץ֙yach.PotzH2654to marryלָקַ֖חַתla.Ka.chatH3947אֶת־'et-H853his brother’s widowיְבִמְתּ֑וֹye.vim.ToH2994,sheיְבִמְתּ֨וֹye.vim.ToH2994is to goוְעָלְתָה֩ve.'al.TahH5927toאֶל־'el-H413the eldersהַזְּקֵנִ֗יםha.ze.ke.NimH2205at the city gateהַשַּׁ֜עְרָהha.Sha'.rahH8179and sayוְאָֽמְרָה֙ve.'a.me.RahH559, “My husband’s brotherיְבָמִ֜יye.va.MiH2993refusesמֵאֵ֨יןme.'EinH3985to preserveלְהָקִ֨יםle.ha.KimH6965his brother’sלְאָחִ֥יוle.'a.ChivH251nameשֵׁם֙shemH8034in Israelבְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לbe.Yis.ra.'ElH3478.He is notלֹ֥אlo'H3808willingאָבָ֖ה'a.VahH14to perform the duty of a brother-in-law for meיַבְּמִֽי׃ya.be.MiH2992.”

8Then the eldersזִקְנֵי־zik.nei-H2205of his cityעִיר֖וֹi.RoH5892shall summonוְקָֽרְאוּ־ve.ka.re.'u-H7121himand speakוְדִבְּר֣וּve.di.be.RuH1696with himאֵלָ֑יו'e.LavH413.If he persistsוְעָמַ֣דve.'a.MadH5975and saysוְאָמַ֔רve.'a.MarH559, “I do notלֹ֥אlo'H3808wantחָפַ֖צְתִּיcha.Fatz.tiH2654to marry herלְקַחְתָּֽהּ׃le.kach.TahH3947,”

9his brother’s widowיְבִמְתּ֣וֹye.vim.ToH2994shall go upוְנִגְּשָׁ֨הve.ni.ge.ShahH5066to himאֵלָיו֮'e.LavH413in the presenceלְעֵינֵ֣יle.'ei.NeiH5869of the eldersהַזְּקֵנִים֒ha.ze.ke.NimH2205,removeוְחָלְצָ֤הve.chal.TzahH2502his sandalנַעֲלוֹ֙na.'a.LoH5275מֵעַ֣לme.'AlH5921רַגְל֔וֹrag.LoH7272,spitוְיָרְקָ֖הve.ya.re.KahH3417in his faceבְּפָנָ֑יו וְעָֽנְתָה֙be.fa.Nav ve.'a.ne.TahH6440 H6030,and declareוְאָ֣מְרָ֔הve.'A.me.RahH559, “This is whatכָּ֚כָהKa.khahH3602is doneיֵעָשֶׂ֣הye.'a.SehH6213to the manלָאִ֔ישׁla.'IshH376whoאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834will notלֹא־lo'-H3808maintainיִבְנֶ֖הyiv.NehH1129אֶת־'et-H853his brother’sאָחִֽיו'a.ChivH251lineבֵּ֥יתbeitH1004.”
