Uzzah Touches the Ark

7And the angerאַ֤ף'afH639of the LORDיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068burnedוַיִּֽחַר־vai.yi.char-H2734against Uzzahבְּעֻזָּ֔הbe.'u.ZahH5798,and Godהָאֱלֹהִ֖יםha.'E.lo.HimH430struck him downוַיַּכֵּ֥הוּvai.ya.Ke.huH5221on the spotשָׁ֛םshamH8033forעַל־'al-H5921his irreverenceהַשַּׁ֑לha.ShalH7944,and he diedוַיָּ֣מָתvai.Ya.motH4191thereשָׁ֔םShamH8033besideעִ֖ם'imH5973the arkאֲר֥וֹן'a.RonH727of Godהָאֱלֹהִֽים׃ha.'E.lo.HimH430.

8Then Davidלְדָוִ֔דle.da.VidH1732became angryוַיִּ֣חַרvai.Yi.charH2734becauseעַל֩'alH5921אֲשֶׁ֨ר'a.SherH834the LORDיְהוָ֛הYah.wehH3068had burst forthפָּרַ֧ץ פֶּ֖רֶץpa.Ratz Pe.retzH6555 H6556against Uzzahבְּעֻזָּ֑הbe.'u.ZahH5798.So he namedוַיִּקְרָ֞אvai.yik.Ra'H7121thatהַהוּא֙ha.Hu'H1931placeלַמָּק֤וֹםla.ma.KomH4725Perez-uzzahH6560,as it is called toעַ֖ד'adH5704thisהַזֶּֽה׃ha.ZehH2088dayהַיּ֥וֹםhai.YomH3117.

10So heדָוִ֗דda.VidH1732was unwillingוְלֹֽא־ אָבָ֣הve.lo'- 'a.VahH3808 H14to moveלְהָסִ֥יר אֵלָ֛יוle.ha.Sir 'e.LavH5493 H413אֶת־'et-H853the arkאֲר֥וֹן'a.RonH727of the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068toעַל־'al-H5921the Cityעִ֣יר'irH5892of Davidדָּוִ֑דda.VidH1732;instead, he tookדָוִ֔דda.VidH1732it asideוַיַּטֵּ֣הוּvai.ya.Te.huH5186to the houseבֵּ֥יתbeitH1004of Obed-edomH5654the Gittiteהַגִּתִּֽי׃ha.gi.TiH1663.

11Thus the arkאֲר֨וֹן'a.RonH727of the LORDיְהוָ֜הYah.wehH3068remainedוַיֵּשֶׁב֩vai.ye.ShevH3427in the houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of Obed-edomH5654the Gittiteהַגִּתִּ֖יha.gi.TiH1663for threeשְׁלֹשָׁ֣הshe.lo.ShahH7969monthsחֳדָשִׁ֑יםcho.da.ShimH2320,and the LORDיְהוָ֛הYah.wehH3068אֶת־'et-H853blessedוַיְבָ֧רֶךְvay.Va.rekhH1288himH5654וְאֶת־ve.'EtH853and allכָּל־kol-H3605his householdבֵּיתֽוֹ׃bei.ToH1004.

The Ark Brought to Jerusalem

(1 Chronicles 15:1–28)

13וַיְהִ֗יvay.HiH1961Whenכִּ֧יkiH3588those carryingנֹשְׂאֵ֥יno.se.'EiH5375the arkאֲרוֹן־'a.ron-H727of the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068had advancedצָעֲד֛וּtza.'a.DuH6805sixשִׁשָּׁ֣הshi.ShahH8337pacesצְעָדִ֑יםtze.'a.DimH6806,he sacrificedוַיִּזְבַּ֥חvai.yiz.BachH2076an oxשׁ֖וֹרShorH7794and a fattened calfוּמְרִֽיא׃u.me.Ri'H4806.

Michal’s Contempt for David

21But Davidדָּוִד֮da.VidH1732saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toאֶל־'el-H413Michalמִיכַל֒mi.KhalH4324, “I was dancing beforeלִפְנֵ֣יlif.NeiH6440the LORDיְהוָ֗הYah.wehH3068,whoאֲשֶׁ֨ר'a.SherH834choseבָּֽחַר־ba.char-H977meover your fatherמֵֽאָבִיךְ֙me.'a.viKhH1and allוּמִכָּל־u.mi.kol-H3605his houseבֵּית֔וֹbei.ToH1004when He appointedלְצַוֹּ֨תle.tza.VotH6680meאֹתִ֥י'o.TiH853rulerנָגִ֛ידna.GidH5057overעַל־'al-H5921the LORD’sיְהוָ֖ה עַל־Yah.weh 'al-H3068 H5921peopleעַ֥ם'amH5971Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478.I will celebrateוְשִׂחַקְתִּ֖יve.si.chak.TiH7832beforeלִפְנֵ֥יlif.NeiH6440the LORDיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068,

23And Michalוּלְמִיכַל֙u.le.mi.KhalH4324the daughterבַּת־bat-H1323of Saulשָׁא֔וּלsha.'UlH7586hadהָ֥יָהHa.yahH1961noלֹֽא־lo'-H3808childrenיָ֑לֶדYa.ledH3206toעַ֖ד'adH5704the dayי֥וֹםYomH3117of her deathמוֹתָֽהּ׃ פmo.TahH4194.
