3Theyplacedוַיַּרְכִּ֜בוּvai.yar.Ki.vuH7392the arkאֲר֤וֹן'a.RonH727of Godהָֽאֱלֹהִים֙ha.'E.lo.HimH430ona newחֲדָשָׁ֔הcha.da.ShahH2319cartעֲגָלָ֣ה'a.ga.LahH5699that they might bringוַיִּשָּׂאֻ֔הוּvai.yi.sa.'U.huH5375it from the houseמִבֵּ֥יתmi.BeitH1004of Abinadabאֲבִינָדָ֖ב'a.vi.na.DavH41whichאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834was on the hillבַּגִּבְעָ֑הba.giv.'AhH1389;and Uzzahוְעֻזָּ֣אve.'u.Za'H5798and Ahioוְאַחְי֗וֹve.'ach.YoH283,the sonsבְּנֵי֙be.NeiH1121of Abinadabאֲבִ֣ינָדָ֔ב'a.Vi.na.DavH41,were leadingנֹהֲגִ֖יםno.ha.GimH5090the newחֲדָשָֽׁה׃cha.da.ShahH2319cartהָעֲגָלָ֥הha.'a.ga.LahH5699.
4Sothey broughtוַיִּשָּׂאֻ֗הוּvai.yi.sa.'U.huH5375it with the arkאֲר֣וֹן'a.RonH727of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֑יםha.'E.lo.HimH430from the houseמִבֵּ֤יתmi.BeitH1004of Abinadabאֲבִֽינָדָב֙'a.vi.na.DavH41,whichאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834was on the hillבַּגִּבְעָ֔הba.giv.'AhH1389;and Ahioוְאַחְי֕וֹve.'ach.YoH283was walkingהֹלֵ֖ךְho.LekhH1980aheadלִפְנֵ֥יlif.NeiH6440of the arkהָאָרֽוֹן׃ha.'a.RonH727.
5Meanwhile, Davidוְדָוִ֣ד׀ve.da.VidH1732and allוְכָל־ve.kholH3605the houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478were celebratingמְשַֽׂחֲקִים֙me.sa.cha.KimH7832beforeלִפְנֵ֣יlif.NeiH6440the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068with allבְּכֹ֖לbe.KholH3605kinds of instruments made offirבְרוֹשִׁ֑יםve.ro.ShimH1265woodעֲצֵ֣י'a.TzeiH6086,and with lyresוּבְכִנֹּר֤וֹתu.ve.khi.no.RotH3658,harpsוּבִנְבָלִים֙u.vin.va.LimH5035,tambourinesוּבְתֻפִּ֔יםu.ve.tu.PimH8596,castanetsוּבִמְנַֽעַנְעִ֖יםu.vim.na.'an.'ImH4517and cymbalsוּֽבְצֶלְצֶלִֽים׃U.ve.tzel.tze.LimH6767.
6But when they cameוַיָּבֹ֖אוּvai.ya.Vo.'uH935to thethreshingH1637floorגֹּ֣רֶןGo.renH1637of Naconנָכ֑וֹןna.KhonH5225,Uzzahעֻזָּ֜א'u.Za'H5798reachedוַיִּשְׁלַ֨חvai.yish.LachH7971out towardאֶל־'el-H413the arkאֲר֤וֹן'a.RonH727of Godהָֽאֱלֹהִים֙ha.'E.lo.HimH430and tookH270holdוַיֹּ֣אחֶזvai.Yo.chezH270of it, for the oxenהַבָּקָֽר׃ha.ba.KarH1241nearly upsetשָׁמְט֖וּsha.me.TuH8058it.
7And the angerאַ֤ף'afH639of the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068burnedוַיִּֽחַר־vai.yi.char-H2734against Uzzahבְּעֻזָּ֔הbe.'u.ZahH5798, andGodהָאֱלֹהִ֖יםha.'E.lo.HimH430struckH5221him downוַיַּכֵּ֥הוּvai.ya.Ke.huH5221thereשָׁ֛םshamH8033forhis irreverenceהַשַּׁ֑לha.ShalH7944;and he diedוַיָּ֣מָתvai.Ya.motH4191thereשָׁ֔םShamH8033by the arkאֲר֥וֹן'a.RonH727of Godהָאֱלֹהִֽים׃ha.'E.lo.HimH430.
8Davidלְדָוִ֔דle.da.VidH1732becameH2734angryH2734becauseעַל֩ אֲשֶׁ֨ר'al 'a.SherH5921H834of the Lord’sיְהוָ֛הYah.wehH3068outburstפָּרַ֧ץ פֶּ֖רֶץpa.Ratz Pe.retzH6555H6556against Uzzahבְּעֻזָּ֑הbe.'u.ZahH5798,and that placeלַמָּק֤וֹםla.ma.KomH4725is calledוַיִּקְרָ֞אvai.yik.Ra'H7121Perez-uzzahH6560to thisהַזֶּֽה׃ha.ZehH2088dayהַיּ֥וֹםhai.YomH3117.
10And Davidדָוִ֗דda.VidH1732was unwillingוְלֹֽא־ אָבָ֣הve.lo'- 'a.VahH3808H14to moveלְהָסִ֥ירle.ha.SirH5493the arkאֲר֥וֹן'a.RonH727of the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068into the cityעִ֣יר'irH5892of Davidדָּוִ֑דda.VidH1732with him; but Davidדָוִ֔דda.VidH1732tookH5186it asideוַיַּטֵּ֣הוּvai.ya.Te.huH5186to the houseבֵּ֥יתbeitH1004ofObed-edomH5654the Gittiteהַגִּתִּֽי׃ha.gi.TiH1663.
11Thus the arkאֲר֨וֹן'a.RonH727of the Lordיְהוָ֜הYah.wehH3068remainedוַיֵּשֶׁב֩vai.ye.ShevH3427in the houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of Obed-edomH5654the Gittiteהַגִּתִּ֖יha.gi.TiH1663threeשְׁלֹשָׁ֣הshe.lo.ShahH7969monthsחֳדָשִׁ֑יםcho.da.ShimH2320,and the Lordיְהוָ֛הYah.wehH3068blessedוַיְבָ֧רֶךְvay.Va.rekhH1288Obed-edomH5654and allכָּל־kol-H3605his householdבֵּיתֽוֹ׃bei.ToH1004.
The Ark Is Brought to Jerusalem
12Now it was toldוַיֻּגַּ֗דvai.yu.GadH5046Kingלַמֶּ֣לֶךְla.Me.lekhH4428Davidדָּוִד֮da.VidH1732,sayingלֵאמֹר֒le.MorH559, “The Lordיְהוָ֗הYah.wehH3068has blessedבֵּרַ֣ךְbe.RakhH1288the houseבֵּ֨יתbeitH1004of Obed-edomH5654and allכָּל־kol-H3605that belongs to him, on accountבַּעֲב֖וּרba.'a.VurH5668of the arkאֲר֣וֹן'a.RonH727of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֑יםha.'E.lo.HimH430.”Davidדָּוִ֗דda.VidH1732wentוַיֵּ֣לֶךְvai.Ye.lekhH1980and broughtוַיַּעַל֩vai.ya.'AlH5927up the arkאֲר֨וֹן'a.RonH727of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֜יםha.'E.lo.HimH430from the houseמִבֵּ֨יתmi.BeitH1004of Obed-edomH5654intothe cityעִ֥יר'irH5892of Davidדָּוִ֖דda.VidH1732with gladnessבְּשִׂמְחָֽה׃be.sim.ChahH8057.
13And so it was, that whenכִּ֧יkiH3588thebearersנֹשְׂאֵ֥יno.se.'EiH5375of the arkאֲרוֹן־'a.ron-H727of the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068had goneצָעֲד֛וּtza.'a.DuH6805sixשִׁשָּׁ֣הshi.ShahH8337pacesצְעָדִ֑יםtze.'a.DimH6806,he sacrificedוַיִּזְבַּ֥חvai.yiz.BachH2076anoxשׁ֖וֹרShorH7794and a fatlingוּמְרִֽיא׃u.me.Ri'H4806.
15So Davidוְדָוִד֙ve.da.VidH1732and allוְכָל־ve.kholH3605the houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478were bringingמַעֲלִ֖יםma.'a.LimH5927up the arkאֲר֣וֹן'a.RonH727of the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068with shoutingבִּתְרוּעָ֖הbit.ru.'AhH8643and the soundוּבְק֥וֹלu.ve.KolH6963of the trumpetשׁוֹפָֽר׃sho.FarH7782.
16Then it happenedוְהָיָה֙ve.ha.YahH1961asthe arkאֲר֣וֹן'a.RonH727of the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068cameבָּ֖אba'H935into the cityעִ֣יר'irH5892of Davidדָּוִ֑דda.VidH1732thatMichalוּמִיכַ֨לu.mi.KhalH4324the daughterבַּת־bat-H1323of Saulשָׁא֜וּלsha.'UlH7586lookedנִשְׁקְפָ֣ה׀nish.ke.FahH8259out of the windowהַחַלּ֗וֹןha.cha.LonH2474and sawוַתֵּ֨רֶאva.Te.re'H7200Kingהַמֶּ֤לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428Davidדָּוִד֙da.VidH1732leapingמְפַזֵּ֤זme.fa.ZezH6339and dancingוּמְכַרְכֵּר֙u.me.khar.KerH3769beforeלִפְנֵ֣יlif.NeiH6440the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068;and she despisedוַתִּ֥בֶזva.Ti.vezH959him in her heartבְּלִבָּֽהּ׃be.li.BahH3820.
17So they broughtוַיָּבִ֜אוּvai.ya.Vi.'uH935in the arkאֲר֣וֹן'a.RonH727of the Lordיְהוָ֗הYah.wehH3068and setוַיַּצִּ֤גוּvai.ya.Tzi.guH3322itin its placeבִּמְקוֹמ֔וֹbim.ko.MoH4725insideבְּת֣וֹךְbe.TokhH8432the tentהָאֹ֔הֶלha.'O.helH168whichאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834Davidדָּוִ֑דda.VidH1732had pitchedנָטָה־na.tah-H5186for it; andDavidדָּוִ֥דda.VidH1732offeredוַיַּ֨עַלvai.Ya.'alH5927burntעֹל֛וֹתo.LotH5930offeringsH5930and peaceוּשְׁלָמִֽים׃u.she.la.MimH8002offeringsH8002beforeלִפְנֵ֥יlif.NeiH6440the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068.
18When Davidדָּוִ֔דda.VidH1732had finishedוַיְכַ֣לvay.KhalH3615offeringמֵהַעֲל֥וֹתme.ha.'a.LotH5927the burntהָעוֹלָ֖הha.'o.LahH5930offeringH5930and the peaceוְהַשְּׁלָמִ֑יםve.ha.she.la.MimH8002offeringH8002,he blessedוַיְבָ֣רֶךְvay.Va.rekhH1288the peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971in the nameבְּשֵׁ֖םbe.ShemH8034of the Lordיְהוָ֥הYah.wehH3068of hostsצְבָאֽוֹת׃tze.va.'otH6635.
19Further, he distributedוַיְחַלֵּ֨קvay.cha.LekH2505to allלְכָל־le.kholH3605the peopleהָעָ֜םha.'AmH5971,to allלְכָל־le.kholH3605the multitudeהֲמ֣וֹןha.MonH1995of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֮Yis.ra.'ElH3478,bothH4480to menH376and womenאִשָּׁה֒'i.ShahH802,a cakeחַלַּ֥תcha.LatH2471of breadלֶ֙חֶם֙le.chemH3899and oneH259of datesוְאֶשְׁפָּ֣רve.'esh.ParH829and oneH259of raisinsוַאֲשִׁישָׁ֖הva.'a.shi.ShahH809to eachH376oneH376.Then allכָּל־kol-H3605the peopleהָעָ֖םha.'AmH5971departedוַיֵּ֥לֶךְvai.Ye.lekhH1980eachH376to his houseלְבֵיתֽוֹ׃le.vei.ToH1004.
20But when Davidדָּוִ֖דda.VidH1732returnedוַיָּ֥שָׁבvai.Ya.shovH7725to blessלְבָרֵ֣ךְle.va.RekhH1288his householdבֵּית֑וֹbei.ToH1004,Michalמִיכַ֤לmi.KhalH4324the daughterבַּת־bat-H1323of Saulשָׁאוּל֙sha.'UlH7586cameוַתֵּצֵ֞אva.te.Tze'H3318out to meetלִקְרַ֣אתlik.RatH7122Davidדָּוִ֔דda.VidH1732and saidוַתֹּ֗אמֶרva.To.merH559, “Howמַה־mah-H4100the kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478distinguishedנִּכְבַּ֨דnikh.BadH3513himself todayהַיּ֜וֹםhai.YomH3117!He uncoveredנִגְלָ֤הnig.LahH1540himself todayהַיּוֹם֙hai.yOmH3117in the eyesלְעֵינֵ֨יle.'ei.NeiH5869of his servants’עֲבָדָ֔יו'a.va.DavH5650maidsאַמְה֣וֹת'am.HotH519as oneאַחַ֥ד'a.ChadH259of thefoolishH7386onesH7386shamelesslyכְּהִגָּל֥וֹתke.hi.ga.LotH1540uncoversנִגְל֖וֹתnig.LotH1540himself!”
21So Davidדָּוִד֮da.VidH1732saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to Michalמִיכַל֒mi.KhalH4324, “It wasbeforeלִפְנֵ֣יlif.NeiH6440the Lordיְהוָ֗הYah.wehH3068,whoאֲשֶׁ֨ר'a.SherH834choseבָּֽחַר־ba.char-H977me aboveH4480your fatherמֵֽאָבִיךְ֙me.'a.viKhH1and aboveH4480allוּמִכָּל־u.mi.kol-H3605his houseבֵּית֔וֹbei.ToH1004,to appointלְצַוֹּ֨תle.tza.VotH6680me rulerנָגִ֛ידna.GidH5057overעַל־'al-H5921the peopleעַ֥ם'amH5971of the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068,overעַל־'al-H5921Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478;therefore I will celebrateוְשִׂחַקְתִּ֖יve.si.chak.TiH7832beforeלִפְנֵ֥יlif.NeiH6440the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.
22I will be moreעוֹד֙'OdH5750lightlyH7043esteemedH7043thanH4480thisH2088and will be humbleשָׁפָ֖לsha.FalH8217in my own eyesבְּעֵינָ֑יbe.'ei.NaiH5869,but with the maidsהָֽאֲמָהוֹת֙ha.'a.ma.hOtH519of whomאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834you have spokenאָמַ֔רְתְּ'a.MartH559,with them I will be distinguishedאִכָּבֵֽדָה׃'i.ka.Ve.dahH3513.”
