12But Shammah took his standוַיִּתְיַצֵּ֤בvai.yit.ya.TzevH3320in the middleבְּתוֹךְ־be.tokh-H8432of the fieldהַֽחֶלְקָה֙ha.chel.KahH2513,defended itוַיַּצִּילֶ֔הָvai.ya.tzi.Le.haH5337,and struck downוַיַּ֖ךְvai.YakhH5221אֶת־'et-H853the Philistinesפְּלִשְׁתִּ֑יםpe.lish.TimH6430.So the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068brought aboutוַיַּ֥עַשׂvai.Ya.'asH6213a greatגְדוֹלָֽה׃ סge.do.LahH1419victoryתְּשׁוּעָ֥הte.shu.'AhH8668.

13Atאֶל־'el-H413harvest timeקָצִיר֙ka.TzirH7105,threeH7970of the thirtyמֵהַשְּׁלֹשִׁ֣יםme.ha.she.lo.ShimH7970chief menרֹ֗אשׁRoshH7218went downוַיֵּרְד֨וּ וַיָּבֹ֤אוּvai.ye.re.Du vai.ya.Vo.'uH3381 H935toאֶל־'el-H413Davidדָּוִ֔דda.VidH1732atאֶל־'el-H413the caveמְעָרַ֖תme.'a.RatH4631of Adullamעֲדֻלָּ֑ם'a.du.LamH5725,while a companyוְחַיַּ֣תve.chai.YatH2416of Philistinesפְּלִשְׁתִּ֔יםpe.lish.TimH6430was encampedחֹנָ֖הcho.NahH2583in the Valleyבְּעֵ֥מֶקbe.'E.mekH6010of Rephaimרְפָאִֽים׃re.fa.'ImH7497.

14At that timeאָ֣ז'azH227Davidוְדָוִ֖דve.da.VidH1732was in the strongholdבַּמְּצוּדָ֑הba.me.tzu.DahH4686,and the garrisonוּמַצַּ֣בu.ma.TzavH4673of the Philistinesפְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים אָ֖זpe.lish.Tim 'azH6430 H227was at BethlehemH1035.

15Davidדָוִ֖דda.VidH1732longedוַיִּתְאַוֶּ֥הvai.yit.'a.VehH183for waterand saidוַיֹּאמַ֑רvai.yo.MarH559, “Oh, that someoneמִ֚יmiH4310would get me a drinkיַשְׁקֵ֣נִיyash.Ke.niH8248of waterמַ֔יִםMa.yimH4325from the wellמִבֹּ֥ארmi.BorH877near the gateבַּשָּֽׁעַר׃ba.Sha.'arH8179of BethlehemH1035אֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834!”
