7Thisהַזֶּ֑הha.ZehH2088commandהַדָּבָ֖רha.da.VarH1697was also evilוַיֵּ֙רַע֙ עַל־vai.Ye.ra' 'al-H7489 H5921in the sightבְּעֵינֵ֣יbe.'ei.NeiH5869of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֔יםha.'E.lo.HimH430;so He struckוַיַּ֖ךְvai.YakhH5221אֶת־'et-H853Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ פYis.ra.'ElH3478.

8Then Davidדָּוִיד֙da.VidH1732saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toאֶל־'el-H413Godהָ֣אֱלֹהִ֔יםha.'E.lo.HimH430, “I have sinnedחָטָ֣אתִֽיcha.Ta.tiH2398greatlyמְאֹ֔דme.'OdH3966becauseאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834I have doneעָשִׂ֖יתִי'a.Si.tiH6213אֶת־'et-H853thisהַזֶּ֑הha.ZehH2088thingהַדָּבָ֣רha.da.VarH1697.Nowוְעַתָּ֗הve.'a.TahH6258I beg Youנָא֙na'H4994אֶת־'et-H853to take awayהַֽעֲבֶר־ha.'a.ver-H5674the iniquityעֲו֣וֹןa.VonH5771of Your servantעַבְדְּךָ֔'av.de.KhaH5650,forכִּ֥יkiH3588I have acted veryמְאֹֽד׃ פme.'OdH3966foolishlyנִסְכַּ֖לְתִּיnis.Kal.tiH5528.”

9And the LORDיְהוָה֙ אֶל־Yah.weh 'el-H3068 H413instructedוַיְדַבֵּ֤רvay.da.BerH1696Gadגָּ֔דGadH1410,David’sדָוִ֖יד לֵאמֹֽר׃da.Vid le.MorH1732 H559seerחֹזֵ֥הcho.ZehH2374,

10“Goלֵךְ֩leKhH1980and tellוְדִבַּרְתָּ֨ve.di.bar.TaH1696אֶל־'el-H413Davidדָּוִ֜ידda.VidH1732that this is whatכֹּ֚הkohH3541לֵאמֹ֗רle.MorH559the LORDיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068saysאָמַ֣ר'a.MarH559: ‘Iאֲנִ֖י'a.NiH589am offeringנֹטֶ֣ה עָלֶ֑יךָno.Teh 'a.Lei.khaH5186 H5921you threeשָׁל֕וֹשׁsha.Lo.oshH7969options.Chooseבְּחַר־be.char-H977oneאַחַ֥ת'a.ChatH259of them,and I will carry it outוְאֶֽעֱשֶׂה־ve.'e.'e.seh-H6213against you.’”

11So Gadגָ֖דgadH1410wentוַיָּ֥בֹאvai.Ya.vo'H935and saidוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toאֶל־'el-H413Davidדָּוִ֑ידda.VidH1732, “This is whatכֹּֽה־koh-H3541the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068saysאָמַ֥ר'a.MarH559: ‘You must chooseקַבֶּל־ka.bel-H6901

12betweenאִם־'im-H518threeשָׁל֨וֹשׁsha.Lo.oshH7969yearsשָׁנִ֜יםsha.NimH8141of famineרָעָ֗בra.'AvH7458וְאִם־ve.'im-H518,threeשְׁלֹשָׁ֨הshe.lo.ShahH7969monthsחֳדָשִׁ֜יםcho.da.ShimH2320of being swept awayנִסְפֶּ֥הnis.PehH5595beforeמִפְּנֵי־mi.pe.nei-H6440your enemiesצָרֶיךָ֮tza.rei.KhaH6862and overtakenלְמַשֶּׂגֶת֒le.ma.se.GetH5381by their swordsוְחֶ֣רֶב אוֹיְבֶ֣ךָ׀ve.Che.rev 'oy.Ve.khaH2719 H341,orוְאִם־ve.'im-H518threeשְׁלֹ֣שֶׁתshe.Lo.shetH7969daysיָ֠מִיםYa.mimH3117of the swordחֶ֣רֶבChe.revH2719of the LORDיְהוָ֤הYah.wehH3068—days of plagueוְדֶ֙בֶר֙ve.De.verH1698upon the landבָּאָ֔רֶץba.'A.retzH776,with the angelוּמַלְאַ֣ךְu.mal.'AkhH4397of the LORDיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068ravagingמַשְׁחִ֖יתmash.ChitH7843everyבְּכָל־be.kholH3605partגְּב֣וּלge.VulH1366of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478.’Now thenוְעַתָּ֣הve.'a.TahH6258,decideרְאֵ֔הre.'EhH7200howמָֽה־mah-H4100I should replyאָשִׁ֥יב דָּבָֽר׃ פ'a.Shiv da.VarH7725 H1697אֶת־'et-H853to Him who sent meשֹׁלְחִ֖יsho.le.ChiH7971.”

13Davidדָּוִ֛יד אֶל־da.Vid 'el-H1732 H413answeredוַיֹּ֧אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559Gadגָּ֖דgadH1410, “I am deeply distressedצַר־ מְאֹ֑דtzar- me.'OdH6862 H3966.Pleaseנָּ֣אna'H4994,let me fallאֶפְּלָה־'e.pe.lah-H5307into the handבְיַד־ve.yad-H3027of the LORDיְהוָ֗הYah.wehH3068,forכִּֽי־ki-H3588His merciesרַחֲמָיו֙ra.cha.MavH7356areveryמְאֹ֔דme.'OdH3966greatרַבִּ֤יםra.BimH7227;but do notאַל־'al-H408let me fallאֶפֹּֽל׃'e.PolH5307into the handsוּבְיַד־u.ve.yad-H3027of menאָדָ֖ם'a.DamH120.”

14So the LORDיְהוָ֛הYah.wehH3068sentוַיִּתֵּ֧ןvai.yi.TenH5414a plagueדֶּ֖בֶרDe.verH1698upon Israelבְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לbe.Yis.ra.'ElH3478,and seventyשִׁבְעִ֥יםshiv.'ImH7657thousandאֶ֖לֶף'E.lefH505menאִֽישׁ׃'IshH376of Israelמִיִּשְׂרָאֵ֔לmi.Yis.ra.'ElH3478fell deadוַיִּפֹּל֙vai.yi.PolH5307.

15Then Godהָאֱלֹהִ֨ים׀ha.'E.lo.HimH430sentוַיִּשְׁלַח֩vai.yish.LachH7971an angelמַלְאָ֥ךְ׀mal.'AkhH4397to destroyלְהַשְׁחִיתָהּ֒le.hash.chi.TahH7843Jerusalemלִֽירוּשָׁלִַם֮li.ru.sha.LimH3389,but as the angel was doing soוּכְהַשְׁחִ֗יתu.khe.hash.ChitH7843,the LORDיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068saw itרָאָ֤הra.'AhH7200and relentedוַיִּנָּ֣חֶםvai.yi.Na.chemH5162fromעַל־'al-H5921the calamityהָֽרָעָ֔הha.ra.'AhH7451,and He saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to the angelלַמַּלְאָ֤ךְla.mal.'AkhH4397who was destroying the peopleהַמַּשְׁחִית֙ha.mash.ChitH7843, “Enoughרַ֔בRavH7227!Withdrawהֶ֣רֶףHe.refH7503your handיָדֶ֑ךָya.De.khaH3027nowעַתָּ֖ה'a.TahH6258!”At that time the angelוּמַלְאַ֤ךְu.mal.'AkhH4397of the LORDיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068was standingעֹמֵ֔ד'o.MedH5975byעִם־'im-H5973the threshing floorגֹּ֖רֶןGo.renH1637of Ornanאָרְנָ֥ן'a.re.NanH771the Jebusiteהַיְבוּסִֽי׃ סhay.vu.SiH2983.

16When Davidדָוִ֜ידda.VidH1732אֶת־'et-H853lifted upוַיִּשָּׂ֨אvai.yi.Sa'H5375his eyesעֵינָ֗יו'ei.NavH5869and sawוַיַּ֞רְאvai.Yar'H7200אֶת־'et-H853the angelמַלְאַ֤ךְmal.'AkhH4397of the LORDיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068standingעֹמֵ֗ד'o.MedH5975betweenבֵּ֤יןbeinH996heavenהַשָּׁמַ֔יִםha.sha.Ma.yimH8064andוּבֵ֣יןu.VeinH996earthהָאָ֙רֶץ֙ha.'A.retzH776,with a drawnשְׁלוּפָה֙she.lu.FahH8025swordוְחַרְבּ֤וֹve.char.BoH2719in his handבְּיָד֔וֹbe.ya.DoH3027stretched outנְטוּיָ֖הne.tu.YahH5186overעַל־'al-H5921Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִָ֑םye.ru.sha.LimH3389,Davidדָּוִ֧ידda.VidH1732and the eldersוְהַזְּקֵנִ֛יםve.ha.ze.ke.NimH2205,clothedמְכֻסִּ֥יםme.khu.SimH3680in sackclothבַּשַּׂקִּ֖יםba.sa.KimH8242,fellוַיִּפֹּ֨לvai.yi.PolH5307facedownעַל־ פְּנֵיהֶֽם׃'al- pe.nei.HemH5921 H6440.

17And Davidדָּוִ֣ידda.VidH1732saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toאֶֽל־'el-H413Godהָאֱלֹהִ֡יםha.'E.lo.HimH430, “Was it notהֲלֹא֩ha.Lo'H3808Iאֲנִ֨י'a.NiH589who gave the orderאָמַ֜רְתִּי'a.Mar.tiH559to countלִמְנ֣וֹתlim.NotH4487the peopleבָּעָ֗םba.'AmH5971?Iוַאֲנִי־va.'a.ni-H589am the oneה֤וּאhu'H1931whoאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834has sinnedחָטָ֙אתִי֙cha.Ta.tiH2398and acted wickedlyH7489.But theseוְאֵ֥לֶּהve.'E.lehH428sheepהַצֹּ֖אןha.TzonH6629,whatמֶ֣הmehH4100have they doneעָשׂ֑וּ'a.SuH6213?O LORDיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068my Godאֱלֹהַ֗י'e.lo.HaiH430,pleaseנָ֤אna'H4994let Your handיָֽדְךָ֙ya.de.KhaH3027fall uponתְּהִ֨יte.HiH1961meand my father’sאָבִ֔י'a.ViH1houseוּבְבֵ֣יתu.ve.VeitH1004,but do notלֹ֥אlo'H3808let this plagueלְמַגֵּפָֽה׃ סle.ma.ge.FahH4046remain upon Your peopleוּֽבְעַמְּךָ֖u.ve.'a.me.KhaH5971.”
