19So Davidדָּוִיד֙da.VidH1732went upוַיַּ֤עַלvai.Ya.'alH5927at the wordבִּדְבַר־bid.var-H1697that Gadגָּ֔דGadH1410אֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834had spokenדִּבֶּ֖רdi.BerH1696in the nameבְּשֵׁ֥םbe.ShemH8034of the LORDיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.

20Now Ornanאָרְנָ֗ן'a.re.NanH771was threshingדָּ֥שׁdashH1758wheatחִטִּֽים׃chi.TimH2406when heוְאָרְנָ֖ןve.'a.re.NanH771turnedוַיָּ֣שָׁבvai.Ya.shovH7725and sawוַיַּרְא֙vai.yaR'H7200אֶת־'et-H853the angelהַמַּלְאָ֔ךְha.mal.'AkhH4397;and his fourוְאַרְבַּ֧עַתve.'ar.Ba.'atH702sonsבָּנָ֛יוba.NavH1121who were with himעִמּ֖וֹi.MoH5973hid themselvesמִֽתְחַבְּאִ֑יםmit.cha.be.'ImH2244.

21Davidדָוִ֖ידda.VidH1732cameוַיָּבֹ֥אvai.ya.Vo'H935toעַד־'ad-H5704Ornanאָרְנָ֑ן'a.re.NanH771,and when Ornanאָרְנָן֙'a.re.NanH771looked outוַיַּבֵּ֤טvai.ya.BetH5027and sawוַיַּ֣רְאvai.Yar'H7200אֶת־'et-H853Davidדָּוִ֔ידda.VidH1732,he leftוַיֵּצֵא֙ מִן־vai.ye.Tze' min-H3318 H4480the threshing floorהַגֹּ֔רֶןha.Go.renH1637and bowedוַיִּשְׁתַּ֧חוּvai.yish.Ta.chuH7812facedownאַפַּ֖יִם אָֽרְצָה׃'a.Pa.yim 'A.re.tzahH639 H776before Davidלְדָוִ֛ידle.da.VidH1732.

22Then Davidדָּוִ֜ידda.VidH1732saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toאֶל־'el-H413Ornanאָרְנָ֗ן'a.re.NanH771, “Grantתְּנָה־te.nah-H5414methe siteמְק֣וֹםme.KomH4725of this threshing floorהַגֹּ֔רֶןha.Go.renH1637,that I may buildוְאֶבְנֶה־ve.'ev.neh-H1129an altarמִזְבֵּ֖חַmiz.Be.achH4196to the LORDלַיהוָ֑הla.Yah.wehH3068.Sell itתְּנֵ֣הוּte.Ne.huH5414to mefor the fullמָלֵא֙ma.Le'H4392priceבְּכֶ֤סֶףbe.Khe.sefH3701,so that the plagueהַמַּגֵּפָ֖הha.ma.ge.FahH4046uponמֵעַ֥לme.'AlH5921the peopleהָעָֽם׃ha.'AmH5971may be haltedוְתֵעָצַ֥רve.te.'a.TzarH6113.”

23Ornanאָרְנָ֤ן'a.re.NanH771saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toאֶל־'el-H413Davidדָּוִיד֙da.VidH1732, “Takeקַֽח־kach-H3947it!May my lordאֲדֹנִ֥י'a.do.NiH113the kingהַמֶּ֖לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428doוְיַ֛עַשׂve.Ya.'asH6213whatever seems goodהַטּ֣וֹבha.TovH2896to himבְּעֵינָ֑יוbe.'ei.NavH5869.Lookרְאֵה֩re.'EhH7200,I will giveנָתַ֨תִּיna.Ta.tiH5414the oxenהַבָּקָ֜רha.ba.KarH1241for the burnt offeringsלָֽעֹל֗וֹתla.'o.LotH5930,the threshing sledgesוְהַמּוֹרִגִּ֧יםve.ham.mo.ri.GimH4173for the woodלָעֵצִ֛יםla.'e.TzimH6086,and the wheatוְהַחִטִּ֥יםve.ha.chi.TimH2406for the grain offeringלַמִּנְחָ֖הla.min.ChahH4503—I will giveנָתָֽתִּי׃na.Ta.tiH5414it allהַכֹּ֥לha.KolH3605.”

24“Noלֹ֕אlo'H3808,”repliedוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559לְאָרְנָ֔ןle.'a.re.NanH771Kingהַמֶּ֤לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428Davidדָּוִיד֙da.VidH1732כִּֽי־ki-H3588, “I insist on payingH7069the fullמָלֵ֑אma.Le'H4392priceבְּכֶ֣סֶףbe.Khe.sefH3701,forכִּ֠יkiH3588I will notלֹא־lo'-H3808takeאֶשָּׂ֤א'e.Sa'H5375for the LORDלַיהוָ֔הla.Yah.wehH3068whatאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834belongs to you,nor will I offerוְהַעֲל֥וֹתve.ha.'a.LotH5927burnt offeringsעוֹלָ֖הo.LahH5930that cost me nothingחִנָּֽם׃chi.NamH2600.”

25So Davidדָּוִ֛ידda.VidH1732paidוַיִּתֵּ֥ןvai.yi.TenH5414Ornanלְאָרְנָ֖ןle.'a.re.NanH771sixשֵׁ֥שׁsheshH8337hundredמֵאֽוֹת׃me.'otH3967shekelsשִׁקְלֵ֣יshik.LeiH8255of goldזָהָ֔ב מִשְׁקָ֖לza.Hav mish.KalH2091 H4948for the siteבַּמָּק֑וֹםba.ma.KomH4725.

26Andדָּוִ֤ידda.VidH1732thereשָׁ֨םshamH8033he builtוַיִּבֶן֩vai.yi.VenH1129an altarמִזְבֵּ֙חַ֙miz.Be.achH4196to the LORDלַיהוָ֔הla.Yah.wehH3068and offeredוַיַּ֥עַלvai.Ya.'alH5927burnt offeringsעֹל֖וֹתo.LotH5930and peace offeringsוּשְׁלָמִ֑יםu.she.la.MimH8002.He calledוַיִּקְרָא֙vai.yik.Ra'H7121uponאֶל־'el-H413the LORDיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068,who answered himוַיַּֽעֲנֵ֤הוּvai.ya.'a.Ne.huH6030with fireבָאֵשׁ֙va.'EshH784fromמִן־min-H4480heavenהַשָּׁמַ֔יִםha.sha.Ma.yimH8064onעַ֖ל'alH5921the altarמִזְבַּ֥חmiz.BachH4196of burnt offeringהָעֹלָֽה׃ פha.'o.LahH5930.

27Then the LORDיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068spokeוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to the angelלַמַּלְאָ֔ךְla.mal.'AkhH4397,who put his swordחַרְבּ֖וֹchar.BoH2719backוַיָּ֥שֶׁבvai.Ya.shevH7725intoאֶל־'el-H413its sheathנְדָנָֽהּ׃ne.da.NahH5084.

28At thatהַהִ֔יאha.Hi'H1931timeבָּעֵ֣תba.'EtH6256,when Davidדָּוִיד֙da.VidH1732sawבִּרְא֤וֹתbir.'otH7200thatכִּי־ki-H3588the LORDיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068had answered himעָנָ֣הוּ'a.Na.huH6030at the threshing floorבְּגֹ֖רֶןbe.Go.renH1637of Ornanאָרְנָ֣ן'a.re.NanH771the Jebusiteהַיְבוּסִ֑יhay.vu.SiH2983,he offered sacrificesוַיִּזְבַּ֖חvai.yiz.BachH2076thereשָֽׁם׃ShamH8033.
