16At that timeאָ֣ז'azH227Davidוְדָוִ֖ידve.da.VidH1732was in the strongholdבַּמְּצוּדָ֑הba.me.tzu.DahH4686,and the garrisonוּנְצִ֣יבu.ne.TzivH5333of the Philistinesפְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים אָ֖זpe.lish.Tim 'azH6430 H227was at BethlehemH1035.

17Davidדָּוִ֖ידda.VidH1732longed for waterוַיִּתְאָ֥יוvai.yit.'avH183and saidוַיֹּאמַ֑רvai.yo.MarH559, “Oh, that someoneמִ֚יmiH4310would get me a drinkיַשְׁקֵ֣נִיyash.Ke.niH8248of waterמַ֔יִםMa.yimH4325from the wellמִבּ֥וֹרmi.BorH953בֵּֽית־beit-H1035near the gateבַּשָּֽׁעַר׃ba.Sha.'arH8179of Bethlehemלֶ֖חֶםLe.chemH1035אֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834!”

18So the Threeהַשְּׁלֹשָׁ֜הha.she.lo.ShahH7969brokeוַיִּבְקְע֨וּvai.yiv.ke.'UH1234through the Philistineפְלִשְׁתִּ֗יםfe.lish.TimH6430campבְּמַחֲנֵ֣הbe.ma.cha.NehH4264,drewוַיִּֽשְׁאֲבוּ־vai.yish.'a.vu-H7579waterמַ֙יִם֙ma.yimH4325from the wellמִבּ֤וֹרmi.BorH953בֵּֽית־beit-H1035at the gateבַּשַּׁ֔עַר וַיִּשְׂא֖וּba.Sha.'ar vai.yis.'UH8179 H5375of Bethlehemלֶ֙חֶם֙le.chemH1035אֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834,and brought itוַיָּבִ֣אוּvai.ya.Vi.'uH935back toאֶל־'el-H413Davidדָּוִ֑ידda.VidH1732.But heדָוִיד֙da.VidH1732refusedוְלֹֽא־ אָבָ֤הve.lo'- 'a.VahH3808 H14to drink itלִשְׁתּוֹתָ֔םlish.to.TamH8354;instead, he poured it outוַיְנַסֵּ֥ךְvay.na.SekhH5258אֹתָ֖ם'o.TamH853to the LORDלַיהוָֽה׃la.Yah.wehH3068,
