Deuteronomy 18:10-22

10There shall not be foundH4672 among you anyone 1who makes his sonH1121 or his daughterH1323 passH5674 through the fireH784, one who usesH7080 divinationH7081, a 2soothsayerH6049, one who interpretsH5172 omensH5172, or a sorcererH3784, 11or one who castsH2266 a spellH2267, 3or a mediumH7592H178, or a spiritistH3049, or one who consultsH1875 the deadH4191. 12For whoeverH3605 doesH6213 theseH428 thingsH428 is detestableH8441 to the LordH3068; and 4becauseH1558 of theseH428 detestableH8441 thingsH8441 the LordH3068 your GodH430 is going to driveH3423 them outH3423 beforeH6440 you. 135You are to be blamelessH8549 beforeH5973 the LordH3068 your GodH430. 14For theseH428 nationsH1471, whichH834 you are going to dispossessH3423, listenH8085 to 6soothsayersH6049 and divinersH7080, but as for you, the LordH3068 your GodH430 has not allowedH5414 you to do soH3651.

15“7The LordH3068 your GodH430 will raiseH6965 upH6965 for you a prophetH5030 likeH3644 me from amongH7130 you, from your countrymenH251; to him you shall listenH8085. 16This is 8in accordance with everythingH3605 that you askedH7592 of the LordH3068 your GodH430 at HorebH2722 on the dayH3117 of the assemblyH6951, sayingH559, ‘Do not let me hearH8085 the voiceH6963 of the LordH3068 my GodH430 againH3254, and do not let me seeH7200 thisH2088 greatH1419 fireH784 anymoreH5750, orH3808 I will dieH4191!’ 17And 9the LordH3068 saidH559 to me, ‘They have 10spokenH1696 wellH3190. 18I will raiseH6965 upH6965 for them a prophetH5030 from amongH7130 their countrymenH251 likeH3644 you, and 11I will putH5414 My wordsH1697 in his mouthH6310, and 12he shall speakH1696 to them everythingH3605 that I commandH6680 him. 1913And it shall comeH1961 aboutH1961 that whoeverH376H834 does not listenH8085 to My wordsH1697 whichH834 he speaksH1696 in My nameH8034, I MyselfH595 will 14requireH1875 it of him. 20But the prophetH5030 whoH834 speaksH1696 a wordH1697 15presumptuouslyH2102 in My nameH8034, a word whichH834 I have not commandedH6680 him to speakH1696, or 16whichH834 he speaksH1696 in the nameH8034 of otherH312 godsH430, 17that prophetH5030 shall dieH4191.’ 21And ifH3588 you sayH559 in your heartH3824, ‘HowH351 will we recognizeH3045 the wordH1697 whichH834 the LordH3068 has not spokenH1696?’ 2218WhenH834 the prophetH5030 speaksH1696 in the nameH8034 of the LordH3068, and the thingH1697 does not happenH1961 or comeH935 true, that is the thingH1697 whichH834 the LordH3068 has not spokenH1696. The prophetH5030 has spokenH1696 it 19presumptuouslyH2087; you are not to be afraidH1481 of him.
