1 Kings 15:9-24
9So in the twentiethH6242 yearH8141 of JeroboamH3379 the kingH4428 of IsraelH3478, AsaH609 began to reignH4427 as kingH4428 of JudahH3063. 10He reignedH4427 for forty-oneH705H259 yearsH8141 in JerusalemH3389; and 1his mother’sH517 nameH8034 was MaacahH4601 the daughterH1323 of AbishalomH53. 11Now 2AsaH609 didH6213 whatH3477 wasH3477 rightH3477 in the sightH5869 of the LordH3068, like his fatherH1 DavidH1732. 123He also removedH5674 the maleH6945 cultH6945 prostitutesH6945 from the landH776 and 4removedH5493 allH3605 the idolsH1544 whichH834 his fathersH1 had madeH6213. 13And evenH1571 his motherH517 MaacahH4601, 5he also removedH5493 her from the position of queenH1377 motherH1377, becauseH834 she had madeH6213 an abominableH4656 imageH4656 6as an AsherahH842; and AsaH609 cutH3772 downH3772 her abominableH4656 imageH4656 and 7burnedH8313 it at the brookH5158 KidronH6939. 148But the highH1116 placesH1116 9were not eliminatedH5493; neverthelessH7534 10Asa’sH609 heartH3824 was 11whollyH8003 devotedH8003 to the LordH3068 allH3605 his daysH3117. 15And 12he broughtH935 into the houseH1004 of the LordH3068 the 13holyH6944 giftsH6944 of his fatherH1 and his own 14holyH6944 giftsH6944: silverH3701, goldH2091, and valuable utensilsH3627.
1615Now there was warH4421 betweenH996 AsaH609 and BaashaH1201 kingH4428 of IsraelH3478 allH3605 their daysH3117. 1716BaashaH1201 kingH4428 of IsraelH3478 marchedH5927 againstH5921 JudahH3063 and 1718fortifiedH1129 RamahH7414 19in order to preventH1115H5414 anyone from goingH3318 outH3318 or comingH935 inH935 to AsaH609 kingH4428 of JudahH3063. 18Then 20AsaH609 tookH3947 allH3605 the silverH3701 and the goldH2091 that was leftH3498 in the treasuriesH214 of the houseH1004 of the LordH3068 and the treasuriesH214 of the king’sH4428 houseH1004, and handedH5414H3027 it overH5414 to his servantsH5650. And 21KingH4428 AsaH609 sentH7971 them to Ben-hadadH1130 the sonH1121 of TabrimmonH2886, the sonH1121 of HezionH2383, kingH4428 of AramH758, who livedH3427 in 22DamascusH1834, sayingH559, 19“Let’s make a 23treatyH1285 betweenH996 24you and me, as there was betweenH996 my fatherH1 and your fatherH1. BeholdH2009, I have sentH7971 you a giftH7810 of silverH3701 and goldH2091; goH1980, breakH6565 your treatyH1285 with BaashaH1201 kingH4428 of IsraelH3478 so that he will withdrawH5927 from me.” 20So Ben-hadadH1130 listenedH8085 to KingH4428 AsaH609 and sentH7971 the commandersH8269 of his armiesH2428 againstH5921 the citiesH5892 of IsraelH3478, and 25conqueredH5221 26IjonH5859, 27DanH1835, 28Abel-beth-maacahH62, and allH3605 29ChinnerothH3672, besidesH5921 allH3605 the landH776 of NaphtaliH5321. 21When BaashaH1201 heardH8085 about it, 30he stoppedH2308 31fortifyingH1129 RamahH7414 and remainedH3427 in 32TirzahH8656. 22Then KingH4428 AsaH609 madeH8085 aH8085 proclamationH8085 to allH3605 JudahH3063--noH369 oneH369 was exemptH5355--and they carriedH5375 away the stonesH68 of RamahH7414 and its timberH6086 with whichH834 BaashaH1201 had builtH1129 fortifications. And KingH4428 AsaH609 builtH1129 with them 33GebaH1387 of BenjaminH1144 and MizpahH4709.
2334Now as for the restH3499 of allH3605 the actsH1697 of AsaH609 and allH3605 his mightH1369, and allH3605 that he didH6213 and the citiesH5892 whichH834 he builtH1129, are they not writtenH3789 in the BookH5612 of the ChroniclesH1697H3117 of the KingsH4428 of JudahH3063? But in the timeH6256 of his oldH2209 ageH2209 he wasH2470 diseasedH2470 in his feetH7272. 24And AsaH609 35layH7901 downH7901 with his fathersH1 and was buriedH6912 with his fathersH1 in the cityH5892 of his fatherH1 DavidH1732; and his sonH1121 36JehoshaphatH3092 reignedH4427 inH8478 his placeH8478.
