Romans 6:4-23
4Therefore we have been 1buried with Him through baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was 2raised from the dead through the 3glory of the Father, so we too may walk in 4newness of life. 5For 5if we have become 6united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be 7in the likeness of His resurrection, 6knowing this, that our 8old 9self was 10crucified with Him, in order that our 11body of sin might be 12done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; 7for 13the one who has died is 14freed from sin.
8Now 15if we have died with Christ, we believe that 16we shall also live with Him, 9knowing that Christ, having been 17raised from the dead, 18is never to die again; 19death no longer is master over Him. 10For 20the death that He died, He died to sin once for all time; but 21the life that He lives, He lives to 22God. 11So you too, consider yourselves to be 23dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
12Therefore sin is not to 24reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts, 13and do not go on 25presenting 26the parts of your body to sin as 27instruments of unrighteousness; but 28present yourselves to God as those who are alive from the dead, and 29your body’s parts as 30instruments of righteousness for God. 14For 31sin shall not 32be master over you, for 33you are not under 34the Law but 35under grace.
15What then? 36Are we to sin because we are not under 37the Law but under grace? 3839Far from it! 16Do you not 40know that the one to whom you present yourselves as 41slaves for obedience, you are slaves of that same one whom you obey, either of 42sin 43resulting in death, or of obedience 44resulting in righteousness? 17But 45thanks be to God that 46though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that 4748form of teaching to which you were entrusted, 18and after being 49freed from sin, you became slaves to righteousness. 1950I am speaking 51in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just 52as you presented 53the parts of your body as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness, 54resulting in further lawlessness, so now present 55your body’s parts as slaves to righteousness, 56resulting in sanctification.
20For 57when you were slaves of sin, you were free in relation to righteousness. 21Therefore what 5859benefit were you then 60deriving from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the outcome of those things is 61death. 22But now having been 62freed from sin and 63enslaved to God, you 64derive your 6566benefit, 67resulting in sanctification, and 68the outcome, eternal life. 23For the wages of 69sin is death, but the gracious gift of God is 70eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
