Romans 6:4-23
4Therefore we have been 1buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was 2raised from the dead through the 3glory of the Father, so we too might walk in 4newness of life. 5For 5if we have become 6united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be 7in the likeness of His resurrection, 6knowing this, that our 8old 9self was 10crucified with Him, in order that our 11body of sin might be 12done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; 7for 13he who has died is 14freed from sin.
8Now 15if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, 9knowing that Christ, having been 16raised from the dead, 17is never to die again; 18death no longer is master over Him. 10For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. 11Even so consider yourselves to be 19dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
12Therefore do not let sin 20reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts, 13and do not go on 21presenting 22the members of your body to sin as 23instruments of unrighteousness; but 24present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members as 25instruments of righteousness to God. 14For 26sin shall not 27be master over you, for 28you are not under law but 29under grace.
15What then? 30Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? 31May it never be! 16Do you not 32know that when you present yourselves to someone as 33slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of 34sin 35resulting in death, or of obedience 36resulting in righteousness? 17But 37thanks be to God that 38though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that 39form of teaching to which you were committed, 18and having been 40freed from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. 1941I am speaking in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just 42as you presented your members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness, 43resulting in further lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness, 44resulting in sanctification.
20For 45when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. 21Therefore what 4647benefit were you then 48deriving 49from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the outcome of those things is 50death. 22But now having been 51freed from sin and 52enslaved to God, you 53derive your 5455benefit, 56resulting in sanctification, and 57the outcome, eternal life. 23For the wages of 58sin is death, but the free gift of God is 59eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
