Romans 6:3-23
3Or do you not know that all of us who have been 1baptized into 2Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? 4Therefore we have been 3buried with Him through baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was 4raised from the dead through the 5glory of the Father, so we too may walk in 6newness of life. 5For 7if we have become 8united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be 9in the likeness of His resurrection, 6knowing this, that our 10old 11self was 12crucified with Him, in order that our 13body of sin might be 14done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; 7for 15the one who has died is 16freed from sin.
8Now 17if we have died with Christ, we believe that 18we shall also live with Him, 9knowing that Christ, having been 19raised from the dead, 20is never to die again; 21death no longer is master over Him. 10For 22the death that He died, He died to sin once for all time; but 23the life that He lives, He lives to 24God. 11So you too, consider yourselves to be 25dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
12Therefore sin is not to 26reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts, 13and do not go on 27presenting 28the parts of your body to sin as 29instruments of unrighteousness; but 30present yourselves to God as those who are alive from the dead, and 31your body’s parts as 32instruments of righteousness for God. 14For 33sin shall not 34be master over you, for 35you are not under 36the Law but 37under grace.
15What then? 38Are we to sin because we are not under 39the Law but under grace? 4041Far from it! 16Do you not 42know that the one to whom you present yourselves as 43slaves for obedience, you are slaves of that same one whom you obey, either of 44sin 45resulting in death, or of obedience 46resulting in righteousness? 17But 47thanks be to God that 48though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that 4950form of teaching to which you were entrusted, 18and after being 51freed from sin, you became slaves to righteousness. 1952I am speaking 53in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just 54as you presented 55the parts of your body as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness, 56resulting in further lawlessness, so now present 57your body’s parts as slaves to righteousness, 58resulting in sanctification.
20For 59when you were slaves of sin, you were free in relation to righteousness. 21Therefore what 6061benefit were you then 62deriving from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the outcome of those things is 63death. 22But now having been 64freed from sin and 65enslaved to God, you 66derive your 6768benefit, 69resulting in sanctification, and 70the outcome, eternal life. 23For the wages of 71sin is death, but the gracious gift of God is 72eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
