Romans 6:3-23
3Or do you not know that all of us who have been 1baptized into 2Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? 4Therefore we have been 3buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was 4raised from the dead through the 5glory of the Father, so we too might walk in 6newness of life. 5For 7if we have become 8united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be 9in the likeness of His resurrection, 6knowing this, that our 10old 11self was 12crucified with Him, in order that our 13body of sin might be 14done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; 7for 15he who has died is 16freed from sin.
8Now 17if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, 9knowing that Christ, having been 18raised from the dead, 19is never to die again; 20death no longer is master over Him. 10For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. 11Even so consider yourselves to be 21dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
12Therefore do not let sin 22reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts, 13and do not go on 23presenting 24the members of your body to sin as 25instruments of unrighteousness; but 26present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members as 27instruments of righteousness to God. 14For 28sin shall not 29be master over you, for 30you are not under law but 31under grace.
15What then? 32Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? 33May it never be! 16Do you not 34know that when you present yourselves to someone as 35slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of 36sin 37resulting in death, or of obedience 38resulting in righteousness? 17But 39thanks be to God that 40though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that 41form of teaching to which you were committed, 18and having been 42freed from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. 1943I am speaking in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just 44as you presented your members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness, 45resulting in further lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness, 46resulting in sanctification.
20For 47when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. 21Therefore what 4849benefit were you then 50deriving 51from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the outcome of those things is 52death. 22But now having been 53freed from sin and 54enslaved to God, you 55derive your 5657benefit, 58resulting in sanctification, and 59the outcome, eternal life. 23For the wages of 60sin is death, but the free gift of God is 61eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
