3So nowוְעַתָּ֣הve.'a.TahH6258let’s makeנִֽכְרָת־nikh.rot-H3772a covenantבְּרִ֣יתbe.RitH1285with our Godלֵ֠אלֹהֵינוּLe.lo.hei.nuH430to sendH3318awayH3318allכָל־khol-H3605the wivesנָשִׁ֜יםna.ShimH802andtheir childrenוְהַנּוֹלָ֤דve.ha.no.LadH3205,following the counselבַּעֲצַ֣תba.'a.TzatH6098ofmy lordאֲדֹנָ֔י'a.do.NaiH136and ofthose who fearוְהַחֲרֵדִ֖יםve.ha.cha.re.DimH2730the commandmentבְּמִצְוַ֣תbe.mitz.VatH4687of our Godאֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ'e.lo.Hei.nuH430;and let it be doneיֵעָשֶֽׂה׃ye.'a.SehH6213according to the Lawוְכַתּוֹרָ֖הve.kha.to.RahH8451.

4Ariseק֛וּםkumH6965! For thismatterהַדָּבָ֖רha.da.VarH1697isyour responsibilityעָלֶ֥יךָ'a.Lei.khaH5921, but we will be with you;beH2388courageousH2388and actוַעֲשֵֽׂה׃ פva.'a.SehH6213.”

5Then Ezraעֶזְרָ֡א'ez.Ra'H5830stoodוַיָּ֣קָםvai.Ya.komH6965andmade the leadingשָׂרֵי֩sa.ReiH8269priestsהַכֹּהֲנִ֨יםha.ko.ha.NimH3548,the Levitesהַלְוִיִּ֜םhal.vi.YimH3881,and allוְכָל־ve.kholH3605Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478takeH7650anH7650oathוַיַּשְׁבַּ֣עvai.yash.Ba'H7650that they would doלַעֲשׂ֛וֹתla.'a.SotH6213according to thisהַזֶּ֖הha.ZehH2088proposalכַּדָּבָ֥רka.da.VarH1697;so they tookH7650theH7650oathוַיִּשָּׁבֵֽעוּ׃vai.yi.sha.Ve.'uH7650.

6Then Ezraעֶזְרָ֗א'ez.Ra'H5830roseוַיָּ֣קָםvai.Ya.komH6965from beforeמִלִּפְנֵי֙mi.lif.NeiH4480 H6440the houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of Godהָֽאֱלֹהִ֔יםha.'E.lo.HimH430and wentוַיֵּ֕לֶךְvai.Ye.lekhH1980into the chamberלִשְׁכַּ֖תlish.KatH3957of Jehohananיְהוֹחָנָ֣ןye.ho.cha.NanH3076the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Eliashibאֶלְיָשִׁ֑יב'el.ya.ShivH475.Although he wentוַיֵּ֣לֶךְvai.Ye.lekhH1980thereשָׁ֗םShamH8033,he did not eatאָכַל֙'a.KhalH398breadלֶ֤חֶםLe.chemH3899norH3808drinkשָׁתָ֔הsha.TahH8354waterוּמַ֣יִםu.Ma.yimH4325,becauseכִּ֥יkiH3588he was mourningמִתְאַבֵּ֖לmit.'a.BelH56overעַל־'al-H5921the unfaithfulnessמַ֥עַלMa.'alH4604of the exilesהַגּוֹלָֽה׃ סha.go.LahH1473.

7So they madeוַיַּעֲבִ֨ירוּvai.ya.'a.Vi.ruH5674a proclamationק֜וֹלKolH6963throughout Judahבִּיהוּדָ֣הbi.hu.DahH3063and Jerusalemוִירֽוּשָׁלִַ֗םvi.ru.sha.LimH3389to allלְכֹל֙le.KholH3605the exilesבְּנֵ֣י הַגּוֹלָ֔הbe.Nei ha.go.LahH1121 H1473,that they were to assembleלְהִקָּבֵ֖ץle.hi.ka.VetzH6908at Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ye.ru.sha.LimH3389,

8and that whoeverוְכֹל֩ אֲשֶׁ֨רve.Khol 'a.SherH3605 H834did not comeיָב֜וֹאya.Vo'H935within threeלִשְׁלֹ֣שֶׁתlish.Lo.shetH7969daysהַיָּמִ֗יםhai.ya.MimH3117,in accordance with the counselכַּעֲצַ֤תka.'a.TzatH6098of the leadersהַשָּׂרִים֙ha.sa.RimH8269and the eldersוְהַזְּקֵנִ֔יםve.ha.ze.ke.NimH2205,allכָּל־kol-H3605his propertyרְכוּשׁ֑וֹre.khu.ShoH7399would be forfeitedיָחֳרַ֖םyo.cho.RamH2763,and he himselfוְה֥וּאve.Hu'H1931would be excludedיִבָּדֵ֖לyi.ba.DelH914from the assemblyמִקְּהַ֥לmi.ke.HalH6951of the exilesהַגּוֹלָֽה׃ סha.go.LahH1473.

9So allכָל־khol-H3605the menH376of Judahיְהוּדָה֩ye.hu.DahH3063and Benjaminוּבִנְיָמִ֨ן׀u.vin.ya.MinH1144assembledוַיִּקָּבְצ֣וּvai.yi.ka.ve.TzuH6908at Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִַ֜םye.ru.sha.LimH3389within the threeלִשְׁלֹ֣שֶׁתlish.Lo.shetH7969daysהַיָּמִ֗יםhai.ya.MimH3117.It was the ninthהַתְּשִׁיעִ֖יha.te.shi.'IH8671monthחֹ֥דֶשׁCho.deshH2320on the twentiethבְּעֶשְׂרִ֣יםbe.'es.RimH6242of the monthבַּחֹ֑דֶשׁba.Cho.deshH2320,and allכָל־khol-H3605the peopleהָעָ֗םha.'AmH5971satוַיֵּשְׁב֣וּvai.ye.she.VuH3427in the publicH7339squareH7339beforethe houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֔יםha.'E.lo.HimH430,tremblingמַרְעִידִ֥יםmar.'i.DimH7460becauseעַל־'al-H5921of this matterהַדָּבָ֖רha.da.VarH1697and the heavyrainוּמֵהַגְּשָׁמִֽים׃ פu.me.ha.ge.sha.MimH1653.

10Then Ezraעֶזְרָ֤א'ez.Ra'H5830the priestהַכֹּהֵן֙ha.ko.HenH3548stoodH6965upH6965and saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to them, “You have beenH4603unfaithfulH4603and have marriedוַתֹּשִׁ֖יבוּva.to.Shi.vuH3427foreignנָכְרִיּ֑וֹתna.khe.ri.YotH5237wivesנָשִׁ֣יםna.ShimH802,addingלְהוֹסִ֖יףle.ho.SifH3254to the guiltאַשְׁמַ֥ת'ash.MatH819of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478.

11Nowוְעַתָּ֗הve.'a.TahH6258therefore,makeתְּנ֥וּte.NuH5414confessionתוֹדָ֛הto.DahH8426to the Lordלַיהוָ֥הla.Yah.wehH3068Godאֱלֹהֵֽי־'e.lo.hei-H430of your fathersאֲבֹתֵיכֶ֖ם'a.vo.tei.KhemH1anddoוַעֲשׂ֣וּva.'a.SuH6213His willרְצוֹנ֑וֹre.tzo.NoH7522; andseparateוְהִבָּֽדְלוּ֙ve.hi.ba.de.LuH914yourselves from the peoplesמֵעַמֵּ֣יme.'a.MeiH5971of the landהָאָ֔רֶץha.'A.retzH776and from the foreignהַנָּכְרִיּֽוֹת׃ha.na.khe.ri.YotH5237wivesהַנָּשִׁ֖יםha.na.ShimH802.”
