2And Shechaniahשְׁכַנְיָ֨הshe.khan.YahH7935the sonבֶן־ven-H1121of Jehielיְחִיאֵ֜לye.chi.'ElH3171, oneof the sonsמִבְּנֵ֤יmi.be.NeiH1121of Elamעֵילָם֙o.lamH5867,answeredוַיַּעַן֩vai.ya.'AnH6030and saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto Ezraלְעֶזְרָ֔אle.'ez.Ra'H5830,We have trespassedמָעַ֣לְנוּma.'Al.nuH4603against our Godבֵאלֹהֵ֔ינוּve.lo.Hei.nuH430,and have takenוַנֹּ֛שֶׁבva.No.shevH3427strangeנָכְרִיּ֖וֹתna.khe.ri.YotH5237wivesנָשִׁ֥יםna.ShimH802of the peopleמֵעַמֵּ֣יme.'a.MeiH5971of the landהָאָ֑רֶץha.'A.retzH776:yet now there isיֵשׁ־yesh-H3426hopeמִקְוֶ֥הmik.VehH4723in Israelלְיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לle.Yis.ra.'ElH3478concerning this thing.

3Now therefore let us makeנִֽכְרָת־nikh.rot-H3772a covenantבְּרִ֣יתbe.RitH1285with our Godלֵ֠אלֹהֵינוּLe.lo.hei.nuH430to put awayלְהוֹצִ֨יאle.ho.Tzi'H3318all the wivesנָשִׁ֜יםna.ShimH802,and such as are bornוְהַנּוֹלָ֤דve.ha.no.LadH3205of them, according to the counselבַּעֲצַ֣תba.'a.TzatH6098of my lordאֲדֹנָ֔י'a.do.NaiH136,and of those that trembleוְהַחֲרֵדִ֖יםve.ha.cha.re.DimH2730at the commandmentבְּמִצְוַ֣תbe.mitz.VatH4687of our Godאֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ'e.lo.Hei.nuH430;and let it be doneיֵעָשֶֽׂה׃ye.'a.SehH6213according to the lawוְכַתּוֹרָ֖הve.kha.to.RahH8451.

4Ariseק֛וּםkumH6965; for thismatterהַדָּבָ֖רha.da.VarH1697belongeth unto thee: we also will bewith thee: be of good courageחֲזַ֖קcha.ZakH2388,and doוַעֲשֵֽׂה׃ פva.'a.SehH6213it.

5Then aroseוַיָּ֣קָםvai.Ya.komH6965Ezraעֶזְרָ֡א'ez.Ra'H5830,and made the chiefשָׂרֵי֩sa.ReiH8269priestsהַכֹּהֲנִ֨יםha.ko.ha.NimH3548,the Levitesהַלְוִיִּ֜םhal.vi.YimH3881,and all Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478,to swearוַיַּשְׁבַּ֣עvai.yash.Ba'H7650that they should doלַעֲשׂ֛וֹתla.'a.SotH6213according to this wordכַּדָּבָ֥רka.da.VarH1697.And they swareוַיִּשָּׁבֵֽעוּ׃vai.yi.sha.Ve.'uH7650.

6Then Ezraעֶזְרָ֗א'ez.Ra'H5830rose upוַיָּ֣קָםvai.Ya.komH6965from beforeמִלִּפְנֵי֙mi.lif.NeiH6440the houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of Godהָֽאֱלֹהִ֔יםha.'E.lo.HimH430,and wentH3212into the chamberלִשְׁכַּ֖תlish.KatH3957of Johananיְהוֹחָנָ֣ןye.ho.cha.NanH3076the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Eliashibאֶלְיָשִׁ֑יב'el.ya.ShivH475: and whenhe cameH3212thither, he did eatאָכַל֙'a.KhalH398no breadלֶ֤חֶםLe.chemH3899,nor drinkשָׁתָ֔הsha.TahH8354waterוּמַ֣יִםu.Ma.yimH4325:for he mournedמִתְאַבֵּ֖לmit.'a.BelH56because of the transgressionמַ֥עַלMa.'alH4604of them that had been carried awayהַגּוֹלָֽה׃ סha.go.LahH1473.

7And they made proclamationוַיַּעֲבִ֨ירוּ ק֜וֹלvai.ya.'a.Vi.ru KolH6963 H5674throughout Judahבִּיהוּדָ֣הbi.hu.DahH3063and Jerusalemוִירֽוּשָׁלִַ֗םvi.ru.sha.LimH3389unto all the childrenבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of the captivityהַגּוֹלָ֔הha.go.LahH1473,that they should gather themselves togetherלְהִקָּבֵ֖ץle.hi.ka.VetzH6908unto Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ye.ru.sha.LimH3389;

8And that whosoever would not comeיָב֜וֹאya.Vo'H935within threeלִשְׁלֹ֣שֶׁתlish.Lo.shetH7969daysהַיָּמִ֗יםhai.ya.MimH3117,according to the counselכַּעֲצַ֤תka.'a.TzatH6098of the princesהַשָּׂרִים֙ha.sa.RimH8269and the eldersוְהַזְּקֵנִ֔יםve.ha.ze.ke.NimH2205,all his substanceרְכוּשׁ֑וֹre.khu.ShoH7399should be forfeitedיָחֳרַ֖םyo.cho.RamH2763,and himself separatedיִבָּדֵ֖לyi.ba.DelH914from the congregationמִקְּהַ֥לmi.ke.HalH6951of those that had been carried awayהַגּוֹלָֽה׃ סha.go.LahH1473.

9Then all the menאַנְשֵֽׁי־'an.shei-H582of Judahיְהוּדָה֩ye.hu.DahH3063and Benjaminוּבִנְיָמִ֨ן׀u.vin.ya.MinH1144gathered themselves togetherוַיִּקָּבְצ֣וּvai.yi.ka.ve.TzuH6908unto Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִַ֜םye.ru.sha.LimH3389within threeלִשְׁלֹ֣שֶׁתlish.Lo.shetH7969daysהַיָּמִ֗יםhai.ya.MimH3117.
