5In Gibeonבְּגִבְע֗וֹןbe.giv.'onH1391the Lordיְהֹוָ֛הYah.wehH3068appearedנִרְאָ֧הnir.'AhH7200to Solomonשְׁלֹמֹ֖הshe.lo.MohH8010in a dreamבַּחֲל֣וֹםba.cha.LomH2472at nightהַלָּ֑יְלָהha.La.ye.lahH3915;and Godאֱלֹהִ֔ים'E.lo.HimH430saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Askשְׁאַ֖לshe.'AlH7592whatמָ֥הmahH4100you wishMe to giveאֶתֶּן־'e.ten-H5414you.”

6Then Solomonשְׁלֹמֹ֗הshe.lo.MohH8010saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “You have shownעָשִׂ֜יתָ'a.Si.taH6213greatגָּדוֹל֒ga.dOlH1419faithfulnessחֶ֣סֶדChe.sedH2617to Your servantעַבְדְּךָ֙'av.de.KhaH5650Davidדָוִ֣דda.VidH1732my fatherאָבִי֮'a.ViH1,accordingH3512asH3512he walkedהָלַ֨ךְha.LakhH1980beforeלְפָנֶ֜יךָle.fa.Nei.khaH6440You intruthבֶּאֱמֶ֧תbe.'e.MetH571,righteousnessוּבִצְדָקָ֛הu.vitz.da.KahH6666,and uprightnessוּבְיִשְׁרַ֥תu.ve.yish.RatH3483of heartלֵבָ֖בle.VavH3824towardH5973You; and You havereservedוַתִּשְׁמָר־va.tish.mor-H8104for him thisהַזֶּ֔הha.ZehH2088greatהַגָּדוֹל֙ha.ga.dOlH1419faithfulnessהַחֶ֤סֶדha.Che.sedH2617,that You have givenוַתִּתֶּן־va.ti.ten-H5414him a sonבֵ֛ןvenH1121to sitיֹשֵׁ֥בyo.ShevH3427on his throneכִּסְא֖וֹkis.'OH3678, as it isthisהַזֶּֽה׃ha.ZehH2088dayכַּיּ֥וֹםkai.YomH3117.

7And nowוְעַתָּה֙ve.'a.TahH6258, Lordיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068my Godאֱלֹהָ֔י'e.lo.HaiH430,You have madeH4427Your servantעַבְדְּךָ֔'av.de.KhaH5650kingהִמְלַ֣כְתָּhim.Lakh.taH4427inH8478placeתַּ֖חַתTa.chatH8478ofH8478my fatherאָבִ֑י'a.ViH1Davidדָּוִ֣דda.VidH1732, yet I am likea littleקָטֹ֔ןka.TonH6996boyנַ֣עַרNa.'arH5288;I do not knowאֵדַ֖ע'e.Da'H3045how togoצֵ֥אתtzetH3318outH3318or comeוָבֹֽא׃va.Vo'H935inH935.

8AndYour servantוְעַ֨בְדְּךָ֔ve.'Av.de.khaH5650is in the midstבְּת֥וֹךְbe.TokhH8432of Your peopleעַמְּךָ֖'a.me.KhaH5971whomאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834You have chosenבָּחָ֑רְתָּba.Cha.re.taH977,a greatרָ֕בravH7227peopleעַם־'am-H5971whoאֲשֶׁ֧ר'a.SherH834are tooH4480manyמֵרֹֽב׃me.RoH7230to be numberedיִמָּנֶ֛הyi.ma.NehH4487or countedיִסָּפֵ֖רyi.sa.FerH5608.

9Sogiveוְנָתַתָּ֨ve.na.ta.TaH5414Your servantלְעַבְדְּךָ֜le.'av.de.KhaH5650an understandingשֹׁמֵ֙עַ֙sho.Me.a'H8085heartלֵ֤בlevH3820to judgeלִשְׁפֹּ֣טlish.PotH8199Your peopleעַמְּךָ֔'a.me.KhaH5971,to discernלְהָבִ֖יןle.ha.VinH995betweenבֵּֽין־bein-H996goodט֣וֹבTovH2896and evilלְרָ֑עle.Ra'H7451.For whoמִ֤יmiH4310isH3201capableH3201of judgingלִשְׁפֹּ֔טlish.PotH8199thisהַזֶּֽה׃ha.ZehH2088greatהַכָּבֵ֖דha.ka.VedH3515peopleעַמְּךָ֥'a.me.KhaH5971of Yours?”

10Nowit was pleasingוַיִּיטַ֥בvai.yi.TavH3190in the sightבְּעֵינֵ֣יbe.'ei.NeiH5869of the Lordאֲדֹנָ֑י'a.do.NaiH136that Solomonשְׁלֹמֹ֔הshe.lo.MohH8010had askedשָׁאַ֣לsha.'AlH7592thisהַזֶּֽה׃ha.ZehH2088thingH1697.

11And Godאֱלֹהִ֜ים'E.lo.HimH430saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to him, “Becauseיַעַן֩ אֲשֶׁ֨רya.'An 'a.SherH3282 H834you have askedשָׁאַ֜לְתָּsha.'Al.taH7592thisהַזֶּ֗הha.ZehH2088thingהַדָּבָ֣רha.da.VarH1697, and havenot askedשָׁאַ֨לְתָּsha.'Al.taH7592for yourselfa longרַבִּ֗יםra.BimH7227lifeיָמִ֣יםya.MimH3117,norH3808have askedשָׁאַ֤לְתָּsha.'Al.taH7592richesעֹ֔שֶׁר'O.sherH6239for yourself, norH3808have you askedשָׁאַ֖לְתָּsha.'Al.taH7592for the livesנֶ֣פֶשׁNe.feshH5315of your enemiesH340,but have askedוְשָׁאַ֧לְתָּve.sha.'Al.taH7592for yourself discernmentהָבִ֖יןha.VinH995to understandלִשְׁמֹ֥עַlish.Mo.a'H8085justiceמִשְׁפָּֽט׃mish.PatH4941,
